Our beautiful one-acre lush tropical paradise is located south of Hilo and near Kea'au and Pahoa Villages in the rainforest..
The one -bedroom downstairs apartment has unique lava walls. Follow sidewalks to Tropical gardens at back of house,coconut palms, orchids , anthuriums and lush tropical plants.
A piece of paradise to call home while you are on the Big Island. Go to sleep with frogs chirping and stars so bright you could almost touch them. Wake up to birds singing and complimentary Hawaiian coffee . Pamper yourself, shower in our collected rainwater.
Automatic quotes for 2 bedroom are for 1-2 guests/ additional guest $10 pr night per guest
We live on property behind the rental.
Please read house rules in apt. It is customary to remove shoes upon entering the apt.

We are in a residential/rural neighborhood 20 minutes from the Hilo Airport.

The unit is spacious with everything we need. We especially like the toilet is in the bedroom, separate from the bathroom. The only improvement we Suggest is the pillows need to be replaced. But the owner may have planned it already so you may have the new pillows after our stay!

This was our second year in a row staying at the Lava apartment and we hope to be back for a third next year. Island themed, clean, roomy and comfortable with all the amenities you could ask for. Great hosts as well!

What a wonderful "home base" on the Puna Coast!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The place is wonderful - the antithesis of cookie-cutter vacation rentals with lovely art and aesthetic flair. It's well equipped and maximizes the use of space. Highly recommended - we'll be back!

Great place, kinda funky, well equipped kitchen. Awesome little deck area with table and chairs. Snorkels and masks and fins and floats available. Easy access to beautiful cliffs for wave watching. Nice grounds with flowers and trees, Hawaiian setting.. We stayed 3 different places and this was the best and also most affordable.

Great apartment!

Great little apartment with amenities. Jim and Kepi gave us insight on local happenings which were fun to attend! There was also snorkeling gear, boogie boards, cooler, chairs and an umbrella available for use! Over all great stay!

A bit funky but a nice place.

One bedroom with the toilet room in the bedroom and the shower/sink off the kitchen. But it's rural, in a nice neighborhood, and the owner (the one we met) is very friendly. The place has a good low-key feeling. I would gladly stay there again.
