Glacier National Park cabin! Our basecamp to explore GNP, just 6 minutes away!
Come stay at our cabin, just 7 miles from the entrance to Glacier National Park! We are conveniently located in Coram, Montana, 200 yards from the nearest hike or ski, and across the road from the bike trail into Glacier. All while being close enough to a restaurant and pub to walk- even following a long day in the Park. Two miles down the road is the nearest grocery, as well as the Hungry Horse Reservoir, a great place for boating, fishing, and huckleberry picking. The quaint cabin has a spacious loft with a queen-size bed, and is accessed by a steep staircase (ladder). For those not wishing to sleep in the loft, there is also a queen-size futon bed downstairs in the living room. There is a kitchen available with stove, sink, and refrigerator, which we try to keep stocked with basic essentials. Enjoy the sun setting behind Teakettle Mountain from the outdoor covered porch, from the fire-pit, or catch the last light while inside through the many western windows. The cabin has terrific access all-year-round, being just 100 yards off of Highway 2. As such, the sounds of the highway, railroad, and our neighbors can be heard. However, those sounds are more than offset by the proximity to Glacier National Park. Just down the road is the Stonefly Lounge, where you can catch live music on most summer weekend evenings, and next door is the Glacier Grille where you can grab a bite to eat. Across the road is Glacier Highline, a natural adventure park with ziplines and other fun activities for kids. Walk another hundred yards or so and you'll make your way to Coram's own whiskey distillery, where you can taste a little of Glacier's history (be sure to ask for Josephine Doody's story if sampling the moonshine!). Wi-fi is spotty- it can sometimes be out for a couple of seconds or even up to a day or two. As such, we do not list it as an amenity, although it can be useful. The main attraction, is of course, the Park! The owners have and do work for park in various capacities (Park Ranger, guide, biologist, etc.) and have an enormous wealth of knowledge about it. In fact, my wife Chelsea and I live and work as scientists just outside of Glacier National Park, and we've started our own business to conduct science in the Glacier area! Search for South Fork Environmental Research and Consulting on our website to see what we're currently working on. The cabin has basic hiking necessities as well- bear spray, maps, suggestions. There is really so much to discover- if you have a question about anything in particular, ask the owners in your correspondence. We hike, raft, fish, bike and pick berries all over the area, and would love to let you in on a few of our secrets.
Our house is right next door, as well as two brand new A-Frames (built 2022)- ask us about booking multiple cabins if you're meeting family! Discounts are available for booking multiple cabins, ask us when you inquire.

We came in for easy access to GNP, super close to get in! We ordered carry out pizza from Last Best Pizza and stopped by Glacier Distillery right up the road. Easy access!
The cabin was cozy and wondeful. Perfect spot not to far from the park entrance.

Trains, planes and automobiles, all hours of the night. Train whistles every hour like they were pulling up outside. If you can deal with that, it is a nice small home with everything you need, about 7 minutes from the Glacier Park West entrance.
We had a group of 4 and we found the place very accommodating and spacious. We appreciated the book recommendations and the other informational resources. The only issue we had was the wifi was not working when we were there. Thankfully cell service was decent in the area.

Deuce entrance difficult to see when pulling out. ‘Garden’ was a natural growth to promote insects. However bees were more than plentiful where we parked and on porch. Very close to highway so noisy Stairs to bedroom very steep, railings short and had to go backwards to go down. Short ceiling at foot of bed. VERY few cooking items to utilize (one pan and one large useless pot. Refrigerator wobbly. Couch uncomfortable.
The outside was very grown up and made us a tad concerned about potential for snakes. Outside trash cans were so full from before we arrived we could not put the lid on the cans once we added the one bag we had from out stay. Other than that, the cabin was great for what we needed. Really hope that more care will be taken in the future to keep the grass and weeds under control.

Hi Larissa,
We're sorry you felt uncomfortable. We do have snakes here in northern Montana, but none of the dangerous variety- the kind my girls play with. For other folks thinking about booking- we manicure a very small portion of the "yard" and mow a few trails down to the elk. Half of the rest of the yard is currently progressing toward an aspen forest and we let the other half go wild with pasture grasses, wildflowers, and yes, some unwanted thistle. We prefer to see wildlife like birds, deer, elk, bears, bees and butterflies in our "yard", and will continue to manage it in this way- be forewarned :)!

Check in was easy enough with the lockbox. However, the key didn't actually lock the door. We contacted the host but they didn't understand that when you take the key out of the door, it actually UNLOCKS it. We took all of our valuables with us each day because the cabin didn't lock. The convection hot plate and separate oven were fine. The glasses, dishes and pots were not clean. The pasta pot still had grease/sauce on the inside of the lid. the cups had dried coffee in them. The entire cabin was clean only on the surface. The futon cover is very warn and smelly. As you come up the ladder to the loft, you can see that the floor, especially under the bed, had not been swept. The bedding smelled like body odor and made for a very uncomfortable stay. Other bedding available had hair and dust on it so we didn't want to use that either. There was only 1 bathroom hand towel for the the entire weeks stay. Vegetation around the driveway and deck was extremely overgrown. It was dangerous to pull into/out of the driveway due to blind spots on both sides. We actually didn't even see the driveway upon arrival. We were assured that the house was "well stocked" but the spices were empty, there were no paper towels or napkins available. We had to make a special trip back to the grocery store for basics.

