2 bedroom flat in the most peaceful street in the village of Monchique. 25min drive from quieter beaches in the West and busier ones in the South. if you're looking to avoid the Touristy busy-ness, this is a good place for that. Monchique boasts of some amazing walking trails, natural sprint Spa, genuine great produce on the food and drink front and an amazing sense of community. For example, you can go to the big supermarket and chances are, the lady at the checkout will know every other person There’s also a large public pool in a beautiful outdoor space that is free entry 5 minute walk away. there's lots to see and to do

Really lovely apartment in a quaint mountain town, I’d say you need a smaller car as the roads are really narrow but also really interesting. Lush views. Could do with a few more basic things in the kitchen such as a grater, peeler and a can opener and we had trouble with hot water but the owners will be getting that sorted asap. Would definitely come back again. We traveled each day to different beaches on both coasts and homes in the mountains and it was perfect.

Water heating system is very inconsistent--temperature fluctuates madly when you shower. Also need some more supplies--just a few extra toilet papers would be appreciated. The apartment is very nice and the view is incredible--worth the three flights of stairs! Monchique is a wonderful little village.

We had an absolute 5/5 stay in Monchique!From the moment we arrived, the authentic Portuguese feel made the whole experience special and grounded. The location couldn't have been better,it was so convenient to town, making it effortless to get around and explore. Plus, the views are completely breathtaking, a massive highlight of our stay.We also noticed past reviews mentioning issues with the hot water, but for us, the hot water worked perfectly.Huge shoutout to the hosts as well. The support both over the phone and locally on the ground was incredible, very responsive, helpful, and attentive whenever we needed anything.Couldn't have asked for a better start to our trip. Highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic, seamless Monchique experience.

we're a young family who likes to travel, works really hard and tries really hard to make the most of the little time we get to spend altogether.

Why they chose this property

originally we thought of getting a little family holiday home by the Coast, we know the Portimao / Lagoa area well so we thought this would be a good option but on our travels we found ourselves up the Mountain and quickly realised that we wanted a holiday home to relax and slow down and in bustling algarve in the summer in particular doesn't really let you do that as much as we would like. Monchique is just that old fashion Portugal in a beautiful setting in Algarve highest peaks. surrounded by vast nature, it boasts of tranquility, genuine local hospitality, some amazing food that is still being produced using old fashion natural and organic methods. We feel that we still have a lot to learn about Monchique and now that the apartments are pretty much finished, we look forward to our future visits and exploring furthermore as a family

What makes this property unique

main benefit has to be how tranquil it is for a village centre. if you love nature you're in a great spot and if you have transport, you can pretty much go anywhere in the algarve with some ease. you can be at the beach in less than 1/2 hour and you can choose from the southern busier coast or more relaxed west coast. there's a natural spring spa which everyone seems to say that boasts from all sorts of health benefits. it apparently brings people from all over the country even some of the celeb types. not that we'd personally case but we do look forward to taking time to experience it and see what the fuss is all about... look forward to update this at some point soon
