About this property
Stunning farmhouse in 15 acres, private heated pool, 6 beds & 4 baths plus annex
THE HOUSE Stone built farmhouse situated between St. Emilion, Bergerac and Duras. Self catering for up to 12 people. Six bedrooms and four bathrooms in the main house. Additionally there is a separate self-contained annex with kitchenette, large shower and all facilities for extra accommodation.
The whole facility is let as one.
AIR CONDITIONING Air Conditioning was added to all bedrooms in 2022 which is a game changer for anyone letting in July and August.
The house is situated in the middle of 15 acres with fantastic, unspoilt 360 degree views of adjoining vines and countryside. There is total privacy and relaxation. It is ideally set up for two families with au pair or granny with two en suite bedrooms on the ground floor.
A new Kitchen was installed in 2022 and sits 12, all mod cons, there's a large sitting room with wood burner, TV and three external terraces (one covered) with tables and seating for a further 12 people on each.
THE POOL We have a magnificent 15m x 7m salt pool, heated to 27 degrees throughout the season, with an automatic retractable electric hard cover for added security. It has a 2m shallow 'D' end which is perfect for toddlers or for sundowners! We have 8 sun loungers and pool seating area. All the pool furniture is the top of the range Sahara by Bramblecrest, including the parasols.
WHAT TO DO AT THE HOUSE We have a floodlit boules pitch, 4 bicycles, table tennis, table football, darts board and acres of mown grass to play anything from croquet, cricket, short tennis to baseball, and we have most of the gear!
The barn has now been transformed into a bar and games rooms
For youngsters we also have a twin tower climbing frame with slide, swings, see-saw, rock wall, rope bridge and picnic table.
The view is calm and relaxing so you can sit back, sunbathe, swim, sleep, eat, drink and just chill out!
SHOPS Our local village is Loubes Bernac, 1km up the hill and it has a mini Intermache which caters for all essentials. Nadine will pre-order your breakfast croissants and bread and we also have three bakeries within 6kms including one who cooks in the old fashioned way over wood. The nearest big town is St Foy La Grande (12 kms away) and there is a huge LeClerc supermarket which stocks everything including live lobsters in a tank! More shops including the upmarket Grand Frais supermarket can be found in Bergerac about 15 kms away.
MARKETS There are traditional French markets in various nearby towns on most days but the best is Ste Foy market on a Saturday (advise to go early in summer holidays), Miramont on a Monday and Bergerac on a Wednesday and Saturday. Eymet market is on a Thursday and is very popular too. There are weekly night markets in the summer.
RESTAURANTS There are a variety of restaurants around the region and our A-Z Guide lists about 30 of them from Michelin star gastro to value for money family establishments.
Alternatively we have a gas Weber BBQ, a charcoal Weber BBQ and our 'famous' open fire pit is often the chosen venue. We can also arrange a local caterer who will shop, cook, deliver and serve on request.
WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA There is a championship golf course at Chateau des Vigiers and horse riding, fishing, tennis, canoeing - all within 5 or 6 miles. Bastide towns are all around and of course wine tasting opportunities everywhere. The historic town of St Emilion, a World Heritage Site is 25 kms away and the lovely old town of Bergerac with its large central church, covered market, selection of restaurants and river Dordogne is only 15 kms away. The beautifully restored city of Bordeaux is about an hour and a half away (it has a very good park and ride system) and the beautiful beaches of Archacon and incredible Dune de Pyla (highest sand dune in Europe) is about a 2 hour drive away (more ++ in the height of the season!) Alternatively you can just drive up La Tuilliere's 300 yard long drive, over the bridge (pull up the drawbridge - metaphorically speaking) through the avenue of trees to a real piece of paradise with total peace and relaxation.
CAR HIRE Car hire is available from Bergerac or Bordeaux airports. In addition, we also have a Renault Megane Cabriolet (2+2) which is available for £75 per week in case an extra car is needed to go to the shops or golf course. It is fully insured for any driver over 21 with a clean licence.
LA TUILLIERE HISTORY We have owned the house since 1987 when we bought a wreck that had not been lived in for many years. The last 30 years has been a labour of love devotedly renovating, improving and maintaining it!
In 2013 La Tuilliere underwent a major face lift. The pool was replaced and a salt water system installed as well an electric hard cover. The old pool room was converted into a separate self contained suite with kitchenette, Italian shower and loo and the pool equipment rehoused in a purpose built 4 bay oak framed garage. In September 2015 we totally refurbished all the main house bedrooms and bathrooms, re-plastered all the walls and ceilings and replaced the old windows with bespoke double glazed windows.
MOBILITY For anyone with limited mobility there are two double bedrooms on the ground floor with en-suite shower, toilet and bath facilities, plus there is the self contained pool room suite with its own kitchenette.
CATERING If you would like to have some food in the fridge, a simple meal ready for your arrival or a special meal catered at La Tuilliere, we can direct you to a local cook who would discuss your requirements directly.
CLEANING We allow four hours for our cleaners to clean and prepare for the next guests. If you require more help, please let us know beforehand or discuss directly with the Jayne (our fabulous House Manager) who manages everything and is fluent in both French and English.
POOL MAINTENANCE The pool is fully maintained and cleaned on a weekly basis. With its electric cover closed at night, you only need to skim the surface with a net from time to time. You are not expected to do anything with the pool other than swim and have fun in it.
GARDEN The garden is fully maintained throughout the year.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Had the most perfect week at La T! The house is beautiful and the most equipped place I think we have ever stayed. Our 2 teenage boys managed to keep themselves happily entertained for the whole week
The pool is fab and the sun loungers, sofas and tables make for perfect afternoons and evenings in the sun.
Julia was so helpful from the original booking all the way through to arriving at the house.
Highly recommend!
We had an amazing time, in this beautiful home. The house was great, loads of room and the new kitchen was lovely. The pool was amazing, very large and heated and there are 3 beautiful outdoor seating areas. Would definitely recommend for a large family holiday or friends and we will be back.

