Beautiful views out the front of the house across the lake, extremely tranquil, and was the perfect place for our small group. Hot tub was great also! Really quiet, felt like we were out there on our own.

We had a great spring break! The road was quiet and felt very safe. Internet was fast and had no problem connecting to work meetings from the porch. There are multiple houses for rent in a row which would make for a great family reunion or vacation with tons of friends. Host couldn't have been nicer and quick/proactive with communication and checking in before/during our stay.

Excellent stay!

We had a great time at this comfortable, well-equipped house right on Claytor Lake. The hot tub area was excellent and provided lots of fun in post-graduation rainy weather, and the many decks and eating areas really added to the coziness and convenience. Would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing getaway.

Such a wonderful place to slow down and breathe. Beautiful views right at your door! The cottage is well maintained, clean, and comfy. The hosts really thought of the little things and are super responsive if you need anything.

Cozy cottage in a serene setting

My family had a beautiful long weekend at Claytor Lake. Green Cape Cottage is clean, comfortable and has everything you will need for a home away from home. We loved being on the water and close to the state parks and hiking trails. We will definitely be back!

VT Graduation

Beautiful cottage on Claytor Lake was perfect setting for family of 5 adults to celebrate Virginia Tech Graduation. Cottage has everything needed for a stay on the lake. Beautifully renovated, well stocked, perfect place for our family to gather to celebrate.

Great get-a-way!

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was exactly as depicted in the listing. The host is an excellent communicator. The neighbors are friendly and it’s very private. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming and fishing off the dock. The cottage was cozy and had virtually everything we needed. We would absolutely recommend this stay!

Peaceful Lake Cottage

Recommended. Cute, well appointed cottage lake front with small swimming dock. Located in a remote and private enclave. Swimming was great. Good fishing. Nice lake views and lots of peace and quiet. Huge private hot tub a plus. The host could not have been nicer.

Spring Break

We had a wonderful stay. A quick 3 night stay after picking up our daughter at Virginia Tech. It was the perfect size for my family of 5. Even though the lake water was cold, it didn’t stop us from having our cold plunge or getting the kayak out. The hot tub easily took the chill away. The house had a wonderful view of the lake. It was very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here.

VCOM graduation

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our daughter's graduation from VCOM. We rented both Claytor Escape and Green Cape Cottage. We enjoyed the kayak, paddle boards and swimming off the dock. The house was clean and well-stocked. Check in was easy and the host was very responsive. And - the front porch of Claytor Escape is wonderful!

Great location and adorable cottage

My family spent 6 days at the cottage. Chris was very responsive as we had several questions throughout the planning process. He did everything to make our stay comfortable. The location of the cottage was perfect and the neighbors are friendly and very welcoming. The cottage was very clean, adorably decorated and the beds being extremely comfortable was a plus. It was the perfect getaway to unplug and enjoy time with family. I highly recommend a trip to Green Cottage!

Cozy lake cottage

Chris is a fantastic host who quickly replies and offers things before you can even ask. The house was spotlessly clean, as described and all furniture was super comfy and nice. Perfect place to relax, and enjoy the views, fire pit, and hot tub- then hit repeat for days! If you like dogs, be sure to meet sweet Maggie and Molly that live down the street. I have already recommended this cottage to friends. Thanks Chris for working with us on our arrival time and out countless questions.

Tucked-away paradise

Perfect for us - quaint neighborhood setting on a private part of the lake. Swam off the dock a lot. Paddled down by the sandbar, which hosts beavers and otters and birds. Watched the osprey dive for fish in the lake. Checked out the outcroppings on the far bank. Took evening walks along the lakeside down the private lane. Serene, beautiful, fun stuff. Nice lake views from the house - upstairs and down. Everything was neat and clean and well-appointed. Host was available and helpful and friendly.

Wonderful house with amazing views

We had a wonderful time at Green Cape Cottage. The views are amazing, the house is comfy and well stocked. The hot tub is one of the most therapeutic I have experienced. My only suggestion is to update the cookware with stainless steel. The pots and pans are Teflon and are very scratched up, which makes them a health hazard. Teflon is a forever chemical and scratched pans should never be used because you end up ingesting the Teflon and it never leaves your system. We brought our own pan because we have experienced the same thing at other rentals.
