Welcome to Sunny Silves and our renovated townhouse! Enjoy the sun on your rooftop terrace or in the peace of a secluded garden with old stone walls and fruit trees. Explore the charming historic town of Silves on your doorstep. Nature walks, in the hills, begin a kilometer away and the coastline and beaches, are a short 15 kilometer drive to the south

Our property consists of 2 recently renovated town houses in the centre of Silves. Each house has a private terrace but they also share a common courtyard and garden.

Your house is the first one. It has a front door on the street and also direct access to the common courtyard. It has a hall, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living space with open kitchen and a laundry area. From your private rooftop terrace you can enjoy the view. and sunbathe. You can also have a meal outside in the courtyard or relax in the garden.

The historic centre is on your doorstep. Silves is a small town on a hill. Above is the old Moorish castle (once the capital of the Algarve) and below the Arade river. There are monuments and many charming restaurants and cafés, but the city is calm compared to the nearby coast.

Only a short drive brings you to the Southern coast. There are a few long flat sandy expanses but mainly cliffs, intimate beaches and pretty villages.

Directly north of Silves begin the foothills of the Sierra de Monchique. It is a beautiful place for nature walks and one feels quickly away from everything.

There are no parking restrictions, with a bit of luck you should be able to park on the road close to the house.

There is internet but no TV

In October 2023 I installed a heat pump system in the living area and kitchen which does both heating and air conditioning. In the bedrooms there are electric radiators and fans.

A wonderful place to stay that felt like home from the moment I arrived! Comfortable and well equipped, it had everything that I needed. The rooms get dark quite early in autumn/winter, but you can still catch some sun on the rooftop terrace or the garden. Thyl is a great host and was always quick to reply to any questions. I’d be happy to stay here again!

Excellent property with shared garden. Perfect for our 5 days exploring the Algarve. Silves is a great little town. The house is walking distance to everything. Parking was never a problem and Thyl was an outstanding host.

Place is really a perfect location to explore Silves and the surroundings, including the Algarve coast. Also the place itself is very nice, clean, just as described on the platform. And as if that wasn’t enough, Thyl is a very friendly host, and always helpful when needed. Would love to come one day again :)

Really pleasant stay

Very nice appartment, everything was as promised, all the small details (soap, washing supplies, milk, beer etc) were taken care of, and the appartment was extremely clean and well maintained. Thyl was very helpful and friendly and seemed very forthcoming. This was our second stay in one of Thyls appartments, and we would definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Great place, cute town

The apartment was exactly as it was described. The outdoor space was lovely. We had a minor issue the first day and our host, Thyl, arrived to address it within five minutes. He was wonderfully informative about the town and was very helpful with recommendations. Thyl also does tours and we thoroughly recommend. Thank you!

We loved staying in this Duplex in Silves. Thyl the owner was very helpful. Gave us great tips about where to go and what he would recommend doing. The Duplex had everything you need to make your stay very confortable. The backyard was so beautiful and very private. Enjoyed dinner in the picnic area a couple of nights. The views from our private varanda were breath taking. Cafe's restaraunts, and shops were all walking distsnce about 5 minutes. Would definately come back.

Logement agréable, bien équipé et assez vaste pour 4 personnes. On descend assez vite au centre ville et il est assez facile de se garer a proximité. Suggestion : quelques assiettes de plus et surtout un micro-ondes serait apprécié. Merci au propriétaire qui a été tres réactif lors de la panne du lave-linge

Ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen

Das Häuschen war mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Auch Putzmittel gab es (!). Der Vermieter Thyl ist freundlich, sehr hilfsbereit und kommuniziert offen. Der Garten und die Dachterrasse sind ein Traum - wenn die Sonne scheint. Leider gab es ein paar Regentage, dann ist die Wohnung etwas kühl. Aber es gibt Heizgeräte.

Séjour correct, sans plus...

Agréable accueil de la part du propriétaire. La ville (village) de Silves est plaisant à visiter, la location étant à quelques minutes du centre. Centres commerciaux à proximité. Voilà pour les points positifs. Maintenant, cherchant un cadre verdoyant, il est difficile (voire, impossible) d'en profiter lorsque les deux logements sont occupés, l'intimité n'étant plus au rendez-vous. Quant au toit terrasse, il doit être très agréable en dehors de la période estivale, car, impossible d'y mettre un parasol (celui-ci pouvant s'envoler) et par voie de conséquence, la chaleur n'est pas tenable. La location (spartiate et vétuste) reste dans son jus, il ne faut pas être regardant. Les chaises ne sont pas exploitables, la planche à repasser rouillée, la propreté de la SDB (moisissures) n'est pas à la hauteur, le ménage n'est pas fait en profondeur. Le propriétaire en a été informé lors de notre départ. Le logement est sombre, cependant, lors des fortes températures, les chambres emmagasinent tout de même la chaleur... Un inventaire devrait être fait par le propriétaire sur la vaisselle et la batterie de cuisine afin de renouveler certains éléments. Bref, un point de chute correct mais en dessous de ce que les photos et les commentaires pouvaient nous laisser espérer.

Een oase in een fraaie stad

Thyl is een goede gastheer. De woning is ruim, ligt in het oude centrum, heeft een fijn dakterras en een fraaie tuin met mandarijn- en citroenbomen. Zon en schaduw dus. Mooi kasteel en schitterende kerk op loopafstand, ook een Lidl. Veel terrassen om iets te eten en te drinken. Silves is zeer de moeite waard.

We loved our stay is Silves. Thyl's townhouse and garden are even better than the online pictures. Tucked away behind a gate on one of Portugal's old cobblestone streets you'll find one of two well equipped, spacious and cozy townhouses. But it is the backyard garden that was idealic ! Flowering vines and citrus trees, lawn chairs to lounge in and a roof top garden, perfect for breakfast or evenings with a panoramic view of the surrounding village. Thyl was available at all times for any questions or tips...we highly recommend this location !!

Erg schoon en uitstekende ligging in Silves.

Alles prima geregeld Appartement is schoon en voorzien van alle comfort. Vooral in de zomer comfortabel met een mooie tuin. In de winter binnen erg koud vooral s avonds. Kacheltje geeft niet voldoende warmte. Gastvrouw Carol was heel behulpzaam. Compliment 👍

Hello, I am Thyl (pronounced "Teel"). I have always loved this warm cosy country and moved here in 2017. During the tourist season I guide and drive Jeep Safaris and River Cruises (www.silvestours.com) and the rest of the year I am an artist painter. Belgian by nationality but of mixed origin I speak English, French, Dutch and Portuguese. Most of the time I live in the house next door on the street. I respect your privacy but am available for help or tips when needed.

Why they chose this property

First of all, I love the location. Silves is a beautiful historic town, with lively places to hang out but at the same time more "authentic" and calm than the nearby coast. The hills are in a walkable distance and the sea a short drive.
Second of all, the garden. It really is in the city and yet it is also green, peaceful and private.
