About this property
Music City Roost~Nashville Style~ 10 min from Downtown & Music Row!~
A brand new renovation in 2016, this historic bungalow is minutes from downtown and the airport, but tucked away on a tree lined street in a hot & rapidly gentrifying neighborhood called Woodbine, a local insider secret. Many consider it the "New East Nashville" and the values in this area have doubled over the last couple of years, as the demand for areas close to downtown has exploded. The neighborhood is a mix of vintage homes, and new infill construction and development.
Nashville Music City Roost has been lovingly restored and decorated by the owner--call it relaxed elegance—a cool vibe but never stuffy. It offers such features as original hardwood floors, french doors, custom African Rhino barn wood tile, new bathrooms and an updated vintage kitchen. It is run by owner/operators Marsha and John, who spent years in the Nashville music scene as a songwriter and artist manager respectively. The retro interior represents a throwback to a different time, while embracing the new Nashville as one of the hottest destinations in the country. Call it Urban Cowboy meets West Elm!
When you stay in our cottage and come back home from the action of downtown or seeing the sights of Nashville, you can truly relax in the living room and read, write, work on your computer (with Wi-Fi provided) or watch TV. You can hang out in the dining room right off the open kitchen that is surrounded by a wall of pretty windows and is bright and sunny in the daytime. During your stay don't miss the local art from Nashville and Memphis, and the antiques from all over the USA, that are part of the furnishings of this home. We are stocked w/everything you'll need to make your stay the most comfortable. There are new and vintage iron beds with brand new mattresses & box springs, two sets of sheets, blankets and fully stocked with fresh towels, an iron, ironing board and blow dryer all for your comfort. The kitchen has a full array of coffee, herbal & black teas, coffee maker, creamers, sugar & Stevia. Kitchen is also stocked with plates, cutlery, glasses, wine glasses, napkins, pots and pans & everything else you would need if you want to hang in one evening or gorgeous afternoon, instead of eating out. There is a large lush backyard with a deck, table & chairs for outdoor dining, extra seating & lighting & a fire pit with fire logs provided. There are a great set of plastic dishware in the open shelves in the kitchen if you decide to dine outside.
Use this dwelling place as the home base for your trip with a quick Uber or Lyft ride downtown, or a retreat to unplug if that’s what you need. Relax in the open and comfortable interior spaces, dine outside on the deck under outdoor lights, or sit and sip by the outdoor fire pit. Venture out to the local restaurants in this diverse ethnic food scene, hop downtown or visit the Nashville Zoo.
We are personally committed to making your stay the best. If you need me, I am just a cell phone call or text away, anytime during your stay, and I pride myself on the personal touches and service that will set us apart. We know you have many options in Music City/Nashville, and we want to be at the top of your list each time you visit. We love this home so much, and we sincerely hope you will love it too! ~Marsha

About the host
Hosted by Marsha Mauney

John spent 35 years in show biz, working with such great songwriters and artists as Steve Earle, Carlene Carter, Joy Lynn White and Ricky Van Shelton. In the latter years of his business he was involved in the Hip Hop business managing an act in New York. Marsha has been a singer/songwriter who came to town from Virginia. She and her band Tattoo Tribe, were signed to an independent label and toured the east coast. She currently invests in real estate, flips homes and works with buyers and sellers.
Why they chose this property
This is not your typical short term rental, that smells of plug ins and is furnished from big box discount stores (not that there is anything wrong with that--there is a place for everything)! It was designed and renovated by Marsha and John with their vision. They were committed to keeping as much of the vintage charm as possible, but mixed it with new light fixtures and other features to give it an eclectic flair. The furnishings were hand picked during Marsha's travels up through the mountains of Tennessee and Virginia, and also from her mother's collection, which was inspired by 50 plus years in the Antiques and Fine Art business. You will a Dorothy Draper Lucite magazine rack, primitive painted pieces of furniture and local Tennessee art and paintings. There are also new pieces, such as the sofa, coffee table and bed for comfort and practical purposes.
What makes this property unique
An adorable front porch with comfortable wicker chairs where you can sit and sip your drinks in the evening, or your coffee in the morning. The front bedroom is the Americana room, with handmade quilts, a brand new queen bed with comfy mattress, a daybed for extra sleeping, a Ralph Lauren vintage wicker dresser and other vintage collectibles and art. The Glamour Room is the other bedroom full of old Hollywood comfort and luxury. The large backyard is private, and has a dining table and chairs for outdoor dining on the rear deck, extra seating, and a fire pit for night time relaxing after long days downtown. Notice the little touches like the window box on the garage made with an old vintage window and the vintage RCA dog bell by the garage door.
