Loved staying in this cottage for a break while visiting family. Location is spot on with local towns close enough vut with that touch of being in the countryside and the bigger cities in touching distance. With beaches and wider countryside a little drive away.Cottage was comfortable, with the odd "tired" thing but nothing worth marking down for, very well equipped and the ideal home away from home....if available would happily stay again.
We had a lovely stay in this cottage , it had everything we needed ,it was a short drive from a lot of tourist attractions , and our family who we were visiting

The cottage exceeded all our expectations.
The cottage exceeded all our expectations. It was spacious, warm and comfortable. All the rooms were quite large and whilst there were only two of us it could easily accommodate two couples or a family of four. The kitchen was well-equipped (but the oven was difficult to programme). The bedrooms had much storage space with large wardrobes and chests of drawers, which you don't always get in these cottages.
Bathroom was very modern and now has an electric shower which was a nice surprise because the website said that it didn't have one.
The owner, Mrs Bainbridge, was very pleasant, welcoming and helpful.
We are members of the NT and English Heritage and there are many of their properties and sites within easy distance. Gibside is only 15 minutes away and there are some really good walks through the estate.
All in all this cottage was a real find and we can't recommend it enough.

Outstanding! We had a lovely weekend here and would definitely book again, the only bad point was the weather which can’t be helped (still it gave us chance to have some quality family time indoors!).
The owners have thought of everything and were extremely helpful.

Nice spacious cottage in good location with access to plenty of things to do and places to visit.
Nice spacious cottage in good location with access to plenty of things to do and places to visit. Cottage could do with a bit of TLC (eg various light bulbs needing replacing), a dishwasher (plenty of room to have one installed) and WiFi. Shared use of tumble dryer was difficult as always in use. Shared use of freezer.
