Enjoy the solitude and privacy of our 5 acre nature retreat, surrounded by forest/wildlife. Rissers Beach is only 5min.drive up the road. Crescent beach is close by with its marsh for bird watching. Great neighborhood for walking and biking. Quiet and safe. Enjoy some of the best bakeries and cafes Nova Scotia has to offer in this area. LaHave Bakery. Ploughmans Lunch. Rose Bay General Store and Cafe has all day breakfast.Plus the excellent Petite Rivieres General Store is just down the road and there’s the Ospreys Nest pub for great food, live music and you can walk home if you need to(-:

The cottage and grounds were lovely, peaceful and private. Deer and rabbits often visited the property. Minga, the host, was friendly and very responsive to questions. Rissers Beach, which is a sandy and beautiful beach, is only 4 miles away. This cottage is an excellent place to relax.

We absolutely loved this charming cottage. Minga was a super host. Check-in was smooth and communication was easy. Appreciated the amenities and didn't feel like anything was missing. We will recommend this to friends and family and very much hope to be able to stay here again next year.

Great Vacation Stay

We really enjoyed our stay, the hosts provided clear directions as Google doesn't get it right and recommendations for places to see and eat. The property is lovely with wildflowers and the sound of birds, we regularly saw deer wandering through and a hummingbird visiting every afternoon. The beach with a great ice cream stand is just a short stroll away. The house is perfectly arranged for a family to visit and very quiet. The surrounding area offers lots of things to do and see.

Based on pictures on the Vrbo listing it looks like a nice place. I did not know I would be putting my family in a health and safety risk. Inside cleanliness was the first red flag. Bunk bed room had a foul stench in the room and on the bed linens. Kitchen was unsanitary and greasy. In the shower a used bar of soap was left I suppose from the last renters. Many amenities in the listing not present. No high chair, no children’s utensils, no hair dryer, no soap or shampoo, no fire pit. Outside was the second red flag. After a short time in the yard we all found ticks on ourselves. Tools were left lying on the deck, window screens on the lawn chairs, steps were shaky and missing handrails. We immediately notified Vrbo of these concerns. Vrbo said we must contact the host. The host Minga was out of the country but left us a contact number if there were any issues. We did reach out to that contact and after explaining all of our concerns he stated he would not be able to fix all those problems there was nothing he could do. We left the very next day without anyplace to stay. Once again we contacted Vrbo about our situation and requested a refund. The host denied our request and was very unsympathetic to our concerns.

Lovely Rustic Cottage

We found this cottage to be very charming and homey. The view of the deer in the morning out of our bedroom windows and then in the front of the cottage reaching up to eat the apples from the tree was delightful. It was wonderful to hear the ocean from the cottage. Thus, we felt very much at home. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Just a warning to others, please do not drive at night as deer are everywhere and one hit my car the night we arrived which was the only damper to our trip.

Why they chose this property

Located in the heart of Nova Scotia's Ocean Playground.
If you love the beaches and your privacy too it doesn't get better than this. Our 5 acre nature retreat is surrounded by forest and sweetened with the presence of an abundance of wildlife right outside the living room window.
Walk 5-10 minutes to the series of small beaches of Green Bay. Or walk 30 minutes/10 minute bike ride to Sperry's Beach. Sperry's beach is perfect for families with little children. Rissers Beach Provincial Park is only 5 minute drive away. We think it's the most beautiful beach area in all of Nova Scotia!
This property is new to us and we are still putting finishing touches on it. We will continue to update photos as small changes are made.
There will be new beds and linens and we are having custom made cushioned patio furniture added to the large outer deck.

What makes this property unique

-The area is a beach lovers paradise.

-Solitude and privacy amongst the surrounding forest. Enjoy the wildlife! Deer regularly come grazing through the property, hummingbirds and friends come to feeders outside nature gazing window.

-Watch the ocean over the tree tops with your morning coffee from our hilltop perch.

-Property is located on a quiet dead end dirt road, so is ideal for safe walking and biking.
Safe for kids to bike around on their own.
Walk to the closest beaches of Green Bay in 5-10minutes.
Walk 30 minutes or bike 5-10 minutes to Sperry's Beach which is very family friendly with shallow warm waters for swimming and the bay for paddle boarding and kayaking etc.
Drive 5 minutes to Rissers Beach. It's all here. Green Bay is wonderful!

-Enjoy foodie trips to Ploughmans Lunch for great sourdough bread, croissants and espresso
LaHave Bakery for breakfast/lunch and locally produced groceries
RoseBay General Store & Cafe for German Schnitzel!
Osprey's Nest has a pub/restaurant with live music.
And it's a cottagers tradition to walk down along the ocean to the Macleods Canteen for fish n chips or ice cream in the evenings. This is a 10 minute walk from our cottage.

-We recommend Swell Time for paddle board rental or surfing lessons. He's great with kids!

-Cape LaHave Adventures offers guided kayaking trips to the local islands. Highly recommend his trip to Big LaHave Island.
Or kayak rentals if you're feeling independent.

-our photos show a sampling of Green Bay beaches 5 minutes walk from our cottage, along with the entrance to our road, Richardson Rd. so you can get a sense of where it is in relation.
