Ten of us fit perfectly. The inside of the house is very nice and has been updated. Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen. Very roomy, great location on the beach. The outside of the house and grounds could use some maintenance. Plenty of beach towels and beach chairs are provided. Would definitely stay here again.

Fun Family Time!
This property and location worked out beautifully for our family. Plenty of bedrooms and spacious kitchen and living room to accommodate everyone. The sun room was very nice to sit in and enjoy the breeze from the outside if you preferred. The private beach area was very nice and the extra beach chairs at the house was a nice touch. It would have been nice to have available a local channel on the TV to check on the weather and local news. There are a ton of steps from street to beach so be prepared to get your steps in. The lower deck was a favorite spot to sit and watch the sunsets. We would definitely book this property again.
We had a great stay. Eight adults stayed at the house. We had plenty of room and the house was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen because we like to cook.
Wonderful home, old Michigan feel, with updated kitchen and bathrooms. Magnificent views, fabulous location. We enjoyed the local attractions from the local hot dog stand (The Barrel), to shops and restaurants, Dune Ride and Salmon fishing (caught 7 King Salmon with Capt Eric). Most of all loved relaxing on the beach and watching the sunsets.
Our family had the most wonderful stay at this awesome Lake Michigan home. It was the perfect setting for a vacation with our three generations together. The spacious, open kitchen and family room quickly became the heart of our time there. We shared meals, played games, laughed, and made memories that we'll cherish forever. The sun porch was another favorite spot—a peaceful place to relax with a cup of coffee, enjoy conversations, and listen to the soothing sounds of the lake.Every bedroom was comfortable and worked perfectly for our family's needs, making it easy for everyone to feel at home. The location truly couldn't have been better. Being right on Lake Michigan was incredible, and having the town just an easy walk away made it so convenient. One of the unexpected highlights of our stay was meeting Marty on the beach. She generously shared the fascinating history of the house, how it has evolved over the years, and the stories woven into its walls. Learning about the area's history—and especially the remarkable women of the family who forged new paths with their strength, intelligence, and determination—made our stay even more meaningful. Knowing of all of the steps involved in both getting to the house and getting to the beach was helpful to know before arriving. We couldn't have asked for a better place to gather as a family!
We enjoyed walking on the beach, swimming and playing in the sand.
Spacious home great for a large family gathering.
We could walk to local coffee shop, library, park and downtown Douglas.
Scott was very responsive and promptly helped with all our needs and requests for early checkin and late checkout!! Had enough beds for our party of 15 including 5 kids!! Loved the lake view.
The house was very roomy for the 10 of us. The beach was fantastic. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment. The furniture was in good condition.Lots of stairs to get to the house and beach. Not suitable for the disabled. They did warn us about the stairs!

Great family getaway!
The entire family enjoyed the weekend at the Douglas home. The home was well-suited for our family needs. Plenty of bedrooms and nicely stocked kitchen. The home is very well cared for with new furniture in the family room and recovered cushions and pillows on the porch. Kids and adults alike, had a lot of fun down on the beach! In addition to the beach toys we brought, it was nice to be able to use some of the items the owners had down in the beach house. Thanks for a great weekend! We would rent this property again!

Spacious home with Amazing location!
This location was incredible. It is close enough to local businesses but far enough off the public area that the private beach access was incredible. There were many beach chairs to use. Watching the sunset off the lower deck is a must. My only complaint is the softness of the king beds - but that is just a personal preference! Great space for a large family vacation! As described in the listing, there are many stairs - but they were far less daunting than the pictures may imply. 100/10 recommend.
Everything was excellent but you need to get a bigger screen tv for the sitting area. It was too small for the price of 1000 per nite that people are paying to stay there.
BTW I would like to rent it again Wednesday to Sunday 2 days after Labor Day 2024. May I make a reservation now? Dave

Summer beach stay
The location was amazing. The property has its own private beach on the shore of Lake MI and has beach toys, floaties, and beach chairs available. The house is a nice size with comfortable beds. It's a rather old property and could be kept up better, but was fine for what we needed. There is no AT&T cell service along the lake in this neighborhood, but the house has WiFi as listed. Bring your own shampoo and bath soap. They do supply hand soap, dish and laundry detergent and abundant towels (for the beach and bathing). We'd return!
The property was just right for us. The owner/property manager was very friendly and greeted us upon our arrival and shared helpful and interesting info about the beach house. It is cozy yet spacious and open. The large kitchen was well stocked. My six full-of-energy grandchildren (ages 4-15) had room to play games and have fun during a rainy morning. The antique pump organ works and was really fun for my musical little ones! The beds were comfortable and the bedding was very nice.
The beach is great for relaxing, playing, kite flying and a nice walk to Oval Beach. Be aware that there are about 80 steps down to the beach.
Overall the stay was good with our focus on the lake and surrounding area to explore.
There was ample sleeping space for 11 people. The bedrooms are fine, older furniture with new mattresses. No need to modify these spaces.
The main living space needs the following: new coach and chairs, new kitchen table and chairs, new TV. All of these items are quite dated and, regarding the furniture, dirty/dingy. We spent time around the table with the benches but not the table with the dirty fabric chairs. The indoor/outdoor space off the first floor also needs new cushions on the coach, no one wants to sit on dirty cushions.

Great location and wonderful porch and deck spaces on the lakefront.
Fantastic home and the beach was perfection. Only gripe I have is one of the neighbors obviously had an issue with the house being rented out. Despite us staying off of their property (aside from my 6yo boys playing near the water in front of their property one morning) the neighbors made a point to put signs and ropes for people to stay off of the beach in front of the home while we were outside watching them. This made the last couple of days uncomfortable and stressful as we were constantly worried about the kids walking onto their beach. Perhaps the home should be advertised for groups without kids. If you have kids, especially younger ones, you know asking them to stay on a sliver of sandy beach is next to impossible. The home was just as expected and we had an excellent time despite this. Thank you to the hosts for allowing us to use their home. We love Douglas and cannot wait to return. Will likely be renting a different home next time however.
Grandparents, 5 adult children and 5 teenage grandchildren and this house was comfortable for all of us, however if stairs are a problem for you this is not the place for you - there are alot of them. We loved being right on the beach and spent alot of time there.
We were here for a memorial service in Holland. This time was precious therapy. Two unbelievable sunsets, walks on the beach, time with our adult kids, hanging out on layers of decking. Two even found inflatables and went in the water...45°. Good Michigan stock.
This was a horrible stay. The AC didn’t work but they didn’t tell us until I asked. They said maybe open a window. I couldn’t find the parking and they were Rude when I called.
The dishwasher, oven, and Refrigerator didn’t work and our food in the freezer spoiled.
The steps to the beach were started to come apart and the lights didn’t work.
I would never stay here!
