Sea View Apartment in the Old Town - Air conditioning!

This beautiful, characterful apartment is located in the very heart of the Old Town of Villefranche Sur Mer. Not only is this the best position to enjoy the sea and village but the apartment also has a wonderful terrace providing unbeatable and uninterrupted views of the bay. The apartment has three large bedrooms, with bedrooms 1 & 2 equipped with comfortable king size beds and bedroom 3 with twin singles and A/C throughout the whole apartment.

The building dates back to the 1600s yet the apartment has a contemporary feel and the benefit of stone walls that keep cool in summer and warm in winter. The glass doors open back so that the whole apartment becomes an extension of the terrace.

The apartment has two large bedrooms, equipped with comfortable king-size beds and one with twin singles. There is an extra bedroom on the terrace side with another king-sized bed should you need it. This room is equipped with its own wardrobe and would be an extra charge. There are two contemporary bathrooms.

The open plan kitchen/living area provides a nice retreat from the afternoon sun whilst still allowing you to admire the bay's views. The American-style kitchen comes fully equipped for those who love to cook.

The whole apartment is at your disposal apart from a cupboard used solely for housekeeping.

Please note: There is a €270 fee for the housekeeping which is paid in cash to Julie our housekeeper on arrival.

Great location and view!

We were in Villefranche for 2 weeks and really enjoyed this apartment. The place is in the heart of the old town and has a beautiful view of the Bay of Villefranche. The apartment is very clean and the property manager (Donna) was very welcoming and accommodating.

What a beautiful apartement in the heart of old villefranche! L'artistes tresor was fantastic and I would highly recommend it in terms of location, comfort, cleanliness and friendliness.The seaviw was fantastic. Lovely restaurants, good supermarket, french bakery 10 m away. We'll come back!!

Beautiful views from spacious, lovely village apt.

One of the nicest and most relaxing stays my family and I have had in decades of travel. The gorgeous property is spacious, easily slept 5 of us, the town surrounds you and is quite beautiful. Days can be spent on the beach, in the hidden gem of the Riviera which is Villafranche or other places easily reached by train. It is up 3 flights of stairs which we did not mind, but if you have any disabilities, this could be an issue. All in all, I forgot my binoculars to watch the harbor but everything was quite wonderful. 5 star plus!!

Wonderful! I am so very fortunate to be able to offer my apartment to guests and to know they had an enjoyable holiday. That gives me pleasure. Yes bring binoculars! Plus walking shoes if you like to walk as there are some of the loveliest walks close by. See my website for more information www.villefranchevacation.com. If you have mobility issues I have other apartment options for you. However, there are steps in the Village as it is built on a hill. Either stay higher up and have even more steps to negotiate to get down and back or stay here and be close to all the restaurants, the sea and the train which is just along the road with no steps to climb. Beautiful apartment in a gorgeous location!

The apartment is gorgeous with such an amazing view of the bay. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean The apartment is spacious with two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The location is close to the beach with restaurants, bars, shops and a supermarket on your doorstep. The train station and bus stop is just a short walk away and they provide transport links to everywhere along the coast. Sue the manager is really helpful and provided us with lots of local ideas and information and also arranged our transport to and from Nice Airport. We were a party of six and had the most wonderful week in Villefranche staying at Artistes Tresor, we would definitely recommend it, truly superb!

Lovely Convenient Apartment

This was the third time we've stayed in Mattie's lovely apartment, but were amazed when she told us our last stay was twelve years ago; how time flies!!!! I can;t believe we've left it so long to return, it's so comfortable and so convenient as everything you need is right on your doorstep. When our daughter, son-in-law and two small grandchildren joined us for three days, there was plenty of room for all of us. We had a wonderful time, and even had some lovely weather, so could enjoy the amazing view from the terrace. Mattie was extremely helpful with all the arrangements, and we look forward to our next visit. Mary

Beautiful apartment, ideally located

My husband, daughter, son-in-law and two children have just arrived back from another fantastic holiday in Mattie's lovely apartment. We've stayed there numerous times over the years, the first time I think in 2003 which speaks for itself! Over the years there have been improvements, another bathroom, air-con etc. The location is perfect, in the centre of the village, close to shops, restaurants, beaches and public transport and Mattie is always a pleasure to deal with. We were met this time by a lovely lady called Heidi and provided with a welcoming bottle of fizz. The weather was beautiful, the view of Cap Ferrat amazing from the large terrace and we can't wait to go back. Mary and Geoff

An invigorating accommodation.

