The Hemlock House is a newly remodeled home with beautiful views overlooking Swan Lake with the pristine Sister's Mountains in the background. The house sits on a large lot giving visitors privacy, while still having room to enjoy all the outdoor time you want! The Hemlock House is centrally located in town with restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, activities and more located within walking distance. The location is so ideal that many will find it easy to get around without renting a car. The single story home has two bedrooms both with queen size beds. The spacious living room also has a trundle couch, allowing for two twins or one queen size sleeping setup. There are two large bathrooms as well as a washer and dryer in the hallway. The kitchen is fully stocked and the outdoor patio has a BBQ a seating area for six.

Great Place!

The house is lovely and very comfortable! Had everything we needed and then some. I love the wall of windows looking out at the lake and mountains. Fabulous! Having the use of the vehicle was a nice bonus. Owners are great to work with. Would absolutely stay there again.

Scenic and close to town

This is a perfect location for town events. The views of the mountains and lake were spectacular. It is close to a road, but due to the quality windows you rarely hear cars. Cute update and everything you need. There are no steps, perfect for families too.

Exceeded expectations!

Our family of 4, including a 12 and 10 year old, had a fantastic 8-night stay at the Hemlock House. The house exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect, the newly remodeled design was clean and inviting, and the inclusion of a SUV was invaluable for getting to and from the airport and to hiking trails around Sitka. We hope to return to Sitka for more fishing and outdoor adventures and would love to call the Hemlock House our headquarters on future visits. Thank you!

Perfect Sitka Getaway!

This beautiful home was perfect for our family and the bonus was it came with a car to use during our stay! Hosts were wonderful to work with and had the car waiting for us at the ferry and we were able to leave it at the airport for our departure. 5-star service! The house was decorated with lots of style and we loved all the Alaskan touches! The view of Swan Lake was amazing from the house and there was a big yard and patio area to enjoy as well! All the amenities such as coffee and laundry made things feel right at home. We have friends that live in Sitka and we would definitely stay at this house again and our friends there will be recommending to their family and friends as well!

Awesome time in Sitka

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sitka for a recent 4-day weekend. The location of the home allows for a 5-10 minute walk to shops, coffee and the heart of Sitka. Also about 2-3 blocks from a nice grocery/liquor store. The home was extremely well done when previously renovated, rooms were of nice size, appointed well, living room had plenty of seating. Home looked new and well maintained. Grille and outdoor seating were also welcomed additions. Check-in/out process was simple & easy. Can't say enough good about the house. Loved the town of Sitka and really enjoyed the accommodations, thank you again. Brent & Cari - Eagle River, AK

Cozy house with beautiful view

Hemlock House was perfect for my stay in Sitka. The house is cozy, beautifully updated and well appointed. Great view of the lake and mountains. Easy ride or walk to town. Nice backyard for children to play. I enjoyed the covered outside patio and backyard deck for morning tea. Paula and Steve were wonderful hosts. Thank you for sharing Hemlock House and the use of a vehicle for my entire stay, which was a great surprise and beyond useful for carting groceries and the grandkids.

The Hemlock House - Alaskan Adventure

Adorable property, close to town, groceries, marina and more. Clean, well stocked, accomodating furnishings and seating for the whole family. Host/Hostess VERY accomodating w/ car arrangments for us to have the car upon arrival and we were able to leave it at the airport at departure. They even provided a dog crate for an unexpected granddog that came along the trip! Highly recommend, we felt right at home.

Hemlock House Happiness!

What a wonderful experience at Hemlock House! We spent 9 nights in this well-stocked, very clean property. We were two older couples, but I can see this as a place for all ages. The house is very well located for walking to downtown Sitka and Totem Park. The car provided with the house allows one to venture out and explore Starrigavan, Whale Park, the bear sanctuary, the Raptor Center, and much more. We enjoyed the beautiful view of Swan Lake in this quiet neighborhood. Thanks, Paula and Steve, for making our stay so enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hemlock house, taking in the view of Swan lake with the snow-capped mountains in the background, having a covered patio, and open deck/lawn area, ...beds were super comfortable (even the trundle bed!), place was very clean, full size w/d, ...amidst tasteful & practical decor. Having the car as part of the package was extremely handy. So many thoughtful provisions considered - even bear spray! Loved it!