Superb holiday home!
We had a wonderful holiday at La T. Fabulous house, great location and communication from the owner was excellent. Our group of 7 adults and 4 children easily fitted into the home. The 2 recently refurbished ensuite rooms were a real treat! The kitchen is well appointed and we weren't at a loss for any equipment/utensils.
Jayne the housekeeper/caterer was very helpful and we enjoyed one of her tasty 4 course meals one evening.
The kids loved the heated pool (as did the grown ups) and the annex is very useful as it has a shower room and toilet which saves wet children running through the house!
Can't recommend La T enough and we'll definitely be back.

A Fabulous Place for a Family Holiday
We were a party of 10, with ages ranging from 9 to 81 years, plus a small dog. La Tuilliere provided ideal family accommodation for all of us: a traditional French farmhouse atmosphere with plenty of space for all of us to be comfortable; bedrooms on ground and upper floors which was helpful for the less mobile in our party; a great outdoor pool within view of the main house which made childcare easy; spacious grounds to sit in and a great location with small villages and shops only a short drive away. There was something for everyone and everyone enjoyed themselves. The property was well-maintained, both indoors and outdoors, and the owners bent over backwards to furnish our particular requests, which was very much appreciated. I would highly recommend La Tuilliere if you are looking for somewhere special to go for a family holiday.

Perfect holiday house
This is a perfect house for a holiday with children of all ages. We were a group of 12 with children ageing from 10-15 plus a dog. There is loads to do without ever having to leave the house. The beautiful pool, table tennis, boules, bikes, golf and a fire pit to cook on, toast marshmallows on and star gaze next to. The house is incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The gardens are stunning and because of the space there is and the fact that the house is surrounded by fields and vineyards it is incredibly private. Staying at this house will guarantee you a truely relaxed holiday. Do try Bertins vineyard on a Thursday at 5pm for tasting and canapes. Be prompt as the tables fill quickly. And try St Foy and Eymet markets.
Will definitely try and return.

Perfectly private location
What a superb place. "La T" was everything we'd hoped it would be - and more. It's privacy and spacious grounds make it a wonderful spot for a crowd of people to enjoy. The facilities are first rate with especially lovely bathrooms and the poolroom was a very popular self-contained unit. Julia couldn't have been more helpful and it was a real treat to have supper delivered on four evenings. The Saturday market at St Foy la Grande is a must and the huge Le Clerc supermarket is also an experience. I know we'll be back!

Summertime heaven at La T
We have just had a magical two weeks at La T. It was our second visit as we were guests of friends who rented it last year and liked it so much that we took it for a fortnight this year!
The first week was quiet before four generations of our family arrived - ranging in age from my mother of nearly 90 down to our new granddaughter of five months. The house is perfect for family parties and our party of nine had a wonderful time, despite the weather not being sunny all the time. It was warm, however, and we seemed to spend the whole time outside by the fabulous pool or on the au vent, round the big table, glasses of rose to hand!
There cannot be that many places where a nearly 90-year old can swim happily every day before breakfast but La T is one of them. The same person beat us all at croquet as well! The house offers every game imaginable and the space to play them - boules, croquet, table tennis etc.
We all loved the tranquility, the lovely surroundings, vines and fields and yet the shopping is not far and very easy, a combination of Leclerc and local shops at Loubes-Bernac and markets too.
Just writing about it makes me want to return and I hope we shall before too long. Our fortnight at La T is without doubt the best family holiday we have had. Thank you to Julia as well for being so helpful with arrangements and always being available to answer questions.

