The location and neighborhood was great. The property is very tired. Much updating needs to be done. Televisions were difficult to operate, batteries bad in controls. Some lightbulbs out, not all light switches worked, shower curtains should be replaced, patio tiles and front steps need work. We enjoyed our stay but felt we paid top dollar for a second class place.
We rented this house for April vacation. The check in process was super easy. The layout of house was great. Several entrances to the pool area so easy access from any point in the house. It worked very well for my family- My kids are old enough that I can trust them with access to the pool. I would not have felt comfortable if they were much younger as the locks to open the screen doors to the pool are easy to manipulate ( push button) and there’s nothing stopping a child from getting into the pool if they open the door. I saw a sting ray swimming in the canal one day which was a thrill. We liked having the master separate from the other bedrooms and having access to the pool area from the room.
The location is wonderful. Walking distance to mini golf, the beach, restaurants. My husband would drive us down the street to the public access point of the beach, then he would go back and do the 12 min walk to meet us.
I think with a little investment it would make a better impression in terms of the condition of the home amenities/items. Things such as the couch was pretty worn and the cushions looked dirty so we just threw a sheet on it, a dining room chair was completely broken , moldy shower liner, the kitchen mat was tinted brown with dirt, the tables outside were rusted and flaking off, walls were dirty in some rooms…All replaceable/solvable items. We called about the shower liner and they were so prompt to replace it. One drawback was lack of beach amenities.. We called the rental company about beach chairs and they brought us 4 camp chairs. We did go to the beach with the camp chairs, but when you would like to sit back and read a book or relax, a camp style chair isn’t conducive to the activities. We found an alternative to rent chairs at the beach which was quite pricey, but very comfortable. This house really needs a beach wagon so you can take advantage of the proximity to the beach. So the house location and layout were wonderful, amenities were disappointing for the price as we paid a premium for the week, and the island itself was an awesome experience.

Good location not a great property
This was a mixed bag for our family. The home was a disappointment, with the exception of the pool. The home and property was in poor overall condition. It stands out in the neighborhood for the wrong reasons. It smelled strongly of urine (ammonia) the whole trip and had a number of basic things that were not in working condition that should have been. As evidenced in a previous review by another tenant the management company new of at least the issues raised by them. Based on the managements public response one would have thought they were addressed. They were not. Many light bulbs were burned out in the home, furniture was in disrepair, blinds likewise, bathroom door wouldn’t close (sliding) cable Tv doesn’t work in the bedroom, saying nothing of the overall tired condition of the home. The pool and location were the only saving grace. The dock is in poor condition and is dangerous. While the price was reasonable the old adage you get what you paid for more than holds true here. The property management did send a repair man who repaired the bathroom door and said he was going to be back to fix the patio lights and fans but never returned. The repair man said it looked as though the filter had never been changed and was surprised by the condition and smell of the home. I wouldn’t recommend this property.
