Amazing View!!!

Overall my family and I had a fantastic trip and would highly recommend this location for a quiet getaway, but still nearby popular hikes and the food/beer scene of Asheville.

Gorgeous view!

The cabin was nice, and the view worth the drive up the mountain. Very comfortable and we had a good week, Biltmore Christmas, a visit to favorite restaurant Esmeralda at Lake Lure, and topped it off with a visit to Hillman's in Old Fort. Would recommend it.

Breathtaking views from Cozy Cool View

We adored our stay in this well equipped, comfortable cabin. The views could not be beat and it was quiet and private. Asheville, Blue Ridge Pkwy, Chimney Rock and other area attractions are a short trip away. Grey beard was easy to work with and very accommodating. Our family highly recommends Cool View Cabin!

The cabin was amazing, the views were awesome. Very well stocked home. Only complaint was the cleanliness when we arrived, it was not well cleaned from the last stay and we had to clean several areas to feel comfortable. Otherwise it was great! I would go back

Cool View Cabin Exceeded Expectations

What an amazing place for a weekend getaway! The cool view cabin was stocked with everything we needed to cook for ourselves the entire stay and the beds were comfy. The view from the back deck was breathtaking! The drive up to the mountain was steep but it is fully paved until you get to the driveway which is gravel and short. We didn’t have any issues making it up and down as needed for hikes, biking, etc. we will be back!

A great place!

We had a lovely time in the cabin. It is very very quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and a chef's dream. Plan to cook. There is a lovely firepit as well as the hottub. Our two dogs came and had a little yard to explore. You are located in the heart of everything. I would prepare for a bit of driving though as you are at the top of the mountain so you must wind down the mountain to get to where you are going which adds about 10 minutes to a trip. You are close to Lake Lure and Black Mountain. Our best day was the day we just hung out all day and night in and around the cabin reading and cooking. Loved it.

Home away from Home

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful week, and really enjoyed the "cool view". We also were grateful for the swimming and water falls nearby, as it was very hot when we were there. The house is very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is very well stocked, which is a good thing, because there are no restaurants nearby. We loved the quiet and privacy, but it was quite a drive just to get to the gate and then to area attractions. Our only suggestion is that there be more furniture on the deck.

Beautiful Mountain Top View

We had a wonderful stay at Cool View Cabin with our daughter and her family. The house had a well stocked kitchen beautiful views from the deck. We had one small issue, but Greybeard was quick to respond and took care of the problem. Our only other issue was the steep drive. The first night in we drove down the drive. Both cars had an issue getting up the drive the next day. We all had to help push. We solved the issue by parking at the top of the drive going forward. The view and the kitchen certainly made the small inconvenience worth it. Highly recommend Greybeard and Cool View Cabin.

A great get-a-way

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a phenomenal time at Cool View Cabin and North Carolina in general. The house is even better in person - the deck view blew my mind. Check in was a breeze..and I liked that the house was in a gated community. About an hour trip from blue ridge parkway hikes. We enjoyed our days on the parkway hiking all day. Also thumbs up for being pet friendly - this was our pup's first road trip (we drove from Miami) and it was an unforgettable experience to share this home and the mountains with him. The house was also really clean and did not smell of pet odors. We will definitely rent again with greybeard and stay at this home if the opportunity arises. Thanks again.

Great Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time at this rental!! The view was breathtaking for sure. The house was very nice, great decor and amenities. The lower bathroom needed a little work, but other than that everything was incredibly clean and well maintained. The drive is quite steep, and we only made it comfortably because we have a 4WD Jeep. The homeowner left a note with tips for less suitable vehicles. Rental staff were great to work with! The location was a little out of the way for Asheville, but the drive was well worth it! It was great to spend a day in the city and then retreat to the woods. And the drive to and from was easy. Definitely not a drawback at all! Also, it is centered in between several awesome parks. We picked this location because of proximity to both the city and the parks. Perfect for getting the whole experience.

Amazing Getaway

This is what the family needed: a nice getaway where the only thing you had to worry about was getting up early enough to watch the amazing sunset off the balcony. House was well stocked and very comfortable. Recommendations I would make to future renters: 1) the mountain road leading to the cabin is pretty steep with several 180° switchbacks. Get there before nightfall on your checkin day. We got there at night and it was pretty scary. Luckily my truck has auxiliary lights that really helped. Which leads me to 2) I’d recommend a 4x4 or AWD vehicle. As I mentioned the road is steep with several grades above 12°. Luckily the weather was amazing during our stay. But I could imagine the road becoming precarious during heavy rain or snow. 3) your probably going to be cooking a lot. There aren’t a lot of restaurants that are close by. We planned out our meals and made a big shopping run. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need. We took full advantage of the stovetop griddle, which was amazing. We highly recommend this cabin. The views are the best on the mountain and the cabin is super cozy. You won’t be disappointed. Unless you hate nature, then there’s no hope for you.

Incredible view; treacherous driving (AWD needed!!)

The view was breathtaking. The level of remote-ness was more than we realized. Virtually no phone service or the ability to contact the outside world in event of emergency. Which we experienced. We could not access the house at first, as the check in lock malfunctioned. The driveway is NOT accessible except to serious off road 4 wheel drive. We required a tow-truck to get us out on the 1st morning, as the EXTREMELY STEEP grade is NOT maintained properly!! The property owners declined to compensate for the $175 tow truck fee.

Overall very nice. A few hazards and deeper cleaning needed

The cabin has the most phenomenal view! The drive up to the cabin is NO joke but so worth it! The kitchen was clean and well equipped and the bathrooms were very clean. The house could use a “deep” clean with accent pillows washed, vacuuming under the beds and around the fridge. We did not use the hot tub as the water was very cloudy and we weren’t sure what to do. A portion of the steps were tough to get down, especially at night. The railing was missing pickets in some areas, so just be careful with small children, elderly and your pets. Additionally, various hazards laying around outside, a pallet with rusty nails in the driveway, and boards laying under the deck. Be careful with small children and pets. That being said, we definitely enjoyed our Christmas holiday and made special memories and would return!
