About this property
Mount Snow Post and Beam House
Post and beam house, Higley Hill Lodge. Within 17 minutes of Mount Snow and 10 min to the charming village of Wilmington. Two golf courses within 15 minutes, great hiking and mountain biking nearby. Lake Raponda is about five minutes away and Harriman reservoir is about 20 minutes away. With beautiful views of Mount Snow, the house is warm and cozy and rustic yet elegant. With a wood burning stove, heated mudroom, down comforters, cathedral living room ceiling. The house sits on 10 acres of very private wooded land. Beautiful back deck with views of Mount Snow. Great house for children, the house has sleds and a great backyard for sledding. Good collection of DVDs for kids and adults.
Newly finished basement with master bedroom with king bed, bunk room with one bunkbed, one full bathroom with shower and living area with kitchenette.
There are some great restaurants/watering holes in Wilmington and in West Dover both about 10 minutes away. They have everything from family restaurants to high-end restaurants being close to a major ski area. There are two very nice lakes nearby, one just a few minutes down the road, Lake Raponda a small but very pretty lake good for swimming and the other Harriman reservoir, a much larger lake good for boating and swimming. There’s also a beautiful little reservoir at Woodford State Park, the highest campground in the state, about 25 minutes away. All the bedding is nice high thread count hundred percent cotton mostly organic and down comforters. There is no Wi-Fi or cable but the cell service is very good and a personal hotspot works well.
The house water is from a well and usually can only keep up with the demand of one shower at a time.
Only about 2 1/2 hours from Boston and Providence and an 1 hr 40 min from Hartford. And about 3 hrs 45 min from NYC.
Four-wheel-drive is recommended in the winter.

Wonderful cabin with the best property management!
Doug’s house is gorgeous and he was very communicative and helpful the entirety of our stay! Special thanks to Ryan for making sure we got out following a massive snow storm
We had an excellent stay at this large, clean ski cabin. It was well appointed and close to the slopes. Communication was easy. We really enjoyed are stay here.
Great stay in a well thought out and comfortable cottage. 3 families (6 adults, 5 kids) had a great time over New Years time, with goal of skiing at Mount Snow (15 minutes away) - so the large mudroom with plenty of coat hooks was appreciated. Douglas answered messages promptly and was very helpful in all communication. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. NOTE: pets are allowed, so there is pet hair around the cottage, even though the cottage was clean when we arrived.
We enjoy the house, it is in a great location near everything; Mount Snow, Dover, Willmington.
We miss the wi-fi and the TV at night but we were ok. We love this house.

Thanks you Carmen, I’m so glad you enjoyed the house!
We had an amazing stay at Doug's gorgeous cabin for our New Years Eve vacation! There were so many thoughtful touches, like slippers for everyone! The property is so close to Mt Snow and so many other restaurants, it was the perfect spot! We'd love to return again soon!
Beautiful.home, open living space, great location for skiing at mt..snow. wet, rainy weather made driveway ride to the home very muddy. Communication with the owner, Doug, was easy and he was very accommodating. Furniture is dated and some mattresses need replacing.
Firstly the communication with the owner is the best we have had from a VRBO rental and we have rented a bunch, super responsive and detailed. The property itself is rustic, newly renovated and spacious. Easy 15 min drive to Mount Snow, which and the market at the bottom of the road the house is on is perfect to stock up on groceries. The only nit we had was no WiFi and sport (for us) cell service, with 5 children (4 teenagers) we could have used WiFi. Overall we would highly recommend!

Thank you very much for your kind review John! Very glad you enjoyed the house! It’s been difficult to get Wi-Fi in our location, but I think things are changing, I will look into it. Happy new year! Doug
Beautiful, private home down a long shared drive. The photos don’t do this home justice! Updated, and clean inside. Covered porch in the back is perfect for your morning coffee, overlooking the view. Doug was responsive, and helpful. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat this home is perfect!
Beautiful scenery, very quiet and relaxing . The property was as advertised. If we ever make it to Vermont again we will most certainly look at renting this property again.
Doug's place comes as described. It is clean and welcoming. Everything you need is available and in working order. We rented the place with family for a nearby wedding and this was a great base camp.
This is a beautiful new property. The view of Mt. Snow is breathtaking! We could see the trails being groomed in the early morning. The house is impeccably decorated with a mix of old and new furnishings and is very comfortable. We had 11 people from age 11 through adult and all were happy. You really feel like you're off the grid in this house, but it is still close to modern conveniences and ski slopes. We were congnizant of conserving water as per host instructions, but never had a problem, even with a houseful of teenagers. The recommendation of having 4WD or AWD vehicles is absolutely necessary. I wouldn't want to attempt the local road or driveway without. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year!
Super private cabin with everything you need plus the luxury of staying in a newly built home. Comfortable stay, responsive owner, and convenient for a Mt Snow ski trip. Hiking trails, sledding and a firepit during our day off! Great trip!!
Beautiful Vermont Home Short Distance from Restaurants and Activities
This home is new, clean, and beautifully decorated with cozy furniture and rustic decor. It is set in the mountains on a picturesque lot with a view of Mt. Snow. There is great outdoor space, including outdoor seating and a grill on the deck, as well as a fire pit. Very private but less than 10 minutes to restaurants, breweries, shopping, antique shops, and quaint towns to explore. We had a wonderful time and loved the house! The owner was very responsive and answered all of our questions about the house and surrounding area. We can’t wait to go back.

Doug
The house was beautiful inside and out with plenty of open space and beautiful views. A very private and quiet mountain top retreat for our family which was very much needed and appreciated. The home is fully stocked with all linens, utensils, etc. necessary for a comfortable stay. Doug was very responsive to questions before our arrival. Would definitely stay here again and wish we could have stayed longer!
The house is brand new, and the porch has wonderful views of the mountains. Bathrooms were spacious and the showers were big. We spent most of our time on the front porch, listening to the birds and star gazing. I wanted to stay longer!!
An amazing property that was perfect for our extended family. The home is beautiful and updated yet secluded with lots of privacy. The downstairs was perfect for my wife and three young kids as there was a place to lounge with a kitchenette, enjoying the early morning while not waking up others!
Doug was very easy to communicate with which made the process both smooth and welcoming.
We plan on coming back!
A beautiful home located off the beaten path and surrounded by the beauty of the Vermont mountains. Hard to say which was better, the inside or out! 10/10 would stay again and looking forward to doing so for some skiing this winter!
The cabin is beautifully built and furnished with quality and care. The beds were so comfortable and the showers were very nice. We had children and adults, and all were comfortable. We all soaked it in. Took a swim at lake raponda and walked around in Wilmington. Cooked food in the kitchen and sat around the fire. We had everything we needed and would come back any day. Owner was very communicative. Thanks for a great stay!
