La Cancela Verde is a unique, spacious and private property in a commanding location with panoramic views southwest to the sea and island of Fuerteventura.

La Cancela Verde was built by the present owners to designs by a highly-regarded local designer and collaboration from the late Cesar Manrique, the famous Lanzarote artist whose work and influence can be seen throughout the island.
Extensive refurbishment inside and outside has been carried out over the past few years, with upgrades and luxury additions and the villa offers a high quality of accommodation in a private and individual setting.

A private drive leads to the villa, ensuring privacy and quiet surroundings, which is set in 1/2 acre of mature gardens with a main heated swimming pool 13m x 7m, separate heated children's pool 2m diameter (heated throughout the year) set within a massive open and covered terrace. There is a spacious outside barbecue area with seating and dining for eight and, alongside, a traditional, atmospheric "bodega" with wine barrels and seating.

Accommodation comprises: an attractive porch, a spacious entrance hall with interior glazed garden, a traditional "pila" or water cooler and a house toilet.
The large, fully equipped kitchen has a separate breakfast room and private, shaded terrace. There is a utility room adjoining, with washing machine, Belfast sink and a drying patio.
The snug, offering a cool space for quiet relaxation, has two sofas, a lounge chair and a TV. It is an ideal space for reading or playing board games, which are supplied.

The second bedroom, leading off the snug, comprises two single beds, plentiful cupboard storage, a modern, en suite bathroom with walk in shower, toilet, bidet and basin. There is a private, west-facing terrace within a walled garden.

The main double bedroom has a king sized bed, plentiful cupboard space, a dressing table and chair and opens onto the main terrace. with a private seating and sunbathing area. It has a large en suite bathroom with bath, bidet, toilet and twin basins and a private, walled patio garden with outside shower, leading to the main terrace.

The large, third, (triple) bedroom has a queen size bed and a single bed, and a private, walled, east-facing terrace. There is an en suite shower room with walk in shower, toilet and twin basins. There is plentiful cupboard storage, a dressing table and room for a cot.

The large, bright impressive dining room, entered via massive "portcullis" doors has a table seating 10 and an indoor screened, double-bay barbecue area, Furnished with hand made furniture in the Moorish style and decorated with original prints of early Lanzarote scenes and replica "Guanche" pottery.

The spacious, panoramic lounge looks out over the main terrace to the sea and inwards towards the inner glazed garden. It has a bar, a large TV and an armchair, and one twin and one triple sofa. Custom-made marble-topped tables, reading lamps and a small book and DVD library give a homely feel.

The interior décor is in the traditional Spanish and Moorish style, with custom made furniture of high quality and Spanish antiques. The walls are decorated throughout with paintings by local, Lanzarote artists, prints and watercolours.

La Cancela Verde is built of stone and double-thick block walls in the traditional Lanzarote/Moorish style, the floors are terra-cotta flagstone and Italian and Spanish tiles. There are six large and small covered terraces, providing cool shaded areas outside and a cool interior. The villa is built mainly on one level and has wide doorways.

La Cancela Verde is easily reached by the main trunk road from the airport - a journey of 20 minutes by car and occupies a panoramic site above the village of Puerto del Carmen, which is five minutes by car and is also close to the attractive yacht marina at Puerto Calero. There are good supermarkets within a short drive (Lidl and Eurospar), a highly rated restaurant (El Toro) within a five minutes walk and plentiful restaurants in Puerto del Carmen.

The internet TV receives Netflix and Amazon Prime. The snug TV receives Spanish & German channels.

There are two house safes for valuables.

Stunning gardens, views and villa

The villa and its beautiful gardens and wonderful views just kept on impressing us all week. Its an easy 1km walk to a lovely coastal pathway and well away from the madding crowds yet near enough to pop out for necessities.

VULCANIC PARADISE

This is a wonderful villa to spend a family holiday. Spacious and comfortable , a fantastic view and pool and lovely garden with several terraces for every angle of the sun. And great BBQ's inside and outside ! We spend two unforgettable weeks in this beautiful villa. We had fantastic weather. Suzanna was very helpful and a wonderful joyful person.

Superb spacious villa and pool incredible sea and mountain views

The villa is huge, beautifully designed and laid out with lovely additional features such as a luxurious outside shower, picture window atrium and a stunning gardens. We were a party of five, two adults, three teenagers. Enough bathrooms, indoor and outdoor space for everyone. Highly recommend.

