Private house in quiet village close to Cape lookout National Seashore
The William Andrew Way House, ca. 1872, is one of the oldest remaining homes in the charming village of Marshallberg, North Carolina. Marshallberg is one of the 13 communities of Down East on North Carolina's Crystal Coast. Marshallberg is close to the Cape Lookout National Seashore and is part of the North Carolina Outer Banks Scenic Byway. The Way House was thoroughly remodeled and modernized in 2012.
The kitchen is well equipped by the owner who loves to cook. It has a gas stove and dishwasher, an island counter with stools and a custom-built wooden table that seats 10 (and is great for working on jigsaw puzzles).
The master bedroom has a queen bed and private door into the bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed. The library has a new Ikea couch that folds out into a single bed. The library has a smart TV, DVD and Blue Ray player. There are also books and jigsaw puzzles and yoga equipment. The house has WiFi.
The Way house has a private screened-in porch off the kitchen surrounded by bird-filled green space with a table and chairs for dining al fresco and the house comes with a gas Bar-B-Q.
The location is very quiet. There is a public dock off Center Street that faces Core Banks across Core Sound. The park at the end of the Marshallberg Road is a favorite place to watch the sunset. Beside the park a small harbor holds both pleasure and working boats. The village offers interesting walking and bicycling; two bikes are included with the rental.
Marshallberg is a short drive from the Harkers Island ferry to Cape Lookout National Seashore, the Harkers Island Waterfowl Museum, the Cedar Island ferry to Ocracoke, lovely Beaufort NC, Atlantic Beach, hiking in Croatan National Forest, historic Fort Macon State Park, historic New Bern and other historic North Carolina coastal towns.
The Way House suits couples and young families or as a writer's retreat.

We have stayed in this sweet little house twice, and it’s been perfect for our family. It is always spotless and I appreciate that we aren’t given a long list of things to do before we check out. Just take the trash out, but the keys back in the box, and you’re ready to go!
Pet friendly ,clean, loved the kitchen. Wished the tv was in the main living room for more space for family or friends. Overall 9 out of 10. Love the house and yard!
Beautifully restored home in a very quiet neighborhood. Short drives to Beaufort, Atlantic Beach and Moorehead City. Plenty of places for kayaking and fishing nearby. We had a great time exploring the area and coming back to a beautiful home and grounds.

If you did what we did prior to getting here i.e. a week of baseball and crazy Myrtle beach excursions and you need a break, come to this place. Stay, chill, enjoy a full stacked kitchen and plenty of ready to do with walk in the village and friendly locals.