What a wonderful apartment! My wife and I enjoyed a week in February in this apartment. When you enter, you are wowed by the vista of the Bay of Villefranche against the background of Cap Ferrat from the light filled lounge and private terrace. The apartment was spotless, with comfortable furniture and beds, every thing you will require in the kitchen. Located in the Old Town, the bakery and local supermarket are right on your door step. The wonderful south facing sandy beach is just a 5 minute walk. My wife really enjoyed waking to the view of the ever-changing colours of the bay. This apartment has to be in the top 1% of quality accommodation in Villefranche. Thank you Mattie for an excellent experience.

This review has made my day and I am always delighted to know that a guest has been more than happy with their time here. I have alsobeen trying to encourage guests to come off season...... We get these marvellous days in winter and my terrace is perfect to catch the sun early in the mornings. The winter sunshine has been especially at it's best during January and February this year and now should continue on through March and April.. Villefranche has a micro climate so when the sun comes out it can be warm enough to sunbathe on the beach.... Hope to see you very soon in our very special corner of heaven. Mattie

Artistes Tresor, Villefranche, France

We had a wonderful extended stay at Artistes Tresor from late January to early February. The apartment is beautifully appointed with a lovely living and dining area, fully stocked modern kitchen, three comfortable bedrooms, two full bathrooms, complete laundry facilities, and a balcony with a breathtaking view. Everything from Wi-Fi to hair dryers is provided. The apartment is filled with sunlight in the morning, and at night the view along the bay twinkles as lights dance on the water. We were very comfortable in the apartment, it was quiet and very private. And we loved the location. Shops, restaurants, the train station, and the beach are just a short walk, and most areas of town are easily accessible on foot. This apartment truly is a treasure, a little piece of heaven in a magically beautiful part of the world. Thank you, Mattie for providing this amazing apartment.

Magnificent

Artiste Tresor is a fantastic apartment to live in for a vacation. Facing the mighty Meditteranian Sea, one wakes up to the Godly blue waters, calm and tranquil. A feeling only made in heaven for artists and writers. A cup of coffee on the terrace in the morning starts off the day full of romance and freshness of a world not experienced anywhere else. Nicely and sensitively decorated, this apartment enables dreams of sweetness and love. Feelings of never wanting to leave it, for it becomes part of you. I enjoyed myself living in this apartment and I will go again, if permitted by the owner. A delightful lady. Everything she said about Artiste Tresor was true to the last word. Thank you!! A TRULY AMAZING APARTMENT

We had a wonderful time made all the memorable by your beautifully appointed apartment. It was fantastic, the apartment was very spacious for a family of five and well equipped. It was like a home away from home, and given our stay was over winter the apartment was very warm. The view from the living room and balcony was unforgettable. We spent many mornings having breakfast on the balcony, and made sure we we up early to see the amazing sunrises. The location was so convenient surrounded by some lovely restaurants, a convenience shop on our doorstep, a lovely beach we were fortunate enough to have a memorable picnic on in the middle of winter, and the train station, our quick and easy link to Nice, Monte Carlo and Cannes being just a short walk away from the apartment. It was simply perfect. I would also like to thank Heidi for her warm welcome and information that help us navigate the town and the apartment with ease, and to Sue for organising the airport transfers. This is a beautiful apartment that we will be recommending to all our friends, we hope to have the opportunity to visit and stay in your apartment again. Many thanks Mattie for maintaining and sharing such a quality apartment.