Lovely private spot

The property is extremely roomy and the gardens extensive and well kept. There were plenty of private areas to tuck away quietly and read a book and two bedrooms had its own outdoor space, while the third had an outdoor shower which was a very enjoyable luxury. Very near to all amenities, the only negative I have about the property was the pool temperature which we found too cold to dip in and out as it was rather breathtaking to get in. Overall, a great property and would return.

Stunning Property

This is a stunning property with great space for a group travelling together. It is as described on the website but the photos probably dont show the true size of the outdoor space and pool.The pool is the biggest of any villa we have stayed in. The villa has everything you need for a great holiday. As others have said it is up a hill but it is a short walk into town and a cheap taxi ride back. The property manager is very helpful and responds when any issue is raised. The villa is close to Puerto Calero and we were able to be picked up for a trip at a nearby hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend the property.

Wow, what a find!!

This villa is amazing. So much space for everyone, no one is under anyone else's feet. The gardens were beautiful, and the 2 bbq's brilliant, especially the indoor one (the gents in the group are now jealous!) Came in handy with the calima evenings. So quiet, well stocked with all the bits and pieces you need. Susana the manager was excellent as we had a slight issue but she dealt with it promptly and it didnt impact our wonderful stay. It is at the top of a long hilly walk towards thre old town, so not always walkable maybe so car hire or taxi may be necessary, but the views from the pool area are worth it. Would book again if travelling in a group. Everyone loved it.

Paradise !

The villa was absolutely wonderful.So spacious,clean and well maintained. Suzana was there on our arrival to help us settle in and show us where everything was,she was so sweet and kind ,a pleasure to be in her company. The views from the villa where spectacular especially at sunset,as was the new outside shower.You could look at the sea when you were having your morning shower,amazing!! There was a restaurant less than 5 minutes from the villa that did the most wonderful steaks,try the t bone,you won't be disappointed! To sum up this villa was one of the best we have stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few. Lanzarote is a fasinating island to explore with plenty of activities for all ages,even a trip on a submarine.Excellent location of the villa made it very easy to see everything we wanted to. Perfect.

Propiedad maravillosa en una localizacion premium.

La propiedad es muy acogedora, amplia, con el encanto de las cosas bien hechas. Mucha luz, a través de sus amplios ventanales y claraboyas. Ventanas de madera, suelos de barro, materiales nobles. Hemos pasado una semana estupenda, a pesar de un percance ciclista…. He podido disfrutar de la piscina, del fantástico jardin y de la tranquilidad que se respira. Mi enhorabuena a los propietarios por su buen gusto. La comunicación con Susana (la persona de contacto) ha sido fácil y con rápida respuesta. Muchas gracias!!

What a fabulous place!

We rented this place as a couple and two single elderly adults- it was perfect as we all had our own indoor and outdoor space, as well as loads of space to be together. The Villa and the huge pool/ garden area were immaculate. Our weather was mixed and a bit chilly in the evenings, so the indoor bbq was a real treat. There were also lots of blankets to keep us cosy and warm! For our elderly adults, the walk into town was a bit too far/steep, but a taxi to the harbour was only a few euros and we chose to spend lots of time in the Villa anyway because it was so lovely! Communication with the host and manager was excellent. We highly recommend La Cancela Verde and hope to return!

Un séjour parfait! Une magnifique villa!

La villa, qui date des années 70, est idéalement située, proche des restos, mais loin du bruit de la ville. On ne se lasse pas de la vue mer depuis sa vaste et belle terrasse. Elle est bien équipée, rien ne manque (lave-linge,...). La villa est très spacieuse. Les 3 chambres sont confortables et dispersées dans la maison, on n'est pas gêné par son voisin de chambre. Nous avons eu un petit problème de boiler (chauffe-eau). Le propriétaire et Susana ont réagi très rapidement et la panne a été réparée. Comme souvent aux Canaries, la villa n'a pas de chauffage, veillez donc à vous habiller chaudement pour les soirées et les nuits fraîches d'hiver. Notre chambre, la plus fraîche car exposée au nord-ouest, disposait d'une petite chaufferette électrique. Nous avons tout particulièrement apprécié la superbe piscine chauffée dont nous avons bien profité, entourée d'un joli jardin bien entretenu! Bref, une villa de rêve pour un séjour réussi! Merci Julia, Christopher et, bien entendu, Susana!

