Swim, Fish & Unwind at Sandy Bay
Set amongst native bush with beautiful views across Kenepuru Sound towards Mt Stokes, this comfortable three-bedroom, two-bathroom holiday home is made for easy days by the water.
Swim, paddleboard or kayak in the calm bay, bring the boat and spend the day fishing, explore nearby walking and mountain biking tracks, or simply settle in on the deck and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Sounds.
The house has drive-on access, plenty of room to park a boat and a handy wash-down area. Outside, a large fully enclosed private deck has an oversized BBQ table — a great spot for long lunches, family dinners and evenings overlooking the water.
A short walk from the house takes you down to a sheltered bay ideal for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking. Boats can also be launched here with a 4WD, and a mooring and dinghy are available for guests to use.
Sleeping arrangements The house comfortably suits families or small groups: Master bedroom: Queen bed with ensuite. This room is separate from the main house and located at the far end of the deck. Sandy Bay is a great base for exploring this quieter area of the Sounds. Around 10km from Portage Approximately 60 minutes from Linkwater Access the Queen Charlotte Track from Torea/Portage or Punga Cove Mt Stokes walking track access is nearby Multiple mountain-bike access points to the Queen Charlotte Track along Kenepuru Road For longer stays, groceries can also be delivered by rural delivery or arranged by boat to Punga or Torea wharf.
A few things to know This is a genuinely remote Marlborough Sounds getaway, so there are no shops just around the corner. We recommend arriving with your food, drinks and other supplies so you can settle in and enjoy your stay. Like many properties in the Sounds, occasional short power cuts can happen during bad weather.
