If you want to connect with nature with the comforts of home this lakefront home near Lakeside is the perfect place! This stunning A-frame home is surrounded by trees and the lake, and features a private dock, an enormous deck.
Lakeside is a small town located between Reedsport and North Bend, nestled among the trees a few miles east of the ocean. This particular home is right on North Tenmile Lake, in a secluded and peaceful area away from the highway, close to the nearby cities for services and supplies. From this home you can enjoy boating, fishing, watching for wildlife, and basking in the beauty of nature.
This cabin was hand built by the owner and family and was designed to be a relaxing family get- away for boating and recreation. Start a fire in the pellet stove, have a seat on the comfortable sofas, and gaze out the windows at the gorgeous surroundings.
When it gets too dark to see outside, you can flip on the satellite TV, bring along a Blu-ray, DVD, or VHS movie to watch, access the WiFi, play a provided board game, or have a friendly tournament on the ping-pong, pool or foosball tables in the downstairs game room!
Use the well-appointed, beautiful kitchen (stocked with all sorts of fun gadgets like an Keurig coffeemaker, slow cooker, blender, mixer, and even a waffle iron) to cook up a nice dinner for everyone, and sit down together to enjoy a family-style meal filled with conversation and laughter. Serve at the dining room table which seats 8 or on the deck with seating for 10.
When it's bedtime, you will have two bedrooms each with a queen bed; or the loft which has a queen and a full bed; or the game room which has a full futon, queen sofa-bed or trundle twin beds. Altogether, 12 guests will have cozy and warm places to rest up for another day of vacationing. Don’t worry; there are three full bathrooms for everyone’s comfort.
Outside, you will find 3,000 square feet of deck space where you can sit, relax, and take in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. Even better, you will have access to a gas grill, firepit, private dock with space to moor two or three boats, and two kayaks, a paddleboat and a 12' rowboat for you to use during your visit! The trail down to the dock is a bit steep and has lots of steps (that beautiful view is about 90 vertical feet off the water) so pack an cooler and head to the dock to spend few hours enjoying the water.

Great weekend! The lake is amazing, and the property is very quiet and peaceful. This is a very cool cabin and the story of how it was built is amazing. Just be careful and don’t lean on the deck railing as it is wobbly and high up. We will be back for sure!

Thank you for the review. We will be inspecting the railings soon and taking care of this. Safety concerns are always a priority. The decks were constructed to code and passed safety inspection by the county last December.
This is a great place in all aspects! If you're looking for some peace and quiet, this is the place. The cabin is very well built, comfortable and cozy. I just wish we would have spent more time there.
We had a wonderful time and LOVED the privacy. Beautiful cabin with everything we hoped for. Short drive to many great coastal areas we wanted to visit.
Love the cabin and the location! It’s rustic and cozy and the perfect place to gather with friends for both fun and relaxation. The view of the lake is gorgeous and it’s not so far inland that if you want to pop to the coast it’s a reasonable drive. Definitely planning on coming back!
Great place to stay. Well stocked, comfortable and clean. Also nice heater. As 84 years old we didn’t dare go down the very steep bank to the dock. The trail was too precarious.

Thank you for your review, it helps highlight that the trail is steep. The trail is equivalent to 10 flights of stairs down to the dock.
Three generations ( 7yr-84yr) a great time had by all. Everything we'd hoped for and more. From the paddleboards and peddle craft to crabbing at Charleston and Winchester Bay.
We loved our stay at the McDragonFly Cabin! The view was amazing! I could have sat inside and stared at the view the whole weekend! luckily it was pretty sunny so we checked out the private dock and and kayaks and paddled round the lake. Amazing fun. The house itself was very cozy and well appointed in the kitchen. We love, love, loved our stay here!!!
Great place a little longer walk to dock than anticipated had a great time

Yes, it is about 100 vertical feet from the dock to the cabin, about 10 flights of stairs if we had them, but since it is a trail, it switches back and forth and is probably a 3-400 foot hike.
This stunning home is in an even more stunning location! When we first arrived there was a bunch of exploration and excited exclamations! From the cute stuffed bobcat to the different locations in the house to look out on the lake. My entire group felt recharged and revitalized after our atay and were very sad to leave this little slice if paradise. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

I chuckled when I read about Bob(cat), he guards the house so well. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Your review explains the feeling I have every time I visit.
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cabin by the lake! The place was clean and very well stocked. We all had a blast playing pool and Foosball, then relaxing in the hot tub. This was the perfect home base for our Oregon adventure trip!
We had our 4th stay at McDragonfly and, really, we're just considering it our annual family retreat now! Great hosts, all the amenities, beautiful property, secluded and tons of fishing and boating activities!
Cute spot for our family getaway. Lots of games, good amount of space, and plenty of bathrooms! Indoors was clean and well organized, though the outside and swimming dock could use a little TLC, we found this home to be beautiful and relaxing… and what great views! Would stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Gary MCNichols
Gary and I (Mary)are parents of four son's who all enjoy playing at the lake. They helped us build this house from clearing the property to moving in the furniture. They currently are in school or have jobs out of state so we are beginning the (empty nest) next part of life. We love traveling to see the kids in different parts of the country. We still love our cabin and use it lots, but hate to see it sit empty when we are gone.
Why they chose this property
We always wanted a place where our dock would be waiting for us when we wanted to go boating or skiing. Fighting for a camping spot was such a drag. Having a place waiting for us is absolute heaven. We love camping, so we made this area so it feels like a big camp area, with the trail to the lake. You can fish off the dock or paddle boat across the lake and float back in the afternoon when the breeze is from the west. After the sun goes down build a campfire and enjoy some toasted marshmallows. Finish the day when you slide into a comfortable bed with cozy linens. The next morning is magical as the fog lifts and reveals the lake in a different light each day. Plan a beach hike, a sand dune excursion, whale watching, deep sea fishing, a trip to the casino, or a on the dock sun bathing afternoon... the options are many, our days seem few...get out there and enjoy life.
What makes this property unique
This property is only 1.5 miles to Lakeside, so it is easy enough to go pickup supplies from the local McKay's Market or head south 13 miles into Coos Bay for a full super markets. Many of the homes on the lake are accessible by boat only, ours is road accessible. These are coastal private roads however so be careful driving on these narrow roads.
Any time of year you can entertain yourself just looking at the water below. I love to set up a puzzle by the front window and watch the birds and water fowl below. We have osprey that fish from the lake they are hilarious to watch when they are learning. We have occasionally seen otters, deer and elk swimming across the lake. Moor your boat less than 100 feet from where you sleep. Just put in at the Coos County Tenmile Lakes Park or the North Lake RV Resort and Marina, call ahead for parking rates for your trailer. There is boat fuel available at North Lake RV Resort on north lake and Ringo's on south lake.
