About this property

Nature Lover's Paradise In The Driftless Area Of Southern Wisconsin, USA.

We are located on a hidden bluff at the end of a dead end road in the driftless area of Southern Wisconsin near the popular tourist destination of New Glarus, America's Little Switzerland in Green County Wisconsin.

The property is nestled in a stand of mature oak trees with rock cliffs, deer & turkeys grazing in the yard. It is a nature lovers dream!

The 2600 square foot 3.5 bath log home sits on 40 acres. The home features four spacious bedrooms with plush beds, a large surround deck in the tree tops, high speed internet & access to private walking trails that wind through the woods complete with limestone cliffs and pollinator prairies. The interior of the home is lined with pine boards that give off a pleasant aroma and add to the character adding to the cabin feel but the home is well appointed and has all the features you will likely need.

We are close to many communities like New Glarus, Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Mt Horeb where local festivals take place weekly throughout the spring, summer and fall. Take in a brewery tour or sample some fresh cheese at one of the many local cheese factories. Be sure to ask for fresh curds!

There is easy access to Yellowstone Lake State Park and Wildlife Areas with a host of other possible recreational activities including hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, boating. There is even hunting, in season and recreational shooting at a well maintained no cost range at Yellowstone Lake Wildlife Area.

The lodge is a wonderful place that is perfect in every way. Lots of room, yet still cozy enough to spend time with family and friends. It is great that there is a window in the kitchen that allows you to interact with those sitting in the family room who are watching tv or just hanging out. A wonderfully large deck with grill and blackstone available is also there. Having a firepit located on the property was also a wonderful feature that we enjoyed. Steve is a great host who is very prompt at responding and very easy to work with. This is our second visit and probably wont be the last!

Tucked-away perfection! Quiet, peaceful, and the fire pit made for the dreamiest bonfire nights. Pro tip: the basement is sweater weather, the loft is a mini sauna, and the main floor is juuust right—so pack for all seasons. The host? Absolute gem. You can tell he’s all about making your stay amazing.

Amazing

The house was beautiful. My kids enjoyed playing with toys upstairs while we made food in the kitchen. We all had enough space to play, eat and have alone time. Will definitely book this house again. Steve was amazing and gave helpful tips along the way. Hands down best BnB

Peaceful Getaway with Everything You NeedExcellent communication from the host—quick, friendly, and helpful. The cabin was exactly as described and even better in person. The kitchen was impressively stocked with every utensil, pan, and gadget you could want, making meal prep a breeze. Tucked away in a quiet, serene spot, it was the perfect place to unwind. Plus, there’s no shortage of things to do just a short drive away—whether you’re after hiking, exploring small towns, or just soaking up nature.

About the host

Hosted by Stephen & Marilyn Zipsie

Host profile image
My wife Marilyn and I were born and raised in Southern Wisconsin. We have lived in the area all our lives and know that there are many special places in this world but there is no place like home! Our daughter and her husband live nearby and we are able to see our grandchildren on a daily basis. It is a great place for a family and we chose to make it our home.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I purchased this home last year because it was at the end of our dead end road right next our home and included land adjacent to our land. We retired recently and thought that it would be a good place for friends and family to stay while visiting the area. When not use by our guests, it is available to the family.

What makes this property unique

We love this part of Wisconsin because it is in a physically beautiful area with trout streams, cliffs and deep valleys. We can watch the deer in the yard every morning and hear the sounds of sand hill cranes and turkeys by day or watch a bald eagle circling overhead and hear coyotes by night. At night the sky is full of stars that most will never see. With all the hustle and bustle and chaos in the world these days, we know that we can step outside and hear the sound of the wind in the trees and leave everything behind us and just enjoy life with our children and grand children.
