First time staying here and definitely won’t be our last! We stayed for the weekend and the house was beautiful. Very clean and well decorated. The deck with the view of the river was beautiful and the hot tub was nice and warm at night. The host was very friendly as well:)

We loved everything about this home. The house was beautifully decorated and the owners were easy to contact. Fantastic view overlooking the Mississippi River especially in October. Plenty of places to visit and things to do close by.

WOW! Thank you so very much. We're happy to know you enjoyed your stay and found everything you needed at the house. We appreciate your business and look forward to hosting you again someday.
The home was well-stocked with linens and was very clean! We were a small group, but it was nice to have plenty of room for chilly days. Good location for hiking in state parks along the Mississippi.
This was a perfect rural staycation spot for us. We brought all the food we needed and then just spent our time hanging out in the family room, on the deck and in the hot tub. Spacious lovely home away from it all with great views, especially at sunset.

We are happy to know you enjoyed a relaxing weekend! That's our number one goal. We appreciate your kind words and the condition you left the house in. Come back again anytime!
We staid here with our friends and enjoyed exploring the nearby towns and coming home and soaking in a hot tub off of our room. We bbq’d and lit the fire pit to roast marshmallows. Great overall experience.

Thanks for staying! We appreciate your review and hope you can visit again someday.
Thanks for your feedback! Many folks know that the Great River Road (WI Hwy 35) follows along the river as well as train tracks that have been here for a zillion years. We get the unpleasant (to some) parts right along with the good in this gorgeous Driftless Region of Wisconsin. In our experience over our many years of being in the lodging business our guests focus most on the beauty of being along the Mighty Mississippi River. Train lovers are in heaven!
House was great for us to stretch out in after a long day fishing
The fish cleaning station was very useful as we did catch a lot of fish
Owners are very friendly and helpful
Great parking
I cant say enough good things
Thanks again for everything

Fantastic! We are glad to know your group had a good time fishing and that you enjoyed staying at our Bayview House. We hope you can visit again in the future!
Great view of the river. We took advantage of the outdoor seating, including the upstairs deck, the screened-in porch, or around the fire ring in the evening. Everything exceeded our expectations!

We're happy to know you took advantage of all of the special places to enjoy the beautiful view of the Mississippi River. Exceeding expectations is something we strive for and it's so gratifying to know when guests like you notice that. We thank you very much for booking one of our properties and hope you can return in the future as you were excellent guests!
This was our 2nd year of staying at this property. Perfect for myself and 6 of my friends. Great girls weekend. The hot tub was amazing after a long day of bar hopping.
The only thing missing is an electric mixer. Otherwise this property had everything we needed.
We had so much fun staying at this peacock themed house. We loved all the quirky details. The house was very clean and well kept. Lots of loud trains go by often but after awhile you don’t even hear them anymore. Nonetheless, It was a very relaxing stay! I highly recommend.
We had a fabulous time on the river enjoying the view from the upper deck and lounging in the hot tub. The house is so homey and decorated with flair. Our only complaint is a lack of very basic kitchen items. Cooking included a lot of work arounds due to a lack of basic pots and pans as well as utensils. That being said we would go back in a heart beat just bring whatever you might need in the kitchen!

Thank you for staying and glad you enjoyed the hot tub. We’re sorry you felt the kitchen was inadequate. There are 3 skillets, 3 saucepans, 2 Dutch ovens, griddle, pizza pans, and more. Also a large caddy on the counter full of utensils plus bbq tools in drawer. And have tons of glasses, cups, dishes, and silverware. We’re a little baffled as we feel there is more than enough pots and pans, etc. Hopefully this review doesn’t deter future guests. We’ll add photos of all the cookware and utensils to the listing. Thanks again for staying!
This property offered a lot of room for my family, and the view over the river was breathtaking. It was great to bring our dogs with too, though I was unprepared for the rule that dogs can't be on furniture. I would recommend adding that to the posting as I very well couldn't keep my dogs off furniture when they aren't trained to do so previously. Otherwise great experience!

Thank you so much for staying and we're glad you enjoyed the view. We will make note of our pet rules for other guests going forward. Since there are guests with potential pet allergies we would like to think anybody would keep dogs off the furniture but we understand it may be hard to if they're not used to it. Thanks for the input!
We just got home from a week at this property. We spent a relaxing week playing games, binge watching TV, hot tubbing, sitting on the deck watching nature and stars. This was a great property for our family. We had plenty of space. The house was clean, nicely decorated and had almost everything we needed. The only thing missing was a 9x13 pan. We made it work with 2 smaller pans that were there. I was very impressed with the variety of things provided in the house. I will gladly look for this property or another from these owners if we decide to vacation in that area again.

Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Bayview. We certainly try our best to provide everything our guests expect. Sorry about the missing 9x13 pan -- there was one there at one point but things disappear and we don't always remember to check for that stuff. Oops! We have a replacement that will go there right away.
This house is amazing!! Donna has decorated this Clue-themed house absolutely beautifully!! She even left us a treasure hunt in the house - we did it and had a blast despite the fact that we are all older adults. We came to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday and the house was the perfect mix of relaxing, yet filled with things to do both in the house and in the area. Most of the 5 of us are bird watchers, and it was great to see eagles, pelicans, and many other birds over the Mississippi. Also rabbits, groundhogs, and other wildlife around. We ended up taking a tour of the backwaters of the Mississippi nearby to the house, which was amazing. Everyone greatly appreciated the abundance of towels for use after hot tub and showers. A truly beautiful place to spend a few days in the gorgeous Driftless area of WI, and we would certainly consider coming back here again or to one of Donna and Todd's other properties - thanks for a great stay, Donna!!

