La Cancela Verde is a unique, spacious and private property in a commanding location with panoramic views southwest to the sea and island of Fuerteventura.

La Cancela Verde was built by the present owners to designs by a highly-regarded local designer and collaboration from the late Cesar Manrique, the famous Lanzarote artist whose work and influence can be seen throughout the island.
Extensive refurbishment inside and outside has been carried out over the past few years, with upgrades and luxury additions and the villa offers a high quality of accommodation in a private and individual setting.
A private drive leads to the villa, ensuring privacy and quiet surroundings, which is set in 1/2 acre of mature gardens with a main heated swimming pool 13m x 7m, separate heated children's pool 2m diameter (heated throughout the year) set within a massive open and covered terrace. There is a spacious outside barbecue area with seating and dining for eight and, alongside, a traditional, atmospheric "bodega" with wine barrels and seating.
Accommodation comprises: an attractive porch, a spacious entrance hall with interior glazed garden, a traditional "pila" or water cooler and a house toilet.
The large, fully equipped kitchen has a separate breakfast room and private, shaded terrace. There is a utility room adjoining, with washing machine, Belfast sink and a drying patio.
The snug, offering a cool space for quiet relaxation, has two sofas, a lounge chair and a TV. It is an ideal space for reading or playing board games, which are supplied.
The second bedroom, leading off the snug, comprises two single beds, plentiful cupboard storage, a modern, en suite bathroom with walk in shower, toilet, bidet and basin. There is a private, west-facing terrace within a walled garden.
The main double bedroom has a king sized bed, plentiful cupboard space, a dressing table and chair and opens onto the main terrace. with a private seating and sunbathing area. It has a large en suite bathroom with bath, bidet, toilet and twin basins and a private, walled patio garden with outside shower, leading to the main terrace.
The large, third, (triple) bedroom has a queen size bed and a single bed, and a private, walled, east-facing terrace. There is an en suite shower room with walk in shower, toilet and twin basins. There is plentiful cupboard storage, a dressing table and room for a cot.
The large, bright impressive dining room, entered via massive "portcullis" doors has a table seating 10 and an indoor screened, double-bay barbecue area, Furnished with hand made furniture in the Moorish style and decorated with original prints of early Lanzarote scenes and replica "Guanche" pottery.
The spacious, panoramic lounge looks out over the main terrace to the sea and inwards towards the inner glazed garden. It has a bar, a large TV and an armchair, and one twin and one triple sofa. Custom-made marble-topped tables, reading lamps and a small book and DVD library give a homely feel.
The interior décor is in the traditional Spanish and Moorish style, with custom made furniture of high quality and Spanish antiques. The walls are decorated throughout with paintings by local, Lanzarote artists, prints and watercolours.
La Cancela Verde is built of stone and double-thick block walls in the traditional Lanzarote/Moorish style, the floors are terra-cotta flagstone and Italian and Spanish tiles. There are six large and small covered terraces, providing cool shaded areas outside and a cool interior. The villa is built mainly on one level and has wide doorways.
La Cancela Verde is easily reached by the main trunk road from the airport - a journey of 20 minutes by car and occupies a panoramic site above the village of Puerto del Carmen, which is five minutes by car and is also close to the attractive yacht marina at Puerto Calero. There are good supermarkets within a short drive (Lidl and Eurospar), a highly rated restaurant (El Toro) within a five minutes walk and plentiful restaurants in Puerto del Carmen.
The internet TV receives Netflix and Amazon Prime. The snug TV receives Spanish & German channels.
There are two house safes for valuables.
For infants of 3 years and under, a cot is provided free of charge.

La Cancela Verde was our private residence before we moved to mainland Spain. We have been instrumental in creating quality villa holidays on the island since 1972 and our property management company looked after 1000 beds in various developments of apartments and villas on the island, and offered a high standard of service for many years. Our own tour operating company, (now part of First Choice), helped to develop and set the standard for quality villa holidays in the 1970s qnd 1980s.
Our construction company built the villa in 1979 and we have looked after it with care over the years and continually upgrade and improve the facilities, the latest upgrades being in 2025.
We take great pleasure in offering the villa to our guests and are delighted that so many return as regular clients, many returning year after year. Their comments and suggestions are always helpful and we often apply their recommendations.
With our strong connection to the island over the last fifty years, our extended family often visit as well to relax and enjoy the peace and unsurpassed views that the villa offers.

Why they chose this property
The villa was built in 1979 by the present owners to a very high specification. The design was by a renowned designer who worked with the acclaimed Lanzarote artist, Cesar Manrique, on a number of projects on the island. The house reflects many features of Cesar's designs which can be seen in his public works throughout the island.
The villa occupies a unique, panoramic location above Puerto del Carmen's old village with unsurpassed views out over the sea and islands. The location offers privacy and quiet seclusion. The main lounge, terraces and the three bedroom suites, each with private terraces, offer a quiet corner with a different view at any time of the day.
Although the villa is not specifically fitted for the disabled client, it was built for ease of access, all on one level and with wider doorways. It has proven to be user friendly for persons of restricted mobility.
The villa occupies a unique, panoramic location above Puerto del Carmen's old village with unsurpassed views out over the sea and islands. The location offers privacy and quiet seclusion. The main lounge, terraces and the three bedroom suites, each with private terraces, offer a quiet corner with a different view at any time of the day.

The villa has enormous character and comfort and is warm in the winter and cool in the summer due to its solid construction.
