A great house in the woods with a spectacular view remote in the mountains. Animals visiting from time to time. Had a great time there and Mike was easy to contact and very helpful with informations.
This property was perfect for our family of four. We did not use the Guest House, yet would have, had we more people in our group. The view is spectacular. So many birds and butterflies. The grounds are gorgeous. The Pool is lovely and clean. Be sure to have a really good 4x4 vehicle! Thank you Mike for sharing your beautiful property, we would visit again!

The landscape is awesome!
Mike is an excellent host. He answers really fast any question you may have! The landscape and the pool are amazing! On the other hand, the photos of the house are not true to it. It is smaller than expected and, for a 3 years old house, there are many problems; kitchen sink had a leak that we repaired, the dishwasher also had a leak (repaired), the a/c of the upstairs bedroom stinks a lot, the outside shower drains are blocked, so the water runs in the bedroom, the ceiling has mildew and there aren't enough dishes for 7 persons. On arrival, we weren't sure that the house had been cleaned and the bedsheets changed but Mike had someone come to fix this. Otherwise, we saw some animals like, birds, Monkey, tayra, lézard and frogs right around it! And we had banana trees too!

Response from VrboOwner on 18 Mar 2020
I am writing this response from my house in Costa Rica and arrived 4 days after Nadine's family left. The first question I ask guests,"have you been to Costa Rica, Nadine had not, so I explained some of the nuances of the country. The next is "have you looked at each room to see if the bed situation will work for your guest? She said it would and that is why a picture of each room is posted. The pictures of the house are what they are, I don't have the knowledge to doctor pictures to make it look bigger or smaller. I counted the plates and glasses today and there are 14,so I would guess it's enough for 7 people. I had verified with the housekeeper if the house was ready for their arrival, she confirmed it was all set. I never book my house for same day departure and arrival. It gives the housekeeper and her helper time. When I received a texted stating she was skeptical anything was done and the bathrooms were disgusting. I called the housekeeper and she said they went the day before and back that day to finish. The guest arrived 3 hours later. I sent the caretakers wife and daughter up to take care of the problems. Nadine confirmed all was good. Upon my arrival I asked how long she worked, and she told me an hour. There was a gecko in the bathroom and the gecko had pooped on the cover of the outside bathroom. The other problem was that a bull frog had pooped on the deck. You are in the jungle. The shower head was aiming out so water did leave the area. The drain was slow, which is fixed. I don't do this as a business like a lot of people do now a days. This is my home and it's not perfect. The rainy season, heat, and humidity take a toll on the house so there is always something to do. I hope the best works out for this family.

Loved our visit!
We had two families of four and there was room for everyone. We really enjoyed the pool, the privacy, and the jungle views. Toucans and parrots were regularly flying around the property! Mike's Jungle House is in a great location, close to many hikes, waterfalls, beaches, and not too far from Manuel Antonio. Mike was great in providing information to help make our first trip to Costa Rica a great experience.

Great House
The house is beautiful in a quiet secluded area. Each room has it's own bathroom and the guesthouse is ideal for our teenage son.

Great house and friendly owner
I have just returned from a trip to Costa Rica and this house was fantastic. Being in the jungle and seeing wildlife everyday was great. Having the pool to cool off whenever you felt like was very nice. I was with a group of a total of 6 and there was more then enough room for us all. Mike was extremely helpful with recommendations on activities in the area, I highly suggest the waterfall right down the road from the house. He was very accommodating with last minute changes to our travel plans, and was quick to answer any questions and get back in contact with you. The town of Dominical has a very nice vibe to it and all the locals were very friendly and helpful as well. Thanks for a great trip that my friends and I had an amazing time on.

Absolute Paradise!!
Just got back from the most romantic honeymoon spent at Mike's house in Dominical! This place is amazing - the attention to detail is absolutely incredible. The house is airy, open and light. It sleeps 8 people easily, everyone having their own private bathroom. The master suite has two bathrooms, one indoors and one OUTSIDE! You haven't really lived until you bathe outside, looking down at the gorgeous mountains and valleys. The kitchen is huge with tons of counter space (beautiful granite) and stainless steel appliances. There are two great patios, one that is screened off downstairs, and another large patio off the master bedroom. There is AC in the bedrooms (I don't think in the guest house, but we didn't go in there) and ceiling fans in the downstairs bedrooms, living rooms and downstairs patio. We loved sleeping with the French doors open - the screens are great for that! And it's a beautiful view to wake up to: birdsong is the best "alarm clock" there is!
There's WiFi (awesome for the course work I had to complete and turn in while away) and satellite TV with all your American favorites, but trust me, even if you never leave the property there's so much to keep you occupied that TV is at the bottom of the entertainment list.
We had a blast taking pictures of the beautiful landscaping and all the wonderful creatures! There are amazing birds, amphibians (we got some frog visitors hanging by the pool at night - SO COOL!) and beautiful pink dragon flies. We even saw gliding birds of prey from the backyard, and one landed in front of us in the driveway!
And the pool! Oh, it was so lovely having your own private pool to swim in! It's very well designed - we loved the large shallow shelf to sunbathe, and the lap section was nice and deep for a dunk from the hot weather.
For about half of our trip, we stayed at the property, only leaving for quick grocery runs. It is so gorgeous that we didn't feel the need to leave! Can't wait to go back - this place is truly paradise.

Relaxing stay
This place is a new house ,peaceful and a beautiful retreat. We had a large family and it was great that everyone had their own bathroom. The pool had a lap section so I could get my exercise in while here on my stay. The kids loved the lights in the pool and American TV. A flock of toucans would stop by each morning. Great place!

The most beautiful jungle retreat! Comfortable, even for the novice rain forest visitor...
I stayed at Mike's Jungle House with my family this past June and it was amazing. It has all the comforts of home in the middle of the most serene setting imaginable. The house is beautifully decorated, has a beautiful new pool and 5 bathrooms, so all guests have their own. The master bedroom has an indoor and outdoor bath with stunning views. It is all the way up in the mountains in a gated area, but there was no concern for safety! Who'd find you up there? There is satellite TV if you just can't break away from your favorite programs, but all you have to do is look out the huge accordion french doors and you'll see the best show nature could ever perform! It's not near the touristy areas, but close enough to Manuel Antonio that if you need excursions, restaurants, etc you can satiate that requirement too! The house easily sleeps 8, but if you need it, there is also a guest house, studio apt available also. I absolutely loved my Costa Rican vacation and I am a city slicker! Have never been in this setting before, but felt right at home because of the attention to detail he took to make this place comfortable. He's always available by phone and the local caretaker is as well. While there we went to Manuel Antonio, took a catamaran boat ride, stopped at local road side restaurants (best food ever!), and of course went to the beach! If you're a surfer, Dominical beach is the one for you (only about 15 mins away), but be careful, the riptides are serious!!!! I can't wait to go back. I recommend it without any reservations, but if you're squeamish about wildlife, frogs, spiders, etc... you'll want to be prepared! This is their environment, You will be the visitor. Oh, and don't forget to pull some starfruit off the trees near the entrance. Delish!

Why they chose this property
Although it is nice to be located at the beach, it is extremely hot and busy. This house is located minutes away in the hills, that is peaceful and cooling afternoon breezes. The house is equipped with streaming T.V. from the States, Bluetooth speak system and a deluxe gas grill. Each room has it's own A/C unit and private bathroom. ( the guesthouse only has a ceiling fan)
