Cozy Private Studio in El Cajon

This is about a 450 sq. ft. studio with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. There are 2 TVs one in the living room and the other in the bedroom. The living room has a futon which folds out into a bed and as you enter the studio you will find a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, and a shelf with cups and mugs for the coffee, along with ground coffee. The bathroom has a shower, a toilet, and sink with a dispenser of shampoo, conditioner and soap in the shower. After 2 guests the 3rd gets a guest fee and visitors are not allowed due to Covid-19. The lock code that locks and unlocks the door is provided by the guest upon booking.

The hosts were super responsive! There is a water station, coffee pot, mini fridge and microwave, but there is no kitchen sink or oven, just an FYI. Also, there are steps to get into the VRBO. We got in late at night, so it took us a minute to realize where we needed to go:) The location is close to the expressway and very convenient to get to many places. Again, the communication with the hosts was easy and awesome!

We booked this place because we were in a pinch for last minute room and board, and it served its purpose to that end; locked door, clean bed, street parking. In hindsight, though, we would have gone with a motel.First, the check in was a little rocky. We sent a message to the host as requested to set a pin code for the door, but it wasn't clear which door we should enter with. When our first couple of tries with the first door didn't work, we tried calling the host, but they didn't respond. Someone had to physically come to the door to tell us it was the *other* side door, futher in on the property. A little awkward, but we shrugged it off as we were tired and just wanted to hunker down.The amenities were just fine, the bed was clean and the kitchenette was agreeable. Coffee maker, fridge, water cooler. The second red flag was a noticably sizable hole in the flooring right near the bed, and bits of floorboard debris were left around it. My partner remarked how they would need to watch their step. There was also a large hole in the bottom of the back door where it meets the frame, large enough for something to crawl in from the yard. We weren't expecting the Ritz Carlton or anything, so we ignored it and went to bed. When we woke up the next morning we found a cockroach under our bed. We dipped out early on account of this. We're not the type to make a fuss but we've been in contact with VRBO for a refund. If you're out of options this place is great.

Clean & comfortable, VERY quiet, even being next to freeway. I slept very well. The parking situation was less than ideal, that & the stairs I would not recommend for heart patients/elderly, anyone with balance issues. Also, the a/c did not have a control in the room as far as I could tell, but being as it's San Diego, it didn't get too hot, just a little stuffy. It was worth it for the price & sleep for me.

Very nice place

Very cute, could have comfortably stayed for an extended stay. Manager was extremely helpful. **The negatives: This place is down several steps behind/under the main house and has minimal parking in front, parking is on a hill. This property is not for someone with mobility issues.

Smaller than I imagined from the pictures. Steps are difficult to manage without a handrail especially for the balance challenged. Simple and clean.

This place needs work

Pros: It was clean Con: -AC control password protected.-TV in room had WIFI connection issues.-The door in the room had a big chunk missing out of the corner which something could easily crawl in-The floor in the room was collapsed in a had sharp pieces of wood sticking up and the bigger part of the hole was trying to be covered with a rug.-I was never given a contact person.-I was told that I would be able to park in the driveway and when I did I was asked to move and when I asked to park behind them they said NO because they had 2 other vehicles with them which in turn made me have to find parking about 1/2 a mile away and walk back.-The apt above us had a child running and stomping around late at night and very early in the morning.-No extra towels or sheets.-The one trash can had no bag in it and stunk-It did not feel very private

You did not read anything about the listing as mostly everything you are complaining about was in the property. It clearly states that you have to ask us to turn on the AC for the space and we gladly turn it on but turn it off if we notice that you have left as we dont want it running all day when nobody is there. The tv issue sometime happens as technology is the way that it is but unplugging and plugging it back in usually solves the problem or again you could have asked and we are more than happy to come and help resolve the issue. The parking is clearly stated that you park on the street where there is concrete or park on Midway Dr., which has plenty of parking and is approximately 250 ft. away not half a mile (2640 ft.). The driveway is for us, we try and save spots for guests but the parking is limited in front of the house. We have a toddler and she gets to bed by 8:30 - 9pm and sometimes she wakes up at 9- 10 but we try to keep her from running on the floor above as much as possible. There are 3 trash bags in the space. One in the bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. If you had let us know about it we would have brought you one without hesitation. It looks like you have poor communication and reading skills as you did not take the time to read our listing and what we provide as anementies. I am working on the door to fix the gap issue.

Great stay

Though we didn’t spend much time in the unit during our stay, we did enjoy our time. Accommodations were comfortable and exactly what we needed. We will be using this hosts again for our San Diego weekend trips!!

Condiments was only 1 set of towels x3. We where there 5 nights/6 days. A/C is controlled by owners. Extremely hot. Never got cool. Said couch & futon. Not comfortable at all. No where to sit comfortably. Two TV’s but nothing to watch. Didn’t watch no tv. Needs kitchen sink to wash dishes. The stairs were terrible for us. No handrail & several. Not good for elderly or handicap, plus carrying luggage up & down several steps. Bad parking. Very unhappy. Not as advertised. Hidden fees etc.

If you are looking for a place where you are only 15 min away from downtown and want to save some money, this is a great place to come.

What makes this property unique

The Trolley or train which is the city transportation is only a 2 mile walk or a 1 min drive and you can leave your car in a public parking lot right in front of the trolley if you plan on not paying for parking downtown. It can get pricey.
