The cabin was in a quiet area, isolated in the trees from the houses around. It was clean, the hosts were very thoughtful and checked on us via message during our stay. They were very kind and made sure to include a binder full of attractions, stores, and restaurants. We were located about 10 minutes from Marlinton, and there were many attractions within a 30-45 minute radius. Great cabin in a beautiful location!
Beautiful place in a beautiful area with an incredible array of attractions nearby. Great, responsive hosts. Would return again if we are back in that area in a heartbeat. Thanks!
The cabin is extremely private yet a short walk to the Greenbrier River. A perfect place to stay for wanting to hike or bike in the area. Our third time and we’ll return again.
The listing was exactly as described. Additionally, there is no photo of one wall, which contains a sofa, a small chest-of-drawers, and an end table. There is a small closet with room to hang a few things. And there was a patio umbrella (not pictured).
Don't expect to use the internet (pack your maps) or be able to watch the water from the cabin. Do expect to be comfortable and rested and in a great location to explore the area. Water access (wading/kayak put in) is available, downhill at end of the driveway. Greenbriar bike trail is on the opposite side of water, so a short drive is needed to access. Marlington had all the necessities we required. Grill is charcoal (charcoal provided). Simple, affordable, friendly, and cozy way to experience Pocahontas County.
We could not have found a better place to explore this beautiful part of the world. It was close to the Greenbriar River Trail and we spent a lot of our time on this bike trail. The parking entry point is really close at Buckeye. The cabin was clean and we felt very comfortable there. Carter and Maureen were great hosts! They both went beyond the call of duty to help us with our car trouble. We are very grateful for their kindness. We recommend Watoga State Park where we saw a black bear loping through the woods. And also Beartown State park, so unusually cool! We also rode up to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park and spent time at the Company Store. There is just so much to see and explore in this area, by bicycle or by car. And you have a lovely cabin to come home to at night.
It was a great little cabin for a weekend getaway . Peaceful, private , and up a little hill from the very clean river ! Would definitely stay again! Also their is a back road to watoga state park which was very nice .
Perfect location to enjoy some mountain and stream beauty in West Virginia. Had a great time trying out some fly fishing with my son. Hosts were awesome. Wifi and cellphone are a little sketchy but that might not be a bad thing if you're looking to get away.
Nice cabin. Located walking distance to river. Close to sights in/around Marlinton, including Cranberry Glades, Falls of Hills Creek and Highland Scenic Highway. Cass Scenic Railroad is about 35-40 minutes north. Would recommend for those who want to get away for a few days.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was so quiet and relaxing backed up to the woods. We are glad we stayed a couple of days longer than originally anticipated. The amenities were perfect and Carter and Maureen were very considerate hosts. The natural sites of Pocahontas County are breathtaking. The biking and birding along the Greenbriar River Trail was fantastic. We have many happy memories from our stay.
This was a fun stay. The location by the river is great. It was cozy and the hosts were accommodating! It is about an hour from most restaurants / stores , but that was exactly what we expected -- a nice opportunity to recharge!
Cabin was very well stocked and clean! It had everything we needed plus! Loved the fireplace! Great location in the woods up on a hill. Really enjoyed the surrounding area. The owner was very accommodating. Thank you for your hospitality!
The cottage was absolutely wonderful! It was very clean, and Carter checked in on us via phone to ensure we were able to find the property with ease and anything else we needed. We loved the binder that Carter had made that gave extra information about everything in the area. The cottage was in the perfect location! We were able to get to Cranberry Glades, Droop Mountain, Watoga State Park, and Beartown with ease.
We are already discussing our next trip to the area! I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
A perfect spot to take day hikes throughout the Cranberry Wilderness are. Room enough for two. Full kitchen and comfortable furnishings. Peaceful location on the Greenbrier River.

We bought this property because of its unique location on one of the most beautiful, family-friendly rivers in West Virginia, offering fishing, paddling, tubing, swimming, biking and hiking. Pocohontas County is one of the outdoor friendly places in West Virginia. We are minutes away from hiking/backpacking trains, mountain streams, waterfalls and wildlife. On the property itself, you may encounter deer, raccoons, turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks, and very occasionally, a black bear. The Greenbrier River is home to beaver, trout, bass, otters, bald eagles, blue herons, ospreys. Songbirds are plentiful.
The property is minutes away from Cranberry Glades, a unique Canada-like ecosystem with plants typically only found in northern climates.
The Glades are part of the Cranberry Backcountry which provides multiple hiking and backpacking opportunities. The Greenbrier River Trail runs nearly the length of the Greenbrier River. We often see hikers and bikers on the trail while swimming.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, our place is for you!
