Our view is that overall self catering was not a good holiday choice for these guests and we regret they chose our cottage . Their review is different in every category to our previous guest reviews - including the recent reviews from the past weeks and months , which are 5 star reviews reporting a clean , well maintained property , accurately described , in a good location with a helpful host . It is simply not possible it changed so much in just a few days since previously reviewed . We are rated “Premier Hosts “ the top accolade on this platform which requires consistent 5 out 5 star guest reviews over a prolonged period . Our experience with these guests was not good : They arrived later than expected so used our self checkin .After their arrival at the cottage I received a phone call advising they had been delayed at customs and taken a wrong turn . I asked them if they were happy all was well at the cottage and they told me just they could not connect to our WiFi . I had been at the cottage earlier that day and used the WiFi .I asked them to try turning the modem off and on again. I followed up on this , confirming from our provider that there was no fault and tried to phone /message them on several occasions over the following days without response before they eventually answered that they “weren’t bothering with WiFi” . I had no further communication from them until a few days before their planned checkout they sent a message to say they had already left , stating simply they decided to get an earlier ferry . On our inspection after their departure we discovered: * The Wi-Fi was working ,they had simply turned off the Wi-Fi button on the modem. * The guests had allowed their dog on the couch and to sleep upstairs - we welcome pets on condition they remain downstairs and off the furniture.This is a house rule . * One of the gates on the driveway had been knocked from its post at some time during their stay .Guests are required to advise us if damage /breakages to the property during their stay We expect guests to abide by our house rules .Their early departure prevented us the opportunity to have a checkout inspection with them . As regards the photos which they claim are “staged”: They are just normal photos to show the cottage rooms and garden areas so guests can decide before booking if it’s to their taste .All previous guests have noted photos to be accurate . These guests clearly prefer a different style so we are very confused as to why they booked it . We are disappointed they did not comply with our house rules , failed to report damage caused to the property .we cannot recommend them to other hosts and refute this review .