Lovely holiday

Lovely location of villa - spotlessly clean and very homely. The only reason for the two four start ratings are follows: Check-In. We were unable to access the property as the cleaner was not there when we arrived - despite being promised that she would be. Also it would be easier if the individual properties had numbers. Neither were a major problem, but made check in slightly harder than it might have been. Accuracy of Online listing - the air conditioning units in the bedrooms are yet to be installed and this was disappointing; also there is no mention of the steps from the street to the property, which again was ok for us, but could be restrictive in other cases. As an observation only, (as there were only 2 of us) the property is not really set-up for 6 as advertised, There is no where for example where 6 could eat together, and it would be extremely 'cosy' if 6 wanted to relax on the balcony. These issues are only pointed out for future reference - we still had a lovely weeks break and would happily return to both the area and the property.

Check in is 3pm but as Mrs & Mrs Bridges were arriving early Julie, our manager, tried to accommodate them by asking the cleaner to let them in early. However they were late due to a slight delay with their flight so she had to leave. She did come back again but they had decided to go and have lunch. They sent a message to Julie saying “we are having a ‘lovely leisurely lunch’ and will be back at 3pm. Julie checked them in at 3pm. We did everything we could to get the guest settled before the published time so I do feel this comment is pretty unfair. I advertise my apartment for 4 guests (2 bedrooms) but we do have three bedrooms with proper beds - not sofa beds like some apartments. Most often we have four adults and perhaps a couple of little people. I have never had complaints about the terrace not being big enough even when there have been 6 people. It is rare to find a terrace this size in the old town and the patio doors fold right back expanding the size of the terrace into the living room. Stairs are mentioned in the description of the apartment and if you know Villefranche there is no avoiding stairs or steps wherever you stay.. The advantage of Artistes Tresor is that the location means access to the sea front can be step free…. We have air conditioning in the living room which is sufficient most of the year. It is difficult to install this on the village side due to local restrictions. I have several Dyson coolers and ceiling fans in the bedrooms . I was there at the end of June when it was extremely hot and found the combination of air condition and fans more than sufficient. I am grateful for all reviews and take comments very seriously. I trust future guests make up their own minds on whether comments seem reasonable. I am more than open to discuss any concerns a guest may have in order that their choice of apartment fits their requirements. A little slice of Heaven

What a little gem Artistes Tresor is! My family (me plus my husband and three teenage sons) stayed here for a week and we couldn't have been more comfortable. We really felt like part of the community .. The apartment is right in the old town on the second floor of an old building with great views over the bay. We spent hours sitting on the lovely little balcony happily watching the boats coming in and out of the bay. Tip: bring binoculars for better spying! It was an easy stroll to all the restaurants in the town and the little supermarket is almost next door! The beach is also an easy stroll along the harbour wall. And the train station is a five minute walk down the hill and gives access to lots of interesting places up and down the coast - we made day trips to Eze and Ventimiglia in Italy. The apartment is very comfortable and immaculately clean and felt like a home from home. The owner has a policy of leaving things that other guests have left so the kitchen had salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee, oil, vinegar, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs and even some foodstuffs like rice and pasta etc. I have rented lots of properties and i have never seen this before - it made such a difference not to have to go out and buy all these things! Thank you Mattie! Sue, the property manager, met us from our taxi and showed us to the apartment and gave us tips on what to do and where to eat etc. and even booked a taxi for one of our sons who had to leave earlier than us - she couldn't have been more charming or helpful. I cannot recommend Artistes Tresor highly enough!

Fabulous location, spotless and gorgeous view. Perfect rental.

Had a fabulous stay. Enjoyed the property very much. The check in was great, the property was so clean and the view was really spectacular. It is close to everything in the village. The bedrooms are quite hot without the AC ( we were there in July) and if you have a car, the nearby parking is expensive so prepare yourself. We would rent here again without a second thought. Great location and friendly hosts!

