Aird Cottage, North Duntulm is located near the most northerly point on the Isle of Skye's Trotternish Peninsula and is in a crofting community bordering the shores of Kilmaluag Bay. The Trotternish Peninsula has some of the most spectacular scenery on the island. The area is one of great natural and rugged beauty with views across to the mainland. Driving up to the cottage from Portree you will pass famous landmarks such the Old Man of Storr, the basalt rocks of Kilt Rock and the Quiraing.
Aird Cottage lies next to the sea shore and offers unrestricted sea views across Kilmaluag Bay to the mountains of the mainland and the bay of Gairloch. Originally built in 1920, the cottage is a stone built croft house which has been modernised to an excellent high standard. A sun lounge has been added to further enjoy the panoramic stunning views seen from cottage.
Aird Cottage is the ideal tranquil holiday base whether it be for pure relaxation or activity filled days. Guide books and maps are provided to help you choose your preference. Areas of interest in this area alone include Kilt Rock, Duntulm Castle, The Skye Museum of Island Life, Flora MacDonald's grave and many galleries. The island is yours to explore.

The cottage is very well equipped and comprises of sun lounge, living room, kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms (one double and a twin) and a large separate utility room. The cottage also has wireless broadband.

The Village of Uig and the Western Isles Ferry Terminal is only 7 miles to the southwest and the village of Staffin is also 7 miles to the southeast and has good local services including village shops / post office and cafe / restaurant. The Island's capital Portree is some 23 miles to the south and here you will find all the facilities you would expect of a busy town including, restaurants, leisure facilities, cinema / theatre and selections of shops and supermarkets.

The Cottage is available to let all year round. Sorry, no smoking or pets.

Amazing Aird Cottage
Had a lovely 4 days at the cottage. It is very remote, but worth the trip for the lovely views and cosy feel. Property was amazingly well stocked and everything had been thought of.

What a joy of a place to visit!
Staying at Aird cottage was a truly wonderful experience. There are views to the east the south and the west that change minute by minute, never mind day by day. The cottage self is a joy, comfortable and very well insulated. It is a really practical kitchen, if you like to do your own cooking, and an excellent utility room. The bedrooms are comfortable too but what really sad the cottage apart are the wonderful, wonderful views. There is plenty to do on Skye, whether walking, visiting historical sites, or enjoying some of the wide range of restaurants. However, even if your priority is simply resting, relaxing and enjoying the natural environment I think that you absolutely could not do better. Many thanks!

Fairy-tale cottage at the end of the world
Wonderfully located cottage offering amazing views of the sea and Quiraing. Enjoying morning coffee/tea at terrace/lobby looking at sunrise is wonderful experience. Elma (host) is very helpful - disclosing all information you may possible need. On the ground floor you will find fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with bath/shower and lovely living room with log burner + lobby and terrace. Upper floor offers 2 cosy bedrooms with very comfy beds perfectly suited for restful nights after long hikes.

Stunning Location
We had a wonderful two week stay in Aird Cottage. The location couldn’t have been better with stunning views across the bay to the mountains in the distance. We were surrounded by wildlife and of course the sheep and rabbits. The cottage was everything we could have wished for, clean, tidy with everything we needed for our stay. The sun lounge was our favourite room, we spent many hours gazing out at the ever changing scenery. Perfect in every way. Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Aird cottage. The location was perfect for the sights around the Trotternish and the view from the cottage was delightful. The property was clean and well equipped and would definitely stay there again. It was a wonderful introduction room to a spectacular Island and I will be back!

Lovely Cottage in Amazing Location
The cottage was lovely and we felt at home straight away. The kitchen was well equipped and having a separate living room and sun room was great. The sun room was fabulous and we spent a lot of time here watching the ever changing views of the mountains and the bay. There were some lovely walks directly from the house and we loved this part of the island. It is quite isolated but we loved that about it. Communication with Elma was excellent We’d love to return

House with a view
This is probably the best cottage we ever had. Clean and spacious with a large conservatory with a fantastic view. We spent more time in the conservatory than in the sitting room proper. The large utility room with a separate entrance is a bonus, which proved very useful for keeping the walking and cycling gear that you wouldn't necessarily like to have inhouse. The only slightly negative point is a noisy boiler but if one uses it outside of sleeping hours then this is not a problem at all. I would like to think that we would be back.

Wonderful holiday in Skye
We have just returned from a week in Aird Cottage and it was perfect. The cottage is comfortable and equipped with everything you need and the view is breathtaking. The location is ideal for a week away from it all and perfect for exploring the Trotternish peninsula and visiting the Outer Hebrides by ferry from Uig. Would highly recommend this cottage . Perfect Skye Retreat
Well appointed house with plenty of space and very well equipped. Fabulous sun- lounge from which to view the sea, mountains, sheep and rabbits in the garden. Very well equipped kitchen/ diner, comfortable TV lounge and a splendid utility room. It was never warm enough for us to sit on the veranda, but could see that it would be the perfect place to sit on a warm evening.

The old farmer
At Aird Cottage we had the privilege to watch an old farmer care for his Angus herd of brown and black cattle with young calves. I watched him every day once or twice driving his quad on the enormous hill to look after the youngsters born. Meanwhile we made lovely walks on the hills at the back of Aird cottage. During our third walk we finally reached Rubha Hunish Lookout Bothy on Meall Tuath with stunning views on the Outer Hebrides. Unfortunately we didn't see whales (the reason was simple—it wasn't summertime), but we saw plenty of grey seals in a Bay near the Lookout. Portree was a nice town to visit with its excellent bookshop, a nice harbor and deep dark blue seawater. Our visit to Skye was a great succes.

absolutely gorgeous property
I don't know where to start, and honestly I'm afraid to say how much we loved our stay at Aird Cottage, as it may not be available for when we hope to return some time in the future. The views are magnificent, the cottage was clean and comfortable, and we experienced great communication with Elma. Our stay at Aird Cottage was perfect in every way, and can't think of a better place to stay at, to enjoy the beauty of the Isle Of Skye.
