Excellent stay at Loon Lodge. We had a great time even though we couldn't find the fish. Loved the house. Fantastic setup and enjoyed the beach. We definitely will book again if we return to Leech Lake in the coming years.
We loved swimming, kayaking, canoeing and making s’mores, all at the rental. The sand was soft and water clear and cool. The lake house was very comfortable and well equipped. The master bed was super soft and comfortable. The views were amazing. We would love to come back in winter.
We loved this cute home! It was clean, roomy and well stocked. The wood stove with wood provided was the best after ice fishing and skiing! Having a garage to use was also a great bonus. Thank you!
Loon Lodge was probably the best experience we have had with VRBO's. It was immaculatly clean with easy access to everything we needed. The view was stunning with a short easy walk to the lake.
Our three children are in their early 20’s, life is moving so fast which is why we love to head up north to escape our busy schedules. Loon lodge was perfect! It is cozy yet plenty of space, laundry, multiple bathrooms, wonderful kitchen, clean beach, large garage and pet friendly. I have absolutely nothing to complain about even fun throw-back dvd’s to sift through. You really do not need to overpack everything you need is in this cabin. Walker is a quick 20 min drive that has cute shops, bakery, community center to grab a workout plus a really nice grocery store. Thank you for sharing this great space with us.
Our family enjoyed our summer vacation at Loon Lodge Vacation home. The comfortable and nicely decorated lake house was well stocked with everything we needed for an enjoyable time. The sandy beach and swimming area was enjoyed by all and having a boat lift was very useful. We hope to come back again.
Everything was as described. Great location on the lake. Good fishing, a nice beach, lots of fun, everything needed was available. Excellent response when required from the host. I would stay again.
The location was great! Right on Leech Lake, with easy access to other lakes. The house was very welcoming with an adorable fireplace and all the supplies that we needed! The garage was very spacious as well! Can’t wait to come back next year!
Very nice place amenities were plentiful. Shoreline sandy and easy for our grandson to play in water. Firewood available to use along with a boat lift. Beds were comfortable and had plenty of room for the six of us. Will definitely come back
Wonderful location wirh a great sandy beach. If you have young kids this is the place for you! Enjoyed fires on the beach every night. Clean inside and master bed very comfortable!

Thanks Rick and family for the use of your home! Everything was very clean and well-maintained. The beach is one of the best!
We had a wonderful stay! Everything was laid out clearly beforehand. Check in and check out went smoothly. The lake was amazing and the property was beautiful!!!! Would definitely go back! So many great memories were made!!
Perfect family friendly home. Due to the Covid-19 we did not venture out, but the place had everything we needed. The beach was our favorite. We spend everyday out there with our family. Swimming, fishing, collecting shells & campfires. It was a wonderful relaxing week. We would book here again.

About the host
Hosted by Rick Storlie
Hello! My name is Rick Storlie. My wife Rachel and I have 6 kids- Everlee & Gracelyn (infant twins), Ali (12), Mason & Lauren (14) and 16 year old daughter Breanna. We live in Prior Lake, MN and I'm originally from Northfield, Rachel from Slayton. I'm an alumni of St. Cloud State University and Rachel attended Mankato State University.
Why they chose this property
I looked all over northern MN and western Wisconsin before deciding on Walker MN and Leech Lake. Hayward WI and Brainerd, MN were just too commercial for me. I love the small town charm of Walker and the boating/fishing opportunities on Leech Lake. The area has tons of attractions with golf, great restaurants, shopping, hunting, biking and hiking to name just a few.
I love to hunt and the Chippewa National Forest has some great grouse and deer hunting. In the summer running/biking is awesome and I'll spend a lot of time on the Paul Bunyon bike trails. Having dinner at Chase on the Lake in downtown Walker is a treat too.
The best part is you feel like your up north but the drive is manageable from the twin cities.
What makes this property unique
Probably the best part about my home is the beach. The kids will play out there all day swimming, fishing and making sand castles. It's one of the best swimming beaches for kids we've ever seen with a pure sand bottom, gradual slope to the lake and shallow depths.
I love to eat out on the deck and watch the kids play. The deck faces east so you don't get cooked by the sun in the afternoon. The walk to the beach is nearly flat and there's a great spot for campfires (I supply the wood). You can find chairs for sitting next to the fire under the deck.
One of the overlooked aspects of my home is the privacy. The road is private and a dead end with about 12 cabins. There is an environmental lake across the street so no homes are built there. I only have a neighbor to the north and south.
I've pretty much remodeled the entire home since 2008. There isn't much that wasn't replaced. I'd describe the home as a 'raised ranch.' The basement has about 6'2" of headroom with a 3/4 bath, scrapbooking/crafting room and laundry facilities. There's plenty of room to store your gear too.
Upstairs you have a split bedroom configuration. One side of the home has 2 bedrooms separated by a full bath. The other side is the owner's suite. Living areas are in the middle. Make sure you check out our video tour in the photos section.