La Tuilliere - A Superb Holiday Retreat
La Tuilliere is a very special holiday home and Julia, the owner, was extremely helpful, contacting us before our stay, providing us with detailed location information etc. On arrival we found the property clean and well presented.
Everything we could possibly have wished for was provided - even the weather was superb ! The enormous heated floodlit pool, a selection of bikes for enjoying riding around the quiet lane, table tennis in the barn, badminton, boules and acres of space for everyone to enjoy the relaxing environment - it was just perfect.
The kitchen was large and very well stocked. There was a laundry room with washer and dryer, ideal if babies or small children are with the party. The en-suite bedrooms were very comfortable and the bedding was of excellent quality - so luxurious after an exhausting day of fun with the grandchildren ! When required, Sarah the Chef was available to provide us with beautifully cooked and presented meals which could be served inside at the large kitchen table or, alternatively, at two separate areas outside.
This property is ideal for large families to share a memorable holiday in an idyllic rural setting with wonderful sites and restaurants to visit within the locality.

Two Weeks at La T
Just back after spending two wonderful weeks at La T.
Everything you have read before is true about the house and location, it is certainly a wonderful place to visit and relax...or do as much as you want.
The local markets, as always, are a joy to visit especially as we were there for the start of the night market season, well worth a visit to Duras on Thursday Night to taste some of the local food and wine.
The local St. Nazaire wine is also very nice, as are the owners and well worth a visit.
The house and grounds suited our party of 10 perfectly and the new swimming pool and pool area were very well used, but we still managed to take our annual canoe from Beynac, still the best place to go to canoe down the Dordogne.
For those more energetic a visit to Parc - En - Ciel is worth the hour or so drive to Lacapelle-Biron, where you can climb through the trees and slide down the Zip slides.
But it's always nice to drive down the long drive at La T and relax again by the pool.

Fourth Stay at La T
Have just returned from our fourth stay at La T. First week with our friends and the second with our kids and a house full of 20 year olds.
Both weeks were perfect with superb weather. The new improvements have made significant upgrades to the bedrooms and bathrooms without detracting from the unique country farmhouse atmosphere.
Local markets provided most of the food with the amazing new Leclerc in Ste Foy doing the rest. There is something rather special in drinking wine whilst looking at the surrounding vines that produce it!
La T is an oasis of peace and quiet. Perfect for a families with young children, teenagers or older. The house copes so well with 12, the dining table providing a hub for meals and chatting under the au vent, really comfortable bedrooms, endless hot water and a cleverly designed even depth swimming pool - ideal for competitive games! Lots of different places for everyone to find their own space if needed.
This is ideal for anyone wanting to be able to retreat away from the rest of the world for their holiday.
Am reluctant to write this for fear of La T not being available for us to return to next year!

A week in La Tuilliere
August 2011 Spent a wonderful week at La Tuilliere. Extremely comfortable house, with special mention for the beds and bathrooms. Had a lazy week and no better place to collapse. Did manage to drag ourselves away from the pool to canoe on the Dordogne at Pessac which was less than 45 minutes away. Great markets nearby and we would especially recommend the figs stuffed with Foie Gras washed down with a delicious Monbazillac. Girls went running, accompanied by us on the mountain bikes. That way we could eat more foie gras! Would recommend this lovely house highly!

A family celebration in rural comfort
We took 3 generations of the family , and nearly 4 with one being very pregnant, to celebrate a special occasion and had a most enjoyable and comfortable week. The house is in a really peaceful setting and well equipped with lots to do if reading a book begins to pall. Highly recommended and it fitted eleven adults splendidly.

June 2009 at La Tuilliere
Best holiday we've ever had! 2 weeks in paradise with magnificent views, total tranquility, 360 degree sun, hot hot days and perfect nights. We invited friends and family to join us and La Tuilliere was perfect. Great restaurants and still good value despite the GBP/Euros. 4 course Michelin quality in top local restaurant still just 25 Euros. The Hot Air Balloon from the front lawn was amazing! Definitely will be back again.
