Located just three miles from Lake Michigan, Deerpath offers accommodations and a location that's close to all that is wonderful about "Up North" in Michigan. With a beautiful view, Deerpath sits on almost 18 acres, making the setting perfect for a little peace and quiet.
One of the unique features of Deerpath is there are complete separate living quarters on both the first and second floors. Both levels has its own kitchen, laundry, bedrooms and baths, which makes it perfect for two families that want to vacation together yet maintain some space. Rooms are windowed and the house is full light and sunshine during the day. Rental fee includes both levels.
The view of Betsie Valley and Lake Michigan in the distance makes for a stunning sunset view from the second story's living room or front deck. Excellent outdoor cooking facilities, a fire ring, and a horse shoe pit make up some of the outdoor amenities on site. And for days when the weather isn't cooperative, there's a comfy TV room with a large flat screen TV and DVD player and a variety of movies, as well as game rooms with a billiard table and a dart board, and a nice selection of family-friendly board games too.
The house is just minutes away from Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake beaches, downtown Frankfort, the Betsie Trail System, the Frankfort Public Marina, and Betsie River put-ins for kayaking, fishing, and canoeing. And you'll be within 20 minutes of many of the area's prime golf courses, including Champion Hill, Pinecroft, Crystal Lake, Chestnut Hills, and the award-winning courses at Arcadia Bluffs and Crystal Mountain.
This is my home and not a "rental unit" so you'll have nice towels, real flatware, good cookware, and nice dishes for your stay. You may have deer and wild turkeys wander through the yard, but they are good visitors and just pass peacefully through. The house has satellite TV and Internet service.
I do ask for at least least two personal references that are not relatives or members of the rental party prior to accepting a deposit and confirming the reservation.

Deerpath is a beautiful property in a great location. Great views of the surrounding area with a lot of space for campfires and parking. The home is well kept, clean and spacious, The pictures shown online do not fully represent the quality of the living spaces. The owner is responsive to all questions and takes pride in her property. I highly recommend Deerpath as a vacation destination. We have already booked for next year.
This was the cleanest home I have ever rented!! Home was beautiful and worked out well for us. Location was great for all the lakes and a short drive to sleeping bear dunes. The sunsets were Beautiful and we took some great pictures!! The only negative thing is the upstairs bedroom having glass doors, while they were beautiful doors, it would have been nice to have blinds or something to block out the light. We went to bed early and the lights from the stairs to go to the game room shine right into the room! Other than that it was a Beautiful and very Clean home in a great location!!
Our visit to Deerpath was wonderful! My first impressions of the house were how spacious it is and how clean it was. I stayed there with my parents, husband and two young sons. It met our needs so well. It is very quiet, peaceful and private. Our favorite places to go were the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, a sailing cruise at Tall Ships in Traverse City, the tubing excursion down the Platte River (although it's not nearly as relaxing as I had hoped) and the US Life Saving Service museums. We loved the beaches! If you want warmer water, go to the Platte Lake/Loon Lake Beach. The least inhabited was Elberta Beach. For a walk along the waterfront to see a great variety of homes, Beulah Beach is great. Overall a wonderful vacation! Thank you to Harriet for helping make it so.
We had an amazing stay at Deerpath! The house is so nice, clean, and spacious. Everything was arranged perfectly for our stay- even the wood was already prearranged in the fire pit. It really felt like we were staying in the home of a friend. The house is surrounded by woods and so it feels secluded, but you can just see lake Michigan from the upstairs balcony. So cool! Take me back!!! I hope we can stay again next year.
Harriett was WONDERFUL to work with. Always in communication to ensure the stay was perfect. The house was just what our family needed. The game area up stairs was used a lot by my family, it was perfect! The property was beautiful as well. We loved the short drive to town, but loved how secluded the house was. The house was above and beyond what we had envisioned. Definitely will keep this location on our radar for future travel! Thank you again Harriet for a wonderful stay!
My husband and two adult kids stayed for a week and had a great time. The house was clean, well stocked and close to Arcaida and Eurecka dunes. We enjoyed the deck in the evenings as well as darts and pool. Highly recommend!
Clean, spacious and well-appointed property, perfect for relaxing in the woods near Frankfort, MI. Owners are local and happy to respond to all requests. Convenient to local sights and restaurants, but secluded. Loved our two week stay!
We had an amazing time at this property. The property owner is exceptionally responsive and has thought of all of the little touches that made the stay even better. The property is quiet and relaxing. It is close to stores and the fun activities of the area. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again if we visit the area.
Great property. The owner has thought of everything and then some. The home is clean, comfortable and quiet. Plenty of entertainment with numerous amenities. The reservation, check in and checkout went smoothly. Can't wait until next year.
Excellent summer rental "up north." The best property we have stayed at over the last 20 years. Secluded yet convenient to Frankfort, Elberta, and points north and south along the coast. We plan to return on our next family reunion in two years.

Great vacation home and conveniently located!!
Loved staying at Harriet's home just outside Elberta/Frankfort as it afforded us privacy, plenty of room and close to the things we enjoy: Lake Michigan beaches, Frankfort amenities, trails and of course Sleeping Bear!

