Really enjoyed the view. Appliances need to be replaced. The bathrooms weren’t very clean. Rugs look old and not washed. Yard was nice for our dog and fire pit had a nice view.

Thank you for your review.
We understand that you were upset because we could not let you check in hours earlier than the check-in time. Early check-in aren’t possible on flip days when Guest depart the same morning, as the cabin must be fully clean and prepared. I understand this caused frustration and I’m sorry for that.
Regarding the concerns about rugs and appliances, everything was inspected after your stay and found to be in normal working order. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and I’m always committed to maintaining a comfortable space for guests.
The rugs are a wool blend that are only two years old. We know they have a rustic look, , but that is to match the rustic/modern style of the cabin.
The appliances have all been updated in the last two years to high-end stainless steel.
We checked the bathrooms, there was one soap dispenser that for some reason, the soap was coming out without us pushing the pump. Sorry that that resulted in small drops on the bath counter.
We surely take pride in our 73% return guest rate. We are in the top 4% of cabins in Highlands, with our return rate of guests and reviews. We appreciate all of our guests and do everything we can to make sure they have a wonderful stay in fabulous Highlands, North Carolina.
Thank you,

Disliked: Listing accuracy
The house is very private with a nice hot tub and view. However, none of the 3 bedrooms had accessible closets, nor luggage racks so you had to live out of your suitcase on the floor. Master had a small chest of drawers but the room was too small to use it easily. The deck provides a good view, but we didn’t want to stay long because the furniture was so uncomfortable; 2 log rocking chairs and a table with chairs. All cushions were dirty. Lastly, the house could do with a major decluttering. It felt cramped with just 2 of us.
Beautiful view in a serene setting. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful. Great hiking and waterfall viewing nearby. My family with teen boys enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub under the stars and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. The house is well equipped. Simply a slice of heaven.

The view from the porch was excellent. The host was readily responsive to assist with internet and Dish TV issues. A miscommunication with the cleaners who were not expecting guests on arrival date, came and cleaned what appeared to be a moldy shower, The host admitted was her mistake but no offer for compensation. Received notice after booking of rules to be agreed on prior to booking. Did not use the grill, unable to start, hot tub, told had a hole in it, or oven, told to remove all pots/pans prior to using. Also, told a service fee for leaving out food causing ants or other services that needed to come while there. We experienced a critter chewing thru a bag on the kitchen counter after crackers. Otherwise, we enjoyed the peace and quietness of the cabin with a view. Seems the photos were not accurate as expected.

We always strive to take wonderful care of our guests and have them experience a fabulous stay.
Though the comments were inaccurate, we still appreciate you choosing to stay with us. Things to note for all of our future guests.
The hot tub works perfectly, we have a contract with pest control, though the food left on the counter did attract ants. We do ask that the baking pans be taken out out of the oven before turning the oven on as we store them in the oven.
The grill works perfectly when lit with a match
We understand you did not want to use a match.
We appreciate you telling us during your stay how much you were enjoying the cabin and that it was fully stocked perfectly for your stay.
Though the Hot tub has a tiny leak, we only mentioned that to you in case the water level receded at all during your stay so you could let us know.
We appreciate your complementary comments during your stay and afterwards, and hope that you will consider staying again with us in your future travels.
PS, even with the food being left out and having to call the staff, we never charged a service charged to you for anything at all.
Thanks again!
Owner was very easy to deal with thru VRBO. Getting key out of lockbox upon our arrival was our only issue. Cabin description in alignment with description on site. Close proximity to where we wanted to go. Cabin was decorated well, and supplied with most anything you would need during your stay. Made for an enjoyable getaway.
The cabin was beautiful with amazing views and pet friendly! Our boys loved playing with the musical instruments and air hockey table. We also loved the fire pit and hot tub combo. We were even able to see some shooting stars. During our visit we saw dry falls (a highlands must see) and hiked to see Glen falls. Both were relatively close. Dj, was a wonderful host.

We loved this property!! We spent most of our time on the porch. The view of the mountains were wonderful and very relaxing!! The bed I slept in was excellent. I liked it so much that I asked them to provide the brand name. You won't be disappointed.
We loved the location of the cabin and all of the amenities. Stocked kitchen, beautiful porch, fun, game room, great view! Nearby hiking and snow tubing was fun.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The view is fantastic and the location is convenient for day trips to Highlands and local hiking spots. Everything was clean and in good working order. We will certainly consider staying here again.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Hunter's Lodge. We look forward to having you back soon! DJ
Great to be back in Highlands. The location was peaceful, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit, hummingbirds, and saw a beaver one evening eating kudzu. Enjoyed our time for sure and definitely enjoyed the cooler weather.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay over the 4th of July in DJ’s well appointed and maintained home! Host is an excellent and quick communicator. Location was perfect in Highlands - close to trails & waterfalls or a short drive to town.
Clean, organized, great communication. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you!

Our dream has always been to be able to live full-time up in Highlands, North Carolina. One of the must halves was great views. We built this wonderful three bedroom cabin and filled it with all the amenities that not only we love, but our guests truly appreciate. We live in the Atlanta area and look forward to whenever we get to come up to our little oasis on the mountain top!
Why they chose this property
You feel like you’re in your own private oasis up on the mountain yet you are only 15 minutes from 5star chef driven restaurants and wonderful shopping in downtown Highlands.
What makes this property unique
Our guests love the views and spend lots of time outside at the fire pit area, enjoying the hot tub, grilling on the large covered back deck and hiking on all the wonderful trails that take you to magnificent waterfalls.