Perfect Location, Beautiful Property!

We spent several weeks in Sitka visiting family and welcoming our newest little family member. Paula and Steve were amazing hosts. The property is immaculate and is extremely well stocked. We were able to host our Sitka family members for dinner and had every kitchen item we could possibly need for both cooking and baking. We can’t wait for our next visit and the opportunity to enjoy this perfect spot!

Had a great stay with friends and family here. Very clean, nice floor plan. Use of vehicle was bonus and within 2-4 minutes of just about everything. Will return and be happy to stay again. Very nice and attentive property managers.

Clean & Well-Decorated Home Close to Downtown

This was an ideal spot for our family of four. We traveled to Sitka for a short break from the boredom of the pandemic. A lot of places in town were closed, so we spent more time than we normally would have in the house. It was a comfortable and fun place to nest. The kids enjoyed playing in the yard and we enjoyed watching a movie and a bottle of wine when they were asleep! We cooked several meals in the home - the kitchen was well-stocked and everything was very clean. Steve & Paula did a great job responding to our needs and answering questions. One of the best features about this property is that it came with a vehicle. You really don't need one in a town the size of Sitka, but it made it super convenient when we needed to get around. We will be back to Sitka in the near future and we would definitely stay here again.

Sitka Stay

My kids and I had a great 3 week stay in Sitka. The house was perfect for our family, had all the amenities and the location is awesome - everything in Sitka was accesible by walking - and the added convenience of having a car during our stay was also a real plus for getting groceries and accessing some great hikes. Paula and Steve were great to work with and communication was quick and easy. We will rent the Hemlock house again during our next visit.

Trip of a lifetime

We were a family of 5 in Sitka for a week long stay at the end of August. Such a cute, wonderfully redone, wonderfully decorated home away from home! The view our back was beautiful! We had everything we needed to make it extremely comfortable. We walked into town most days but the added bonus of the car took us to 3 different hiking trails and beyond! Communication with Paula and Steve was a breeze. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Charming and Convenient!

We stayed here for several days prior to leaving on a cruise so we could experience Sitka. So convenient to town - truly within walking distance. Very nicely renovated, spacious, and quiet. The use of the car was GREAT for visiting the sights out of town. Homeowner couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat..

Beautiful stay in Sitka

Our stay at the Hemlock house was perfect. It is a beautiful bright house with comfortable beds and furnishings. The kitchen was exceptional. The view from the patio is wonderful. We have stayed at many VRBO houses in the past, but this once surpassed all others. We appreciated use of the car and the flexibility with our check-in time. Someday we hope to return!

My name is Ali Clayton and I was born and raised in Sitka, Alaska. I have over ten years in the tourism industry, which has led me to some great experiences and opportunities. I currently operate another short-term rental, The Kerr Cedar House - (715757), which was my late grandparents home, and enjoy the opportunity to not only meet new people, but connect with visitors so their experience is truly a one-of-a-kind. There is never a request that I wont give my best, so don't hesitate to reach out!

I purchased The Hemlock House in May of 2016 and together my family and I remodeled the house to the cozy and comfortable home it is in now. My Dad is a general contractor, and has been building in Sitka for over 35 years. Without his amazing experience and talent, the house wouldn't be the high quality product it is now. The home's beautiful design and touches came from the help of my Mom, who although you would think is an interior designer, works at the school district. I even need to give credit to my younger brother who stepped in and helped; from pulling nails to hanging sheet rock. This project was definitely a fun experience with my family and I could not have done it without them.
