Groveland is a nice little town in a beautiful part of California. There is a great grocery store and one of the best ice cream shops we have found anywhere, and everyone was so nice. The Pine Mountain Lake community properties allow access to the beach and swimming pool and other amenities for a small fee for visitors. The golf course is beautiful, challenging, and open to the public, but registered visitors get a discount.
Yosemite National Park is a short 30-40 minute trip from PML, and really, once you navigate the smooth but very curvy roads up to Groveland, not a bad drive at all; we spent 2 full days there and could have spent more. We also drove to Sequoia National Park, which was a 4+ hour drive due to traffic in Fresno, so we didn't get to spend as much time there as we expected, but both parks are spectacular and presented amazing experiences for us and our children to hike in some of the highest mountains in the US and see the largest trees in the world.
As for the house, it is a bit older than the impression we got from the listing photos, but it is spacious and everything works. The beds and furniture are all very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We cooked most of our meals at the house and it worked well for us. The owners are great and responded quickly to all of our questions. We have rented many places on Vrbo, and this house rates a 4.5 out of 5, but 5 out of 5 for our overall experience.