A special and spacious villa with large private pool

A special and spacious villa with a large private pool, lovely views away from the densely populated villas of the main town but within easy walking distance to the harbour and all it's restaurants. The beds are very comfortable and the all amenities are good, including a great indoor BBQ.

Fantastic Villa - Sadly some disappointing aspects

Four of us have just spent two weeks at La Cancela Verde. It really is a wonderful villa with magnificent sea and mountain views of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable affording privacy and communal comfort. The extensive gardens are immaculate and they also afford total privacy. We were met by the manager, Susana, on behalf of the owners. Susana is a local lady with a good command of English. She is a very pleasant, helpful and concientious lady. Unfortunately problems arose with our stay from day one. The washing machine, whilst cleaning clothes adequately did not complete its cycle, stopping showing a fault after the rinse programme, leaving water in the drum. Despite a visit from an engineer, this problem was not resolved. There are two televisions at the property, one in the tv lounge and one in the main lounge. The one in the main lounge plays dvds only. The dvd player linked to this tv did not work, but was replaced promptly. The tv in the tv lounge is linked to a sky box. This also did not work and despite visits from engineers was not repaired. In fact the box was removed from the villa and not replaced. Susana mentioned an insurance problem. The large pool was heated at the time of our stay. Sadly the temperature of the water left a lot to be desired and certainly did not feel as though it was heated to 26 degrees as stated by Susana. She told us to heat the water to a higher degree would encourage bacteria and require more chemicals. The pool is a large kidney shape and has a cover in 3 sections. It has to be removed in the 3 separate sections and is very cumbersome. When left poolside it creates a trip hazard.The pool man will remove and replace the cover as required for a gratuity. Whilst these may seem to be insignificant problems, they did detract from what was otherwise a perfect holiday.

What a great place!!

WHAT A GREAT PLACE !!! It has been our third stay at La Cancela Verde Villa. Despite of already many comforts at the villa, every year it gets even more modernized / e.g. this year the owner added a great shower outside, adjacent to the main bedroom /. The villa is very clean, spacious, colourful and in a quiet neighbourhood. Everyone and in every age can find the right place and something suitable to do during those holidays. From the very first email or phone contact with the owner Julia and Christopher, it was always impeccable, professional, quick, kind, but also right to the point. Susana, the manager, is the local person, taking very good care of the villa. She is very helpful, extremely pleasant and easy to communicate with. She always answers the phone and gives good advice or idea on every topic associated with the villa or the island. In case if she is needed at the villa, shows up right away. Thanks to Susana, the tourist at La Cancela Verde feels very secure and comfortable. I sincerely recommend this unusually welcoming and spacious possession, with beautiful views at the sea, mountains, gardens. Also a heated swimming pool and a lot of privacy. We have already reserved the time for our fourth stay at the villa, which speaks for itself : we are amazingly happy there !

Fabulous for families..

Just returned from Lanzarote with my family (6 of us) & can't praise this villa enough.. If you want a immaculately clean, very spacious & comfortable villa with a traditional feel, great location, amazing views, huge private pool then this is perfect.. & to top it all you get Susana the manager who is just wonderful, helpful, caring & all round lovely person.. The owner Julia was also great & lovely to speak to and made booking really easy.. I am very fussy about a lot of things but I can't fault La Cancella Verde.. I would recommend this to anyone.. Thank you to Julia for allowing us to rent this beautiful home & to Susana for everything..xx

Amazing property

What a spectacular villa,we cannot recommend it enough.The pictures do not do it justice. The view of the mountains,ocean and Fuertoventura are breathtaking,from the minute you wake and look out of the bedroom window,to the glorious sunsets and we were lucky enough to witness the Sturgeon Moon from the little patio area just off the master bedroom,a perfect place for a nightcap at the end of the day.There are too many places and views within the villa to pick a favourite,you will just have to visit and choose your own. A very special thank you to Susana and Julia for making us feel so welcome,they could not have done more to ensure we had a fantastic holiday. Taxis pass between Carmen and Calero regularly for those who dont fancy the walk ,with shops within walking distance.We recommend the little butcher shop (Lanzarotemeat) beside the Spar (5 mins walk away). The outdoor shower while gazing at the sun and stars was a particular highlight. We have been to the Canary islands before but this was our first visit to Lanzarote and will surely not be our last.Carmen offers nightlife for all tastes,though we found it hard to stay away from the villa for too long. We look forward to returning before too long.

