About this property
Holiday city getaway tram to city wifi parking
A spacious three-level townhouse in the heart of Brunswick, with room for ten and a quiet street to come home to. The entire top floor is a private king retreat with ensuite and spectacular views across the Melbourne skyline. Below, a generous living space, a fully equipped kitchen and a north-facing yard made for long lunches. Sydney Road, Lygon Street and three tram lines are a short walk away, so the coffee, the live music and the city all sit right on your doorstep.
Picture your first morning here. You wander 350 metres to Sydney Road for a flat white and smashed avo, browse the vintage and jewellery shops, then decide between a loop of Princes Park or an afternoon in the beer garden at Rocky Ridge Brunswick. By evening the whole group is back together in the living room, and the #19 tram is waiting to carry you to live music at the Retreat Hotel. That is a Brunswick day, and this is the house that makes it easy.
Guests tell us the same three things: it is bigger than they expected, everything is walkable, and it works beautifully for families and groups travelling together.
Where you`ll sleep — flexible bedding for up to 10 *Top floor (private retreat): king bed, ensuite bathroom and skyline views, plus a sofa bed suitable for one adult or two children. The whole level is yours. *Middle floor, bedroom two: queen bed and a private balcony with bistro setting — the quiet spot for an early coffee before the house wakes up. *Middle floor, bedroom three: queen bed and a single bed, ideal for families sharing. *Living room: sofa bed for one adult or two children. Please let us know at booking if you need the sofa beds made up.
Kitchen, dining and living *Fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and full-size fridge — cook properly, not just reheat. *Outdoor dining setting in the north-facing back yard, where the sun lands all afternoon. *A generous lounge built for movie nights, long catch-ups and the comfort of everyone fitting in one room. *Large family bathroom with a bathtub, plus a Euro-style laundry on the middle floor. *Dedicated workspace and fast, unlimited Wi-Fi, because life is not all play. *Hotel-quality linen and bath towels, a complimentary bottle of wine per stay, and tea and coffee supplies waiting for you. *Body wash, shampoo and conditioner to start you off, so there is no supermarket dash on arrival.
Getting around *5km north of the Melbourne CBD, on a quiet street between Sydney Road and Lygon Street. *350m walk to Sydney Road for the #19 tram; 500m to Lygon Street for trams #1 and #6; 650m to Brunswick Station on the Upfield line. *One secure, undercover, off-street car park, plus unlimited free on-street parking. *Self check-in with a key safe, and we are a phone call or message away throughout your stay.
Travelling with a baby? We don`t supply a cot, but Hire for Baby and BabyQuip Melbourne both deliver cots, portacots and other gear straight to the property.
Guest access You have the entire house to yourselves, along with one secure undercover car space. Unlimited free on-street parking is available for additional cars. Check-in is self-service via the key safe, and we are contactable by phone or message for the whole of your stay.
Neighbourhood Brunswick is quintessential Melbourne — multicultural, a little gritty in the best hipster way, and packed with the venues, bakeries and vintage shops that people come to this city for. You are a one-minute walk from Randazzo Park, which has play equipment, a timber boardwalk and picnic tables, and ten minutes from the larger Methven Park, with its beautiful old trees and inventive playground. Wild Life Bakery is just around the corner from Methven Park and is worth the detour for the artisan sourdough alone.
Sydney Road and Lygon Street bracket the house, giving you two very different streets within a few hundred metres: Middle Eastern sweets, bridal shops and dive bars on one, Italian dining and long lunches on the other. Rocky Ridge Brunswick pours around thirty taps from the old Thunder Road brewery on Barkly Street, and the Retreat Hotel is a Brunswick institution for live music and a proper Sunday roast. Runners and walkers will love the 6km loop around Princes Park.
From the front door, trams and trains take you into the city in minutes. The Arts Precinct is about 15 minutes away for the National Gallery of Victoria, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the Arts Centre, Southbank Theatre or the Melbourne Recital Centre. Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne Zoo and the University of Melbourne are all a short ride, as are Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Royal Women`s Hospital and Melbourne Private — handy if your visit is for treatment or to be near someone who is.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: STAIRS: This is a three-level house with two flights of stairs.
