Beautiful detached villa with private pool, FibreWi-fi, garden, games room & BBQ

Casa Lumi is a delightful villa furnished to a high standard to offer our clients the best comfort and elegance. It is a haven of tranquility and relaxation surrounded by a large garden with orange, lemon, olive and walnut trees with amazing views of the mountains and countryside. It is not unusual to see locals still working the rich fertile land with an ox-drawn cart in this rural and unspoilt region of North Portugal. The local church (opposite the villa) has traditional festivals throughout the year, most local village activity revolves around the church. A natural water fountain with fresh mountain water is just a short stroll away, wonderful scents of pine and eucalyptus fill the air along the way. Free fast new Fibre Wi-fi / internet in the villa with a Smart TV.

Fantastic property and host

We stayed here as a family including our 2 year old Grand daughter as we were attending a wedding.The villa is stunning and caters for your every need. We genuinely had a fantastic time staying here.Diane was on hand for any questions that we had remaining very responsive throughout our stay.Would we come back? Absolutely!If you are considering a stay here then go for it. You will not regret it.

Casa Lumi

We had a lovely time at casa lumi, such a stunning and unspoiled area of Portugal. Our family enjoyed hikes to amazing waterfalls, swims in the river homem, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and visits to Braga and Guimares. The house itself is perfect for 8 people, spacious and well equipped with a beautiful garden area/pool with gorgeous views. Diane was very helpful and responsive to any queries. The local pizza restaurant and O Vaticano were great. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to escape the crowds and holiday in beautiful nature!

A week of paradise

We arrived quite late & were pleased to have the welcome pack there. The villa is very spacious & the pool area lovely. Local restaurants were very good especially with the local beer at 1 Euro, food is amazing. We had a fantastic holiday and hope to return again.

Lovely casa in an equally lovely unspoilt partof northern Portugal

Very well equipped, plenty of space inside and out. The views are stunning of the mountain ranges. Walking distance to 3 places to eat, though bbq area at Casa is fab for chilling in the evenings.

Lovely remote setting in the hills. Peaceful and relaxing holiday had by all. Didn't need a watch as the charming church bells allowed me to keep times. Locals very pleasant and friendly with bread van and fresh fish brought to the local square each morning. The local eateries are reasonably priced with large portions of good local wholesome food. We loved the BBQ area and pool with fresh oranges and lemons growing in the garden and lovely views of green hills. The national park is beautiful and will return definitely.

Beautifully relaxing

This was our first visit to Portugal and whilst it was November we were very lucky with the weather, the villa is large airy and also cosy too in the evening with the log fire burning away. The little village of souto was so friendly with a festival taking place over the weekend we stayed and we were invited to take part in drinking all the local wines they had made together with BBQ and roasted chestnut and dancing it was such a wonderful evening despite them speaking little English and us speaking no Portuguese. We could not believe how cheap it was to eat & drink out there, the wine in the nearby supermarket started from 1 Euro a bottle! We ate out at the pizzeria which is a short walk away but the owner gave us a free lift back up the steep hill, everyone if just so friendly. We also ate twice in the Ovaticano restaurant who's meze meal is huge and so welcoming for my husbands birthday which resulted in them all singing and presenting him with a cake. We also went to Geres for a spa day, which was very relaxing. I would also recommend Quinta Cova de Raposa for the wine tasting tour in Braga which was such a lovely day. Thank you Diane for everything we love your villa and will definitely be back, highly recommended.

"EXCELENT"

Beautiful Villa, garden end swimming pool. a place to come back to, in beautiful North Portugal. Non touristic, you can have long walks in the mountains, taste wine at the neighbors, enjoy the lovely flowers and have a good bbq in the garden. We stayed for two weeks last summer and will be back this summer.

Great stay in North Portugal

We had a lovely two weeks staying in this very light and spacious villa with great mountain views. The children made good use of the pool table in the games room and the swimming pool and we enjoyed many barbecues on the kitchen veranda next to the orange and lemon trees.There are some very good local restaurants within walking distance (especially O Vaticano opposite the villa) all of which are reasonably priced, the local shop stocks basic items and bread from the daily van is a must ! We found plenty to do in the area and particularly enjoyed swimming in the local rivers and lake at Rio Caldo. This is a great place to stay if you want to experience the non-touristy Portugal where very little English is spoken and 1 euro will buy a bottle of beer or a glass of vinho verde !

Casa Lumi was built in 2002 and designed by ourselves, we installed the pool a few years later and keep adding new additions every year. We are a family of four. Our dream was to build a house and enjoy this region of the North of Portugal that is still totally unspoilt by tourism. There is so much to see and do, either by visiting the cities or exploring the National Park with plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied. We hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we do.

We also donate at least one week a year for charity and this year we have helped Prostate cancer at a charity auction.

Why they chose this property

This region of North Portugal is still untouched by tourist prices, example of some prices: Less than one euro : white coffee, tea, soft drinks, bottle of beer or draught beer. Average bottle of wine in a restaurant around 10€, a set menu for lunch with wine and coffee 8€ per person. The euro definitely goes further in the North than in the Algarve. We have a guest book with recommendations of restaurants and places to visit. We can assist with booking restaurants for you or order that special cake for example for a celebratory occasion.
Wonderful nature walks closeby in the fresh air and great food in the local restaurants

What makes this property unique

Summer terrace to enjoy the wonderful outside with views of the mountains and sunset and shaded BBQ area complete with sink. We aim to make the villa as comfortable as possible and hope that we have provided everything you need to feel at home and relax. Help yourselves to the oranges and lemons from the trees for fresh orange juice in the morning or for the perfect gin and tonic. Depending on the season, please help yourselves to fruit from the fruit trees and passion fruits in the summer