WOO HOO! You are exactly the type of guests we always strive for. Thank you so much for noticing my efforts at creating a Clue house and for playing along with the interactive game. It's great to know that you enjoyed your time at this beautiful house and all there is to offer in our little part of the Driftless Area. Please come back again anytime. You're awesome guests!
Just the view we wanted! And the size of the house! Very clean, well stocked, comfortable beds, great supply of wood for the fire pit, kitchen well stocked, information about the house and the area, and the host always responded in a timely manner.
Thank you!
We were looking for a family getaway that was pet friendly, had a water view and most importantly a hot tub. Thankfully it lead us to Ferryville and we loved our experience and look forward to making a return visit.
The house was impeccable and the whimsical decor was fun. We throughly enjoyed our road trip getaway.

About the host
Hosted by Todd & Donna Lensing
Your hosts, Donna & Todd Lensing, have been in the lodging business since 2006 after purchasing the Grandview Motel in Ferryville. Todd has also been a professional duck hunting guide since 2002, and Donna's passion is interior design, which you'll notice when you step through the door of any of our uniquely decorated properties.
Prior to owning the motel we have a combined total of 35 years of retail customer service experience. We know what we're doing, and are proud of our motel and 8 rental properties. We believe we have an excellent idea of what travelers to the Driftless Area expect and look forward to your visit!
Find out why we were drawn the the famous Pool 9 of the Mississippi River. Besides being a top waterfowl hunting destination, this section of the old muddy is an amazing fishery for multiple species year 'round. Our subclimate is so unique and we're happy to tell you what we know about the Driftless Area. Overlooking the river where it's about 3 miles wide, we feel so fortunate to experience Mother Nature's finest.
We do our best to enhance our properties and continue to make any and all necessary improvements to give our guests the very best experience possible. Throughout the year you can plan to see bald eagles, multiple species of waterfowl, including tundra and trumpeter swans. White pelicans provide quite a sight when they're flying along in perfect synchronicity. Songbirds are abundant along the river as well.
There's so much more to love about this area. Make your plans to discover what all the hype is about in our secret little corner of Wisconsin.
Why they chose this property
We're different! We selected a very nice turn-key house and added just the right amount of pizzazz. It's private, and perfectly located with view of the river. Clever, fun decor and everything you could possibly need. Private, comfortable, relaxing.
The screen porch is one of the most popular assets here. You can relax, bug-free, while you soak in the HOT TUB, visit with your friends, read your book...the list is endless. It's only a quick drive to taverns and boat launch. Also, train lovers have the perfect perch for watching them go by. Don't worry, Bayview is way south of the crossing where they blow the horn so that noise is minimal.
Ferryville is about mid-way between La Crosse & Prairie du Chien, approximatel 30 miles in either direction. There's also a bridge crossing over to Lansing Iowa nearby. A visit to the area isn't complete without stepping foot in Horsefall's Lansing Variety. Also, make sure to hit up Coffee on the River while you're there and Mt. Hosmer Park. And the Driftless Visitor Center.
Ferryville has 2 bars that serve food plus a gas station/convenience store. May through October welcomes back the weekly Farmers Market on Saturdays at Sugar Creek Park, just south of town.
There are multiple boat landings in the area, including one right in town. If you plan ahead, you can rent a pontoon boat from S&S Houseboat Rentals in Lansing.
If you like to hike?? You can head over to Sugar Creek Conservancy, just go north a bit and turn on North Buck Creek Road. Rush Creek State Natural Area is upriver a couple miles. Down by Prairie du Chien you'll find Wyalusing State Park, plus Pike's Peak & Effigy Mounds in Iowa. Grandad Bluff and Myrick Park have extensive trails throughout the La Crosse area.
Viroqua is another lovely small city to visit. Lots of eclectic shops and dining options and it's a lovely, scenic drive through the rolling hills of SW Wisconsin.
Get out there and enjoy!
What makes this property unique
Our goal was to provide a place to stay that we would enjoy ourselves, and having a view of the Mississippi River was a priority. We feel we found the perfect place that is easy to get to and provides unique features that will appeal to many. HUGE decks on two levels facing the river, along with a large patio with fire pit. Don't forget the HOT TUB! So many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors!
Donna revamped the entire decor in 2023 that is centered around the game, CLUE. Think Peacock, Green, Plum, Mustard, Scarlet -- those colors are perfectly placed in all the different rooms.
The main floor living room features a gorgeous custom-made sofa that we picked up for a bargain and found cool wallpaper to coordinate. We also had our builder install a banquette booth for dining. There's a fun, interactive scavenger hunt throughout the house with a delightful prize for those who participate.
Did we mention peacocks? You will find at least one item that fits that category in every room. Check out the stair treads -- one giant peacock feather.
The bedrooms are dark and moody and oh so cozy. If you have anyone with mobility issues then the main floor is perfect with 2 bedrooms (king, queen, full) with the bathroom in between. It's also only 2 easy steps from parking up to the wrap-around deck to enter the house.
Afternoon sun can get pretty bright so feel free to open up the power awning on the upper deck with the remote.
The lower deck was screened in a few years ago and is where the HOT TUB is located, along with a dining table and extra chairs. Just outside the porch is a swing!
Also, up near the main entrance is a large patio with fire pit. We have a rack of wood in the fish cleaning shed nearby. There's also a car port that guests are welcome to use.
While we often have couples stay, there is ample room for your larger group. Multiple guests that have their annual trip to the River that always stay at this wonderful house.
See you soon!
