About this property

Sprawling Rustic-Lux Home on Golf Course, Steps to Town Center & Ski Shuttle

Ideal for guests seeking a tranquil retreat in the heart of Big Sky, Hobbit House offers a private escape with easy access to restaurants, shops, entertainment and endless outdoor adventures, from golf to skiing.

The 5-bedroom home lies on the 16th hole of the Big Sky Golf Course, a short walk from Town Center and the free ski shuttle, with direct access to miles of Nordic trails in the winter. Drive to the base of Big Sky Resort, hiking trails, fly-fishing streams and parks in less than 15 minutes.

Converted from an old ranch house into a rustic-luxury lodge, complete with local natural timbers and stone fireplaces, Hobbit House also inspires leisurely days at home, spent curled up by the wood-burning fireplace or enjoying a drink on the patio, which overlooks the golf course. Modern bathrooms, radiant heat and a home theatre system add contemporary amenities to the home’s Old West ambience.

In the cozy great room, a massive picture window reveals mountain views and grounds lined with evergreen trees, while two leather armchairs and a full-length sofa invite guests to gather by the fireplace.

This room opens onto the gourmet kitchen, which boasts stainless steel appliances, stone countertops and a charming sitting area with a gas fireplace. Between a 6-seat dining table and 5 additional seats at the breakfast bar, you can easily host large family dinners.

After dinner, head downstairs to the game room for a friendly game of billiards or foosball, or a movie on the home theatre system. The lower level also features a washer and dryer for convenience, and one of the home’s guest rooms. Between the five spacious suites, Hobbit House comfortably sleeps up to 11 guests:

Great location, super cute house!
Great house for a group! Amazing location near town. Kitchen had everything we needed and great space for socializing. A few things on the listing weren’t correct (mainly there isn’t a hot tub and one of the bed configurations wasn’t correct) but the hosts were quick to apologize and said they would try to resolve the listing. Very communicative and made everything easy. Wish check in was earlier but they made check out as easy as possible!

Perfect location and house
We decided to stay at the Hobbit House for our annual friend ski/snowboard trip. None of us had been to Big Sky before so didn’t know much but this ended up being the best location ever! We were within a 10-12 min drive of the mountain and then only a 4-5 minute walk to the town center which was so much fun to have close by. We were so happy that we chose this location over others closer to the mountain base. We had access to bars, restaurants (go to Thai Basil!), and grocery stores. We walked here every night to either go out or pick up dinner to bring back. In addition, the house fit us all perfectly and had so much character. It’s a great location for friend group or family, plenty of room for family style dinners!! Overall, every guest was so happy with this house for all the reasons mentioned above and we will definitely be coming back!

Enjoyable Winter Family Stay
Over the top rustic, but well appointed and designed with a practical layout. Open living/dining area, small kitchen, bedrooms spread over different parts of the house, and a separate but convenient game room with lots of activities (pool, ping pong, foosball, and board games). Plenty of firewood, dishes and toiletries. For a family of 5 for 4 nights, we only needed to buy food and drinks. It is conveniently located for access to the mountain activities and town center. We all really enjoyed this house. The management company, including access, answering questions, “checking out”, etc. was fantastic to deal with.

Favorite Cabin
This is my absolute favorite place to stay in Big Sky. It's rustic interior and proximity to downtown make it the perfect mountain getaway.

Great layout and location.
The house worked very well for my family vacation. Every bedroom, except one has a bathroom. There are two separate living areas, which works really well for a large group. The location was ideal for walking to restaurants, music in the park and the farmers market.