We stayed at Julie and Tim's house in Villfranche. The apt. has a great location close - It is right on the water with many restaurants right outside the door. The area is less crowded than bigger cities like Nice but easy to get to all with the train being close by. Tim and Julie were fantastic hosts - They accommodated all our requests, check was easy and they offered to set us up a ride from the airport. Highly recommend!

Fantastic stay

Have just returned from our stay and have had a great time. We were met at the taxi rank by Julie who took us to the apartment and showed us around. We were allowed to check in on arrival at 1.00pm which was an added bonus. There are lots of steps in Villefranche so it’s not somewhere to go if you have mobility issues. There are quite a few sets of steps up to the apartment but once you’re up there the view is absolutely worth it. It’s right in the middle of town in a perfect location. One of our favourite restaurants was literally straight across from the front door. The apartment is fantastic, extremely spacious, modern and very comfortable. We really couldn’t fault it. It’s quiet at night too considering the central location. The train station is on the same street as the apartment, a 5 - 10 minute walk away. From there you can go right along the French riveria and into italy. We would certainly recommend and may well return one day.

The views and comforts of home make this property worth the climb to the 3rd/4th floor. The steps are even and have handrails. The windy and gray start to March kept me from using the beautiful terrace but I enjoyed the views from the comfortable furniture inside the apartment. The appliances were easy to use and apartment manager Julie a pleasure to work with. For a family or small group of friends, having two large bathrooms are a real bonus in an old town rental. I will miss my walks to Beaulieu and St Jean Cap Ferrat. A la prochaine!

Best View on the Riviera

The apartment was spacious, comfortable and truly had a spectacular view. The location was central to Villefranche including easy access to two restaurants on our street and close proximity to several other good restaurants. The convenience of the train station made the whole area available. Julie was helpful, met us at the train, assisted us with our luggage on the stairway and answering our questions promptly.

This is a great property in a wonderful area. The beach is lovely, great restaurants and easy to get around. Less than 10 minutes on the train to Nice and 40 minutes by car to Canyon Forest which was great fun to do with teenage boys. Highly recommend.

Perfect position

We loved this perfect little gem in heart of Villefranche sur Mer. When we stepped outside the door we stepped straight in to the street where the best and cutest restaurants were. There are quite a few stairs but Julie the manager gave us a hand with the luggage so all good. We found being charged a cleaning fee separately to be unusual, we didn’t mind but it made for some last minute scrambling at the ATM. I’ve gone back on the booking forms prior to paying and can’t see any reference to the extra charges until after we’d paid. I rent Airbnb and Homeaway often in fact this year alone I’ve stayed in Oslo, Rome, San Gimignano and Paris and haven been charged for cleaning separately. Let me say it wouldn’t stop me coming back it was well worth it just unusual. The property is fabulous!

I am delighted that Ann and her party loved my apartment. . Most colleagues I know who have rentals in the area adopt the cash on arrival housekeeping fee system. I live in the UK so we ask that guests pay the fee for my staff in cash on arrival. This is NOT an extra fee but calculated in a way that means the housekeeping and manager are paid free of exchange rate or bank fees. I am always happy to answer any questions related to this. I found myself in Villefranche in 2002 for the first time. I was enchanted from the outset and saw my apartment on the same day I arrived. I decided to sell my house in London to buy it and knew that I would have to share it from time to time in order to pay for this expensive impulse. It is the best thing I have ever done. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Why they chose this property

I realised that the location and view of the sea was priceless. The uniqueness of the location and the age of the building is something that can't be replaced - it has evolved over hundreds of years. It truly is the best location in the South of France. It still retains it's charm due to the fact there are no big hotels around and about.

What makes this property unique

Being in a village is lovely with the sea a short walk away. It has everything. Restaurants, gorgeous walks, easy transport. I love to sit on my terrace watching the activity in the bay. The beautiful morning skies as the sun rises which you can see on my website. Watching the moon go down over Cap Ferrat. This is my great pleasure and relaxation in life. Sharing this with my guests keeps it all going.