Clean, Spacious, & Comfortable
The owner has thought of so many things to make our stay pleasant. The kitchen is very well equipped and stocked, there are movies and magazines for the guests, lots of suggestions for activities in the area. Plenty of parking space for all the coming and going. The fire pit was a plus. Leaving the windows open and feeling the breeze through the house was wonderful. Close to Crystal Lake, bike trails and canoeing.

Very clean spacious home on beautiful property.
This was a fantastic find for a multi-family vacation. Good location near M-22 for many beautiful day trips and beach time, and the property is lovely. We enjoyed windows open and the Lake Michigan breeze, and birds and other wildlife on the propety. The house was very clean when we arrived. Lots of space for families to spread out in the 3 story house, always a plus for vacation. The owner was a gracious host, with a good balance of helpful information ahead of arrival, and also text messages during the trip. This is a place to unplug: no internet and very limited TV channels. Overall, a wonderful stay in beautiful northern Michigan.

Beautiful property located just outside Frankfort!
Beautiful home set in a private, serene setting just 7 miles from Frankfort. My family enjoyed the fire pit, horse shoes, two kitchens, BBQ and more. I highly recommend if you don't want the hustle & bustle of town. Two full beds, one roll-out couch, two twins, one twin rollout. Plus a large game room!

Absolutely gorgeous and tranquil!!
Upon entering the long driveway to Deerpath, the anticipation and excitement of our family grew. Then, when we came through the clearing and the house appeared, we were instantly blown away. The house is much more grand and beautiful than any pictures could ever convey. The property sits on a very private lot. The house was spotless and very well maintained. We had 9 family members staying in the home total and it accommodated us perfectly. There was plenty of room to move around in the house, so we did not bump into each other and plenty of space for the kids to run around and play both inside and outside of the home. We utilized the bonfire pit and roasted marshmallows a few nights. Having two kitchens was lovely and very useful. We were able to cook a very large family meal for our extended family in Michigan. We certainly utilized ever single square inch of that home and property; we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and would highly recommend the home to friends and family in the future. We do have plans on coming back next year. We were also able to explore the surrounding Elberta, Frankfort and Traverse City areas. We spent a day exploring Frankfort, swimming at the Frankfort beach and Betsie Lighthouse beach. We spent another day swimming at the Elberta beach; which we would highly recommend. The view is spectacular and the beach is very private, however, it's a public beach. We spent two days exploring Traverse City. One day shopping and another day just walking downtown. We also HIGHLY recommend visiting Cherry Republic. It was the childrens' favorite part of our vacation. The cherry wine, cherry soda and cherry ice cream were all hits among our family. Overall, this was one of the best vacations we have ever been on. It was peaceful, relaxing, serene and action packed all at the same time. So much to do and so much beaty to explore in "Pure Michigan"!

My husband and I stayed here with two other couples. We had a blast seeing the local attractions and chartering a local fishing boat. Staying at the property was perfect. Plenty of room for all of us and all kinds of fun things to do. Nice fire pit, bikes and great view. Perfect location to frankfort and a nice drive to sleeping bear dunes. Kitchen was amazing and fully stocked grill and cooking were easy and accessible because everything was right there! Washer and dryer on each floor. I would highly recommend this rental to everyone!

Beautiful House, Awesome Location!
Our family along with another family (4 adults, six children total) just completed a six day stay at the property. Here are the quick pros/cons:
Pros:
- Beautiful, well-designed house, plenty of room for our two families
- Amazing views from the 2nd/3rd story windows and deck
- Huge yard and paved driveway (perfect for the kids!)
- Two full kitchens and two dining areas (1st and 2nd floor)
- Both kitchens were well-provisioned. Every type of utensil, pot/pan, bowl, and spice imaginable was provided.
- Big fire pit for smores, evening fun
- Fantastic location: 10 min to Frankfort and Crystal lake, 20 min to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park
- Owner was friendly, responsive, and super helpful. She accommodated a significant change to our reservation, provided us with updated tourism info, and immediately addressed a problem with the house that came up during our stay without an additional charge to us.
Cons:
- I can't think of any. We've stayed at VRBO rentals in Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida, and this house and owner were by far the best.
Bottom line: The house was absolutely perfect. We would definitely stay there again if possible. Highly recommend it to all.

Why they chose this property
Simply put, I love my house and the property it sits on. There is a beautiful view of Betsie Valley with Lake Michigan on the horizon and the sunsets are awesome! Even the nights are pretty, with a sky full of stars overhead and, on occasion, the Northern Lights dance across the night sky. Deerpath is far enough away from town to provide peace and quiet, yet close enough to be convenient to the activities of Lake Michigan and nearby Frankfort. The house is spacious, yet warm and inviting.
If you are into cycling the roads or trails this location is perfect. Miles and miles of smooth challenging country roads will keep even the top Cat 1 riders amazed. (You'll look at the woods and wonder where the mountains are!) Northern Michigan hosted the first world cup race ever held in North America. The local trails feature power climbs that at the end of the day will provide plenty of elevation change and lots of high speed tight single track.
What makes this property unique
What makes this home unique is it is a complete separate home on the both first and second floors. Each primary level has its own kitchen, laundry, bedrooms and baths, which makes it perfect for two families or a larger group who want to vacation together yet maintain some of their own space. The house is in a quiet rural setting, yet has high speed Internet and great cell coverage for the major carriers. It's also a short easy drive to the water and to town.