Wundervollen Villa im spanischen Hazienda Stil

Wir waren zu zwei für 14 Tage in der wundervollen Villa im spanischen Hazienda Stil und haben uns sehr gut erholt und wohlgefühlt. Alles ist mit sehr viel Liebe im Detail eingerichtet. Großzügige Schlafzimmer und Wohnräume alles mit Bodenfliesen. Große Kleiderschränke mit Kleiderbügeln und Schubladen. Eine große Küche mit allem was man braucht: Gasherd, Backofen, Mikrowelle, großer Kühl-Gefrierschrank, Toaster, Kaffeemaschine, Spülmaschine usw. Im Nebenraum befindet sich eine Waschmaschine und Trockenmöglichkeit für die Wäsche auf Seilen. Es gibt einen sehr großen Außengrillplatz und noch einen Innengrill-Raum den man vom wundervollen Esszimmeraus betritt. Im Haus gibt es TV, Skybox und WLan kostenlos. DVD und Bücher gibt es im Wohnzimmer. Es gibt eine separate Gästetoilette, ein Bad mit Badewanne, ein Bad mit Dusche, eine Außendusche. Es befindet sich ein Safe für Wertsachen im Haus. Die Fenster haben Schnakengitter und unterschiedliche Öffnungsmöglichkeiten. Ein Mietwagen ist sinnvoll um die Umgebung zu erkunden, man kann ihn auf dem Grundstück überdacht abstellen, somit wird er auch nicht zu heiß im Sommer. Man fährt direkt vom Kreisverkehr auf einem Kieseinfahrt durch das grüne Grundstückstor. Die Hausmanagerin Susana ist ein wahrer Juwel und sehr liebenswert. Zur Begrüßung hat uns Susana Tee, Toast usw. hingestellt dass wir für das erste was haben, da wir sonntags angekommen sind. Susana hat uns alles gezeigt und ist eine jederzeit über Handy erreichbare Ansprechpartnerin bei Fragen und Sorgen und kommt schnell zur Villa wenn man es wünscht. Susana spricht Englisch und Spanisch und ist gerade dabei einige Worte Deutsch zu lernen. Das Haus ist super sauber. Es wird wöchentlich gereinigt, die Bettwäsche und ausreichende Handtücher ebenso wöchentlich gewechselt. Ein Gärtner kümmert sich um die wundervolle Terrasse und Pflanzen. Es gibt mehrere überdachte Terrassen zum Schutz vor der Sonne. Ebenso gibt es auch viele windgeschützte Sitzmöglichkeiten. Man hat einen herrlichen Meerblick von der Terrasse aus fast 180°. Es gibt 6 Sonnenliegen im Garten und mehrere Tische und Stühle zum Sitzen. Der Pool wird ebenso regelmäßig gereinigt. Der Pool ist nicht beheizt sondern mit einer Abdeckplane professionell abgedeckt, so dass die Sonne die Wassertemperatur anwärmt. Fantastic home in an ideal location

We stayed in this villa over Easter 2016. Excellent facilities, plenty of room, clean and well maintained. The villa is very large and there were plenty of different areas to sit during the day to get the most of the sun. Loved the new outdoor shower area, it was a great addition to the villa. The location was ideal, not too close to the town centre but within walking distance and because of this the views from the villa were amazing. We really enjoyed out stay at this villa and as a result we are returning next Easter.

A most relaxing & enjoyable break.

Thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Cancela Verde, delightful property. Plenty of room for everybody, each room with its own private terrace. Our guests loved the villa, it's views and facilities and are looking forward to returning. They appreciated why we are frequent visitors to the villa and were impressed with Lanzarote, being their first visit. Broadband was a bonus enabling us to keep in touch with our worldwide family and share the lovely facilities and views. Enjoyed showering under the sun and stars!!! The villa was spotless, everything we needed was provided. Susana was gem very helpful and made sure the villa matched our expectations. The daily dip in the pool was very refreshing after a day in the hot sun. A quiet oasis close to the main attractions and the wider places of interest in Lanzarote. We cannot wait to return. Beautiful, big house with charming pool and garden

Our stay in Lanzarote was very nice and pleasant. The house is located well, not too far from the sea, a supermarket nearby. The property is partioned broad, the rooms are furnished lovingly. There are many places, where you can enjoy the beautiful garden, pool and the breathtaking view. Althogehter we enjoyed our trip to Lanzarote and the house makes you miss nothing. We´ll come back!

Special (re)treat

A fabulous villa with endless rooms and lovely gardens. Just two of us but would be perfect for more than one couple, group of friends or extended family as 3 separate bedroom areas with terraces. The pool was lovely. The villa is well looked after and has everything you'd need and more. We have visited Pt Del Carmen a few times and love what it offers. This villa is a 10 min walk to the beautiful harbour with its restaurants and slightly longer to the long promenade of restaurants and shops on the sea front. The villa is situated at the top of the resort so bear in mind if walking, it's up hill on the way back! Definitely worth it.

Beautiful and very well accommodated villa

La Cancela Verde is a really lovely, big villa, with a stunning garden and views of the sea. We had a car rental booked for our stay in Lanzerote but both realized as we were on the airplane that we had forgotten our drivers licences. We were quite worried about how our week was going to play out, but on our arrival at the villa, Susana met us and kindly explained how close the villa is to the town of Porto del Carmen, and suggested a few agencies in the town who sell tickets for bus excursions. The villa is indeed well within walking distance of supermarkets ( we liked supermarket Dino!) ,a pharmacy, agencies for bus tours, bars and restaurants. It is about a 6-7 minute walk to the shops, although it might not be a suitable trip if you have a wheelchair, pram or stroller, as there are about 100 yards right at the beginning of the walk without a pavement. We found the walk absolutely fine -we got quite fond of our little jaunts into town!- but perhaps not ideal for you if you have very small children or for much older people. We really liked the older section of Porto del Carmen but there is also a great shopping area in the new section of town with terrific shops like Zara, Oysho, and Levi's. We did a bus tour of the Northern part of Lanzerote which we enjoyed immensely. Well worth doing, it gave us a really good feeling for the geography of the island and we saw some amazing sights. I particularly recommend seeing Jameos del Aqua when you visit Lanzerote. But again, a beautiful and comfortable villa and gorgeous garden and views!

La Cancela Verde was our private residence before we moved to mainland Spain. We have been instrumental in creating quality villa holidays on the island since 1972 and our property management company looked after 1000 beds in various developments of apartments and villas on the island, and offered a high standard of service for many years. Our own tour operating company, (now part of First Choice), helped to develop and set the standard for quality villa holidays in the 1970s qnd 1980s.
Our construction company built the villa in 1979 and we have looked after it with care over the years and continually upgrade and improve the facilities, the latest upgrades being in 2025.

Why they chose this property

The villa was built in 1979 by the present owners to a very high specification. The design was by a renowned designer who worked with the acclaimed Lanzarote artist, Cesar Manrique, on a number of projects on the island. The house reflects many features of Cesar's designs which can be seen in his public works throughout the island.
The villa occupies a unique, panoramic location above Puerto del Carmen's old village with unsurpassed views out over the sea and islands. The location offers privacy and quiet seclusion. The main lounge, terraces and the three bedroom suites, each with private terraces, offer a quiet corner with a different view at any time of the day.

Although the villa is not specifically fitted for the disabled client, it was built for ease of access, all on one level and with wider doorways. It has proven to be user friendly for persons of restricted mobility.

What makes this property unique

La Cancela Verde has an elegance and charm that modern properties cannot match. It also has unsurpassed views that many have said offer the best grandstand seat on the island. It is difficult to disagree.
The location offers convenience yet seclusion. One can walk from the villa to the village and yet one is in the country and there are no closely adjoining properties. Since we built all the villas in the vicinity we ensured each one's privacy.
The villa occupies 550 sq metres in gardens of half an acre and this space, and the clever design, afford privacy for all our guests - there is always a quiet spot at any time of the day as the sun moves around the terraces. The villa has enormous character and comfort and is warm in the winter and cool in the summer due to its solid construction.
