We will send a response to you, usually within a few hours of our receiving the Reservation Request, in order to confirm some information. You need to reply back in order for us to finalize the Reservation. If we do not hear back promptly from a Guest in response to our email, please be aware that the Reservation Request may expire, or we may notify VRBO to try to contact the prospective Guest.

Please do NOT send a phone number (or email). Phone numbers (and emails) are not visible to either Guest or Property Owner until a Reservation is in place. VRBO will show them as a series of "X" symbols to the opposite party.

Enjoy your summer vacation in this Beach Classic! Lovely Victorian-era home (built in 1906 in a Dutch Colonial style) with tropical ambiance and décor, situated within prime, barefoot strolling distance (just 2 BLOCKS!) from the beach. Ready to host your family, the roomy 2,300 sq ft house has 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths (includes one en suite), plus outdoor shower with hot/cold, comfortable living room (with a tropical tiki vibe), big kitchen with cozy breakfast table for your morning coffee, separate dining room, internet/Wi-Fi, two televisions, plus nice book library. Original wood floors on first floor with area rugs.

Mattresses and box springs are deluxe gel-foam core over individual coils, on high profile frames. Updated windows, storm doors, shutters, driveway, privacy fence, outdoor shower and more, plus inside updated area rugs, ceiling fans, fresh paint, light filtering blinds, and several major appliances. Recent 2022-2024 updates include new living room furnishings and new a/c units. New propane grill as of Fall 2024 season.

The Hula House has one of the largest fenced yards on Lewes Beach and actually has TWO yards – a small side fenced yard plus a big rear yard fully enclosed by a 7-foot privacy fence, large deck, picnic table and umbrella, roomy outdoor shower (hot/cold), and a grassy area for sunning or play. ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMALS OR PETS ARE PERMITTED ON PROPERTY.

The home's front porch is the perfect place for enjoying a lemonade while people-watching (front porch has two picnic tables, ideal for Maryland Blue Crab feasts!). While everyone on vacation wants to enjoy the many dining opportunities in the area, Guests will appreciate the spacious kitchen with electric stove/oven, fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee pod machine and dishwasher.

Great location, with a quick, barefoot, 1.5 block walk to the public beach or enjoy a short 5-block stroll to the canal with its restaurants, and charter fishing and sight-seeing cruises, OR walk to the historic downtown area just across the canal bridge and filled with many small boutiques and restaurants. Bike, or hop in your car, for a 1-mile drive down to the Cape-May-Lewes Ferry (a 90-minute ferry ride each way, and great for dolphin watching and just relaxing), or visit Cape Henlopen State Park and the many programs they offer for kids and adults alike, plus the waves of the Atlantic Ocean at the public beach!

For those Guests who don't want to worry about packing their own towels and linens, we work with an excellent local company that provides everything a vacationer might need - from beach towels and bed linens to bikes and beach chairs. Almost all of our Guests take advantage of this service and have let us know they appreciate the convenience and very reasonable fees, and quality of the linens/towels. Guests just notify us a couple days in advance of arrival if they want to rent linens/towels and we will put them in touch.

We strive to consistently provide our Guests with a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable stay. The Hula House is Hawaiian-tropical-eclectic, clean, relaxed and fun, and is the perfect place for vacationers who hold the Aloha spirit in their soul.

The home is an animal-free zone. Absolutely NO pets/animals are permitted due to a member of our family being on immuno-suppression drugs. We expect those with any animal to respect this guideline, rather than selfishly ignoring the safety concerns of our family.

No smoking or vaping inside, or near house open windows or doors.

Guest count is limited to a max of 8 (see listing); no additional persons permitted.
All members of rental party must be disclosed when placing reservation.
