As mentioned in the Covid safe information we send to each guest currently, we have been instructed by authorities to remove provisions that cannot be easily sanitised. This includes items such as salt & pepper, oil, al foil, cling wrap, paper towels, tissues etc. We do hope this is only a temporary measure and we can get back to our usual procedures at some stage soon. The owners have put a lot of time and love into this property to ensure guests have a wonderful time. We would love to have fires all year round, however we have it available at certain times of year for various reasons due to environment, lack of supply of wood and also fire restrictions. The owners have ensured that the heating is more than adequate, so that heating is not relied upon by lighting the fire but we do recognise the atmosphere a wood fire can create and understand your disappointment. Hi William & Neisha, We are extremely surprised and disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay and have found Gypsy’s Rest to be to the point of being “inhospitable”. Guests usually appreciate the great lengths we go to, to ensure our guests are happy. In saying this, we will certainly take on any legitimate constructive feedback and if guests comments are indeed correct to put into place improvements wherever we can, regarding amenities or facilities etc. I can only suggest to you to research the property you are looking to book more thoroughly to ensure it is in line with what you are wanting to book. If you are a larger group requiring a larger house and 2 toilets (we have never had a large group feel they had to urinate in the garden, as you mentioned you had to do in your first private email to me) please book something larger and with 2 toilets in future. We would rather guests book an alternative property than to be this disappointed due to not researching the amenities, facilities and location. We realise you were extremely disappointed that we declined in refunding you, as per your demands in your email to me prior to your review, where you were wanting to pay only $180p.n for 7 guests over peak season, being 3 days over Xmas. I suggest researching the prices in peak season in and around Hobart before assuming the rate for this property was not accurate. Gypsy’s Rest is booked quite often right throughout the year and solidly through peak season and that is because it is priced how it should be in the holiday house market for this location. We, like most other “self-contained” properties leave enough items to get you started, it is then up to guests to supply the odd required items such as extra toilet paper (as it states in the compendium). Self-contained accommodation is not the same as hotel’s who restock everything and service daily. Holiday houses obviously have so much more to stock then a hotel, as we supply everything from laundry powder to kitchen items, including olive oil, cling wrap, bin liners, a variety of tea's, coffee's, hot chocolate, coffee pods for the coffee machine we supply etc. In fact, we supply a lot more items than most places. If this was unacceptable to the point of ruining your Xmas you could have contacted us and this could have been fixed very quickly. I am not sure why you did not find the shop as it is literally a 2-minute drive away, which you actually have to drive pass to get to Gypsy’s Rest (I
