This pretty seaside holiday cottage in Connemara is one of a little cluster of twelve holiday cottages in Galway. Ballyconneely Holiday Cottage No.5 is set in an idyllic location in the heart of Connemara National Park, mid-way between the picturesque towns of Roundstone and Clifden, beneath the Hill of Doon. These seaside holiday cottages are also ideally located on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in Galway.

Our cluster of coastal holiday cottages are just a short walk from the sandy of Bunowen and Connemara Golf Club and a 5-minute drive from the local convenience store and pub of Ballyconneely. Bunowen Bay on the Slyne Head is 1 km from our holiday cottages in Connemara, a small, sheltered and picturesque beach with crystal clear waters.

The famous Connemara Smokehouse is also nearby where one can buy local smoked fish. Add to this a round of golf at the Connemara Golf Club and you have a recipe for a wonderful self-catering holiday from our seaside cottages in Ballyconneely. Property DescriptionOur cluster of seaside holiday cottages in Ballyconneely are in a courtyard setting, and vary a little in style. Ballyconneely Holiday Cottage No.5 is a bungalow and sleeps 5+1 guests comfortably. The open plan kitchen, dining room and living room is perfect for gathering friends and family. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need for an easy self catering holiday in Ireland. After a long walk in the Connemara wilderness you and your guest can relax beside the pretty woodburning stove in the living room.

There are two bedrooms sleeping 5+1 guests comfortably, the bedroom layout is:

• Bedroom 1: Double en-suite bedroom with shower
• Bedroom 2: Double bed, single bed plus a camp bed. The camp bed is only suitable for a child up to the age of 12 years old.

The family bathroom includes a bath with overhead shower. Local AreaThe vibrant seaside town of Clifden is 13 km from our seaside holiday cottages in Connemara. Clifden has a great selection of cosy cafes, award winning restaurants, lovely craft shops and art galleries. Set in the heart of Connemara, Clifden is surrounded by magnificent beaches, delightful picturesque villages and glorious mountains. In August the town hosts the famous Connemara Pony Show which has become a mix of traditional horse show and more varied town fair, with stalls and bands in the main square.

In the opposite direction is the quaint village of Roundstone, 20 km from our pretty holiday cottages and at the foot of Errisbeg Mountain. It is an attractive seaside village with a great selection of seafood bars and restaurants. In summer it is the host to many local festivals such as the Roundstone Pony Show, Féile Cloch na Rón Regatta, Roundstone Dog Show and Roundstone for fun festival. Things to see & do on your next self catering holiday in GalwayHowever, there are an array of festivals on throughout the year in varies locations in Connemara, if you are looking for a challenge head to Connemara in March and take part in the Gaelforce Sky Run. A mountain running event incorporating 3 distances to suit different levels of mountain running fitness, set in the rugged wildness of the Maamturk mountains. The popular and scenic Connemara Marathon takes place annually in April however there are numerous events and festival on in Connemara throughout the year, from walking festivals to trad music festivals, golfing competitions to sheep and pony festivals.

The Omey Races take place annually on the strand at Omey Strand, near our holiday cottages in Claddaghduff in Connemara. The annual summer races have been steadily attracting greater numbers every year for a wonderful day of sand, sea, possibly sun and of course, horse racing.Local BeachesGurteen Bay which is 15 km from our holiday cottages is one of the finest beaches in Ireland. Gurteen Beach and Dog’s Bay lie back to back forming a tombolo jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean. Gurteen Beach is the larger of the two beaches and is located closer to Roundstone village. The water here is crystal clear and perfect for water-based activities including windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is naturally protected by the headland which it faces to the south and this is a very popular destination for holidaymakers in the summer with wonderful walks and it's a great place to collect sea shells.

Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay make up one of the finest stretches of coastline in Connemara with uncompromising views of Errisbeg and the surrounding countryside. The beaches were formed by a sand spit and tombolo which now separates the two bays and their beaches.
