The pictures of the property do not show how steep the path is down to the lake. It is a tough walk for older people. Did not get to use the kayaks until the day before our last day.Overall the house
Is beautiful and the master bedroom is to die for. Lots of room for
the ten of us.The pool has a slight leak and had to add water daily
but was clean and serviced twice a week.

Great family vacation - quiet town, relaxing!
The pictures of this house do not do it justice. This home is gorgeous! It is clean and well maintained. The pool area is great and also provided was a table, umbrella, chairs and two lounge chairs. We spent a good part of every day by the pool. The gazebo is right near the pool area, this is not evident in the pictures and we were very happy about that. The upstairs bedrooms in the house had room air conditioners, which was a very welcome surprise as they were not listed as an amenity. They were really needed also! The owner allowed us to chose how we wanted three of the bedrooms set up, you could choose from a King bed or two twins in each room. This really helps with planning. The bedroom downstairs although beautifully decorated, should be noted that it did not have a dresser (other than a small end table) nor a closet. We could not unpack comfortably and had to live out of the suitcase. Plan accordingly, maybe for a teen. This bedroom also did not have an air conditioner. The kayaks by the lake provided great fun! The walkway to the lake is a short one, however, it is steep. Just noting this because we had two older people with us that could not comfortably go down to the dock. On the upside, we had three year old children who made the trek with no problem at all. The jewel of the home is the Master Bedroom upstairs. It was HUGE and amazing! Hardest part is to try to decide who gets that magnificent room. It has a couch, a desk, a beautiful window seat and glorious bathroom. The house is just a walk away from the Galley Restaurant, which provided live music and great food. The walk to the restaurant is level and was easily made by all parties. There was a free concert at the town park one night, also just a walk away. Ausable Chasm was less than a 1/2 hour away and a great day trip!! Everyone loved the ferry to Vermont and the visit to Vermont Teddy Bear factory was a great idea for the kids. This was a great family vacation. Very relaxing. The owner is great to deal with and I would highly recommend this rental. If there would be one suggestion for improvement, it would be to add a second refrigerator. With a house of up to 12 people the fridge and freezer filled very quickly. We were unable to keep everything we needed in the fridge. A second one in the garage or basement would have been such a welcome addition!! Hoping we can visit again sometime!

Beautiful property, great place to get away from it all
We rented this house for a week with 9 adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of room. The house itself is great, and has everything you would need away from home. (The only thing we had to pick up was hand soap.)
The property is beautiful. There is a lovely garden in the front of the house, great for morning coffee. Plus, there is a large front and back yard for kids to play in. There is also a large screened gazebo in the back. The pool was the big hit for our family. It was a little chilly, but we came in mid-June and it didn't really have time to warm up yet. But, that didn't stop us from jumping in every day!
We went to the Galley restaurant at the Marina. I think we went at 6:00 on a Tuesday with a party of 9, and had no trouble being seated. They were actually pretty empty. The food was great, and the drinks even better. Try the pink grapefruit cosmo if you go. We also had dinner at Life of Pie, the pizza place in town. The food was awesome, definitely check it out. Everything was so fresh, and the owner is a sweetheart.
We rode the Essex ferry and took a day trip to Shelbourne to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. It's a fun day trip for kids, and you can stuff your own bear (build-a-bear style) for $20. We had lunch at Barkeater's, which is right up the road. It's small and a little on the pricey side, but the food was good. There is also a small market across the parking lot from the restaurant that has a good selection of groceries, produce, prepared foods, and wine.
Only three mini downsides, which are really just my preference I guess. The master bedroom has a queen, I would have preferred a king. (PS - the master suite is huge and beautiful with an amazing bathroom). And, the local beach is not much of a beach. It's super small, and the sign says you have to wear water shoes. We had to skip that. For a house of that size, I would have liked an additional TV somewhere in the house. But, again, that's just my preference.
Overall, everything was great and our family had a wonderful getaway. Great experience, I highly recommend this property!

Great Stay on Lake Champlain!
We spent a week at the cottage, and enjoyed every second of our time. My three children loved the pool, the lake, the yard, and their individual rooms. The cottage was clean and welcoming, and was everything it was advertised to be and more! It is located in a very centralized location for exploring and day trips. We took day trips to Vermont, Montreal, Ft. Ticonderoga, and Lake Placid while we were staying here. We also hiked several trails that are within a short distance from the cottage. Most importantly, the owners were great to work with. There was contact the day before our stay asking how we would like rooms set up for our children, and also a very generous and understanding resolution to an issue we had while at the cottage (an issue that was totally of our own making!). My family and I have used VRBO to book cottages for our vacations many times in the past, and have usually had good experiences. I can honestly say from start to finish, this was one of the best experiences by far! I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone traveling to the Adirondacks for a vacation!
