Details below: * Stay in a 119 year old updated house that is owned by the same family for over 55 years! * Enjoy the OUTDOOR PATIO SPACE with umbrella, table and chairs. * NEWLY renovated 2nd floor bathroom. * NEWLY renovated 3rd floor bathroom. * The apartment is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the house that is located in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Cape May. Please note, the house has always been elevated with a number of steps up to the 2nd floor apartment, and therefore may not be suited for those with mobility concerns. * The beach is three blocks away and you can hear the waves especially at night. * Beach chairs and a beach cart are supplied. * The apartment sleeps up to eight people, has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, sitting room and kitchen. * The kitchen has been renovated and has stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops and beautiful new cabinets. * The apartment is fully air conditioned with AC units installed in each of the bedrooms and living room. * Ceiling fans or tower fan are in bedrooms, and in the kitchen and living room. * Comcast TV and high speed Internet are available for your entertainment. * A washer and dryer is on site for your convenience! * The house is an easy 3 block walk to the beach, and you may take a short stroll down to the boardwalk or Washington Street Mall. Cape May is an ideal place to bicycle. Bring your bike and ride to Sunset Beach or about town. You may store your bikes in the basement. Bird watch at Cape May Point State Park, a birder's paradise any time of the year.
Our house was built in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Cape May by Jeremiah Mecray in 1907 and has been owned by our family since 1968. Recent upgrades include the outside patio, kitchen, 2nd & 3rd floor bathrooms, AC/heat units, washer/dryer, freshly painted rooms and exterior, new carpets, and rebuilt outside shower with changing area. This restful, comfortable apartment has four bedrooms, two on the 2nd floor and two on the 3rd floor that sleep up to eight guests, two full baths, complete kitchen/dining room, living room with flat screen smart TV, DVD/VCR and free WiFi. A charcoal grill is available to use in the yard with our patio and seating. We have clotheslines to hang your beach towels and parking in the driveway for one vehicle, or free parking on the street. The entrance to the apartment is by a private side stairway off Jefferson Street. Our family has been sharing the Cape May Vacation House with rental guests for over 50 years and every effort has been made towards our guests' comfort.

Although there were a bunch of steps it wasn’t hard to navigate at all. We were comfortable and had plenty of space. Excellent location and so close to the beach! The owner and his daughter could not have been nicer! Would definitely stay here again.

It was a great house and location to the beach and mall. Very clean and the hosts are very nice/accommodating! The only thing was that we wished the kitchen table was bigger and updated for everyone to be able to sit together. Otherwise it was a fabulous week and plenty of space for everyone!

The property is exactly as pictured and described. The stairs weren't as crazy as some other reviewers have commented, and we had 2 babies under the age of 2. The location was ideal, close to the beach and town!

819 Benton is a great location for a Cape May vacation! The beach, strolling along Washington Steet Mall, restaurants, historic spots, bike rentals, ice cream, even the Acme supermarket are only a few minutes walk away.
The house is a perfect blend of modern beach house and cool Cape May!

My family of four recently rented this property. The location is perfect, so close to everything but nice and quiet as well. Having my two young teens with their own rooms and bathroom on the third floor was a great bonus for us! The kitchen was nicely equipped and check in and check out was a breeze. The owner is very responsive.

We had a wonderful time in this comfortable Cape May home. Location could not have been better-easy walk to beach and shopping area through a lovely residential neighborhood. It had everything needed for our family-beach chairs, well stocked cozy kitchen, beautiful patio, comfy bedrooms. The hosts were quick to communicate any time we had a question and were a pleasure to work with. Lots of stairs-so may not be appropriate for everyone.

We had a great family vacation at the property which was central to everything. As advertised, it is on the upper floors, so keep that in mind. a lot of stairs packing/unpacking the car if you have little kids that can't help much.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at this property. It’s a short walk to the beach, close to the action too. The kitchen is updated and boasts lots of storage. Another plus is the outdoor shower. 1 parking spot is available in the driveway and there was always street parking in front of the house as well. The owners were easily accessible for a quick question.

Why they chose this property
We purchased this property to allow our family to come and vacation in Cape May. Over the years family and friends have gathered to enjoy visiting with each other in beautiful Cape May. We have discovered some of the history of the house. The house was built by Jeremiah E. and Rachel Mecray in 1907. Jeremiah owned and sub-divided the entire block which is bordered by Benton Avenue, Franklin Street, Sewell Avenue and Jefferson Street. The entire parcel of land cost $4250 in the early 1900s! This house seems to be one of the first that was built on the block. As you travel around the block you may notice several that have a similar style of architecture.
