This being the year of CoVid-2019 things were a bit off everywhere. I believe that most of the families withdrew from renting their Maine camps this summer and this one was no exception. I believe it was just us and one other family this summer in this particular location. Nonetheless, the location was exquisite, with panoramic water views well over 180 degrees from the house. Water access was not great but at least reasonable for kayakers, but no problem at all for the swimmers. We took a refreshing plunge from the dock every morning and the mid August water was perfect. We were joined at the camp by a brotherhood of four ducks that stayed around the camp’s shore for our two week stay. Loons were out there but not in the same numbers that we’ve experienced in prior visits to Norway Lake. The camp itself was well equipped, beds were comfortable, it offered a nice large kitchen table, a four stool kitchen bar that worked well for the kids, bumper pool and ping pong in the basement, a beautiful glassed porch with a pull out bed for an incredible near to nature sleep experience, a generously sized fridge/freezer, microwave, and stove/range. All of our family enjoyed the stay. The north end of Norway Lake is the more natural end, where fishermen can be seen casting in the early morning hours. Swimming was excellent, kayaking was excellent (albeit boats had to be carried about 50 ft or so up from the dock to a flat zone- not really an issue). All in all a great and memorable stay!
