Welcome to paradise.....
Imagination is a powerful tool so very rarely will reality exceed expectation. Well, on this occasion it most certainly did. Hale Nanea was more than we could have hoped for. The photos just don’t do it justice. The house is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need for a home away from home. The gardens are stunning but the view of the beach and the ocean will simply take your breath away. Standing at the end of the garden looking out at the ocean gives a great sense of peace and contentment. In a world where everything is so frantic and instant it is like time stands still here. It’s magical.
We rarely saw people on the beach during our stay. We did see plenty of crabs working furiously throughout the day and of course a fine array of turtles. I could sit for hours watching for their heads popping up from the water and never get bored. My greatest thrill was sitting reading and being joined by an enormous turtle only four feet away. We both sat for a couple of hours catching some rays. I think I was more in awe of him than he was of me
The town of Haleiwa is a short drive away and has everything you may need from a supermarket to a hardware store, from a place to eat to a souvenir shop. Everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Laura and Jake are a lovely couple very warm and welcoming. They offered us the use of their surf board and paddle boards and Laura gave us some fresh mango and guava grown by her friend. They were on hand if we had questions and lovely people to talk to.
We spent the best 8 days of our holiday here. I must admit we were very reluctant to leave. When we return to the North Shore, as I’m sure we will in the future, we would definitely stay here again. Quite simply it’s paradise.
