About this property
Stunning Home On 20 Mountainous Acres 6 Miles From Mainstreet Bozeman
Experience mountain living just 6 miles from downtown Bozeman and only 2 miles off Interstate 90.
Wake to breathtaking views of Mount Ellis perfectly framed in the 25' wall of windows. Bask in the morning sun while having breakfast on the southern exposed 800 sf deck. You'll be serenaded by the sounds of gurgling water from Bear Creek and entertained by the wildlife frolicking in the meadow below.
After breakfast, hike down to Bear Creek, which is just at the bottom of your driveway. Follow the creek to the Bear Canyon trail head. The well-maintained trail follows Bear Creek up the lush, spectacular canyon and eventually to the Bear Lakes. This trail stays close to the cascading waters of the creek, gaining relatively little elevation making for an easy hike and very pleasurable experience.
You'll have to hustle to be home in time for lunch. After lunch the more adventurous among you strike out to climb Mount Ellis. After heading back down the driveway and across Bear Creek, you will face a climb that culminates at Mount Ellis' 7,700 ft. summit--3,000 ft. higher than where you started. The climb is worth every drop of sweat, as the summits' vistas are indescribable.
For those less bold, shopping in historic downtown Bozeman awaits. With loads of unique shops and art galleries, Bozeman is a shopper's paradise. The city also hosts "music on main" every Thursday throughout the summer, where a portion of main street is blocked off for free concerts that showcase local musical talent.
After everyone arrives home from their afternoon excursions, you gather together to share food and stories on the deck. From there you migrate to the hot tub on the far end of the deck to soak your weary muscles. As you lean your head back to take in the Montana sky you whisper to yourself... this will be a day I will always remember!
Finding a home on 20 mountainous acres within a few minutes of downtown Bozeman is exceedingly rare. Besides the fact Bear Canyon is breathtakingly beautiful, the home will saturate your senses, while keeping you comfortable. It is loaded with glass and perfectly situated to soak in the stunning outdoors, while being equally as stunning inside. Soaring ceilings clad in wood are supported by massive wood beams in every room. Each level of the home has a theme: western, Native American and wildlife, with corresponding art, in many cases originals, adorning the walls. Every bedroom is outfitted with a sleep number bed that allows each guest to determine the firmness of their side of the mattress. All counter tops are granite and showers are tiled. Hardwood and slate flooring can be found throughout. A sauna and hot tub provide relaxation for weary muscles, while fitness equipment allows you to tone them. Two 60" flat screens in the living areas as well as several bedroom TVs provide electronic entertainment if desired. A fully equipped kitchen along with a gas stove/oven and Weber grill enhance the cooking experience. Though opening the windows to the mountain air is typically sufficient for cooling in the summer months, the home is equipped with central air. For cooler seasons, the home has a state-of-the-art forced air furnace, along with a gas fireplace to add coziness and comfort. The property also boasts a detached 3 car garage.

About the host
Hosted by Wade Shafer
We are transplanted Minnesotans... came to Bozeman for our careers... and the warm weather! We formerly had a vacation rental in Detroit Lakes, MN listed on VRBO. Though we appreciated the cash flow, we really enjoyed meeting people from all over the country... some of whom we developed friendships with. Given our prior experience, we decided to buy a home in Bozeman for the same purpose. We just hosted our first guests in May '15.