Not the best experience.
My daughter slept in the loft and I slept on the futon. We got there late and wanted to go right to bed. The bedding for the futon was in two boxes underneath. It included a puff, a blanket, and two pillows but no sheets and no pillowcases. I was disgusted. The pillow had yellow stains on it. I stuffed it inside a clean shirt. All the neighbors have dogs. One in particular sounds like they have a pack of dogs. And they let them outside at all hours of the day and night where they fight and bark. Woken up from a sound sleep both nights and impossible to take a nap during the day. We ended up leaving a day early. You can’t get in touch with the landlord to complain because there is no WiFi. Also, no fire pit, as promised. There was a note tacked up saying it was because of dry conditions, however, we had a fire pit everywhere else we rented. And they don’t mow the lawn.

That is unfortunate that you didn't have an enjoyable stay. We were unaware of any issues, as we were not contacted at all during the stay, but had provided plenty of recommendations beforehand. There is phone service and 4g at the cabin, and we make it clear there is no WIFI.
We do not make the futon for guests, as most like to use it as a couch, but provide clean linens in boxes underneath. It sounds like our cleaner may have made a mistake there- we apologize. A simple phone call would have brought her over with some sheets (she lives in the neighborhood).
We no longer offer a fire pit because of the danger to our community during our long-term (sadly, maybe forever!) drought. We mow a trail to the picnic table and a little space there for hanging out.
Just to make clear (again!) to everybody looking to book-
We pride ourselves on the adventures our guests have while using our cabins as home bases to explore the park. We have had well over 1000 visitors now, and very few complaints.
There is no longer a fire pit, and there never was WIFI. We still mow a small spot for guests to walk along but prefer to keep things mostly wild.
The cabin is IN Coram, there is no real wilderness experience here. There are a highway, railroad, and people with dogs, living nearby.
Most of our guests spend their days hiking, biking, and rafting and look forward to coming back to a base within walking distance of food, drinks, and play. If you're looking for a different type of experience, you may have to look elsewhere, but as a base for adventures, look no further!
Stayed here off VRBO for our anniversary. Listing says WiFi- it was very very very spotty. We came in when they were doing pre evacuations due to fires- owner never mentioned this to us. We were coughing and congested for most of the trip. The smoke was heavy and we had ash on our car. Thankfully we do not have medical respiratory issues. Upon arriving, the cabin was dusty (main light fixture, top of fridge, book shelf, etc...) and the sliding door had dog or kid prints on it. The bathroom has a busted and faded bottle of hand soap. I appreciated they had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and sunscreen. The weeds/ grass needs to be maintained and trimmed. The door was difficult to lock from the inside and outside every day, 7 days worth. Like it took 10 minutes on average to lock it. I now know why they had a piece of wood on the inside of the door, as a way to somewhat secure the door if you couldn't lock it once inside. This was the most irritating thing, more than the way spotty WiFi. It's nice to know my things are secure if I am away. I contacted the owner about the door lock, they said they ordered a replacement. Past reviews show this complaint too. Suggestions to add a microwave, TV with DVD's, window or portable AC, and board games. We heard the train pass by numerous times at night- got used to it. The cabin was cute otherwise and served it's purpose.
Great base for visiting GNP! Cabin is well-equipped and cozy. Grill & picnic table also nice to have. If you are a light sleeper, definitely turn on the air purifier or bring a fan and/or ear plugs. Lots of hiking info provided by the owners.
this small home is fine for ideal location near the park. very few amenities- no space to unpack, no microwave, loft ladder is super steep & home is hot during the day. But clean with nice shower and standard kitchen supplies. The neighborhood is noisy- railroad, loud trucks, barking dogs but owners have supplied lots of useful hiking information & that's what this vacation home is all about.
Pictures do not do this cabin justice - it is immaculate and very cozy! My 6’9 husband didn’t bump his head on anything, yay! Kitchen is stocked with oils and spices!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HIKING/AREA GUIDE BOOK! It really helped us out!
Treat this place as a base and expect noise. The location to GNP Entrance is fantastic (6 mins,) however because there is no AC you need to leave the windows open. This is problematic at night with the trains working at night. We opened the windows early in the day so it could cool down, and muted the sound with a fan and shut windows and slept great.
So nice to be a short drive from the Park entrance. Reminded me of some places I’ve stayed in the Dolomites or Switzerland. Heater was needed on 19 degree morns, and worked well! HOT water. HOT. Overall, tranquil and well-constructed. Trains can be a bit loud, but may subside as the port transportation issues are resolved.
Great place with a great location to Kalispell airport and GNP. Only problem was door would not lock. But don’t hesitate to book.

We're glad you had a great stay! We've addressed the lock issue, but it still is a bit finicky to lock from the outside. It just takes a bit of a jiggle!
Location in relation to the park helped us get a good head start at the beginning of each day.
Communication with Nate was exceptional. If not for him informing us, early on, of the the park’s ticketed entry process, we may have never known. Awesome, cozy, basecamp close to the park!!
Wife and I enjoyed the location being close to Glacier Park entrance and Great Northern rafting. Vert good star viewing at night. Kitchen well equipped.
All was terrific! Property was private and secluded with great outdoor space and terrific access to all places in the GNP region. Amenities at the cabin were perfect especially the grill, picnic table and firepit. Great bathroom with lots of hot water and strong shower. Walked to restaurants. Just lovely.
Cute cabin , easy to find and close to glaciers west enterance
This was an amazing trip and something we talk a lot!

Cabin outside Glacier Nat'l Park
Good little cabin fairly close to Glacier. We were concerned that the sleeping loft might cause us problems as there wasn't much of a railing but it turned out okay. Host was accessible when I had a question.

Hi, I'm Nate. My wife Chelsea and I live and work as scientists just outside of Glacier National Park, and just finished building our cabins and our house from the ground-up with our own four hands (2022!). In effort to give credit where credit is due, we have also enlisted the expert assistance of our young children, tool belts and all. We've also started our own business to conduct science in the Glacier area! Why they chose this property
Close enough to Glacier National Park to roll out of bed and still beat the crowds!
