About the host
Hosted by Jonathan Cockburn
We have lived in the Wye Valley for over 35 years. 12 years ago we converted our old barn into a fabulous holiday home. We only live four fields away, so if you need us, we can come and help out at a moment's notice; but we will not be breathing down your neck either! We have three children, but they have all left home now. We still have a small flock of friendly sheep, which you may see from time to time in one of the fields next to the barn.
Why they chose this property
Hopewell Barn is located in an officially designated area of outstanding natural beauty. One of the reasons why we decided to convert our old barn was because it has such brilliant views across the valley. The Wye valley is fabulous for walking, cycling, canoeing and riding and there is alot to explore and see in this area. The local walks are all superb and there is a very popular community run Village Shop only half a mile down our lane. This is the place to visit if you are looking for a rural retreat on the edge of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Also, although it is in a peaceful area, this part of the Wye valley has good links to the motorway network so it's relatively easy to get to.
What makes this property unique
Hopewell Barn is a place to come to recharge your batteries; so by the time you leave you will feel completely relaxed and ready to take on the world again. The barn has lots of windows and skylights so is always bright and cheerful no matter what the weather and if you don't feel like going for a walk you can always stay in and snuggle up by the wood burning stove and enjoy the views with a warm drink in your hand!
