Penny wise & pound foolish - Stay 2 of 2

Our return to the property on our way back to Australia found that the sink taps had been replaced and the leak fixed. The "amenities" were appalling in quantity per our previous stay - we ended up purchasing our own on the 1st stay and used it for our second stay too.This property would work for a couple staying a night or 2. I would not stay here again as the owner / manager does not provide sufficient basics - soap, shampoo, etc. for a family of 4 to last more than a night, though is happy to charge the exorbitant prices for a few nights stay in Waikiki.

Amazing Place & Accomodations

Loved how close this place was to everything downtown. PLUS the free gated parking was an absolute bonus as parking can be difficult and expensive in this area. It was great that they had a fully stocked kitchen which made coffe and breakfast nice. They also have other amenities such as a beach chair, umbrella, boogie boards, stroller, iron and table and so much more! When we needed a new lighbulb the property manager was over by the next day which was fantastic.

We received an e-mail and text message with the information a couple days ahead of check in. The condo had everything that was needed for our stay. The beach is about two blocks away. The street the condo is on has many food trucks, the street behind the condo has moped rentals, and there are two abc stores with one block either way of the condo. The Honolulu Zoo is one block over from the condo as well.

Hidden gem in the heart of Waikiki

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Waikiki Cabanas. It was the perfect spot with easy access to the beach and all Waikiki has to offer. We did text the contact number when we were there and had issues with the sliding door and key fob but received no response. Would have appreciated my message be returned.

Great Location!

Very close to the zoo and the beach. Area was safe and had food trucks right outside the gate. It was a bit loud in the evening but I didn’t mind too much since this a place for fun and vacationing. The coin washer/dryer worked fine. I was able to get quarters and laundry soap at the ABC around the corner. There was easy access in and out with they key fobs. Didn’t use the sleeper sofa, but if a small family or friend group stayed here, I could see it working out.

Over all good place to stay

I would suggest a booklet telling how things work like the tv. cable box. I know that the shower thing has a picture in the bathroom but did not see it. So have that in the book. For two days we didn't go out to eat so went to use the microwave and the power strip blew several times trying to warm something up. Too many on one power strip, maybe a chair in the living room, we took one of the chairs off of the patio to sit in to use.

Wish I Stayed Elsewhere

I am not one to leave negative reviews, but I am sorry to say I would not recommend this VRBO. For this property the cons simply outweigh the pros. PROS - the location is great. It’s close to the beach & on the same street as food trucks. CONS - The pictures of the apartment make it appear bright & clean, but unfortunately I found the apartment to be dingy. I chose the apartment because of the note that it is “professionally sanitized,” but there were scuff marks and dirt all along the walls & baseboards. The bathroom left much to be desired. Some of the window blinds were broken & there were ants crawling out of the AC unit. Security of the apartment was a concern. We were provided fobs to access the front gate, but we often found the gate propped open. We loved staying on the street with the food vendors, but this causes a lot of foot traffic & some unsavory folks hanging around. Despite repeatedly closing the gate, I would find it open again. My biggest complaint was getting locked out on the back porch. I stayed at this VRBO to get ready for my wedding. The night of my wedding, my husband and I went on the back porch & when I closed the door (no screen) it locked automatically and we were trapped. Fortunately, a friend was able to rescue us but after about an hour. We missed plans on our wedding night because of this. I contacted the owners to let them know of this issue & how upset I was. The response did not put me ease it was generic and didn’t address the issue.

We had issue with the A/C but we received assistance quickly, in any case A/C still kept leaking also after maintenance came, so I would recommend to check it. Toaster needs to be changed as it makes a lot of smoke and activates fire alarm. Overall a good stay!

Penny wise & pound foolish - Stay 1 of 2

We stayed at this property twice and this review is for the 1st stay from 29 Dec to 2nd Jan. The "dongle" for the gate to park is found in the lock box attached to the gate. The apartment was absolutely clean and we could smell the pine o clean. We moved the coffee table toward the kitchen to open up the sofa bed for the kids to sleep on. All linen and towels were provided. I tried to reach the property staff regarding hot water in the shower and since it was a Sunday, no one was available. The tap opens in 1 direction only and the further you move it counter-clockwise, the warmer it gets (which is confusing to the average person that would move a tap in 1 direction for cold water and the opposite direction for hot water)Now to the "penny wise & pound foolish" title. On the day of leaving Australia we received the email about toiletries etc. and to our shock found that there was literally 1 finger length tubes of body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, along with a tiny bar of hand soap. Given we were staying for 4 nights and had spent almost US1800 on the stay, I would say this is completely unacceptable for a family of 4. A bar of soap at the groceries cost little over US1. How cheap is the owner?Additionally, there were minor water leaks from the sink taps (that were repaired by the time we returned for our 2nd stay) though the level of "amenities" for a family of 4 were the same.I will not stay here again.

There is an extremely erotic picture of a cartoonish Hawaiian hunk with only a lei covering his member directly next to the bed. This was beyond hilarious and made my entire stay. Was very tempted to just take it and eat the fine.

Big City Noise

Advantage of free parking. Waikiki is a big city. Probably quieter in downtown Honolulu. The property is what it is, a studio. The kitchen is adequate. BBQ grill operated well. Had a little trouble with the washer not operating completely. If you are claustrophobic this doesn't work. Contruction going the entire time.
