The Neighborhood:
This mid-century modern style English basement built in 1885 is centrally located in the heart of DC! Getting Around:
We are a 3-minute stroll on foot from the Shaw/Howard Metro Stop and about 10 minutes from the U Street/African American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Station. Nearby buses, Capital Bikeshare’s, scooter rentals, and Lyft/Uber’s surround the area - 95% Walk Score! Shaw, centered around the U Street Corridor, Blagden Alley, and Naylor Court (home to Tiger Fork, Calico, Causa/Amazonia, the Dabney, and much more) has been the hub for African American social, cultural, and economic progress in the nation’s capital, but even as the neighborhood continues to evolve it maintains a diverse and welcoming community characteristic of its roots! U Street is famous for its lively music scene and smorgasbord of dining options. Foodies will have no shortage of choices throughout Shaw and Logan Circle; from the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl to homemade ice cream at the Ice Cream Jubilee to Michelin-starred dining…there’s a little something for everyone. The neighborhood is very safe - experience the nightlife of U St, explore one of the many LGBTQ-friendly bars, or relax at one of the neighborhoods beer gardens or wine bars - then leisurely stroll back to your apartment for some welcome respite.

Other Things to Note:
~There is a glass door that connects the apartment to the owners’ dwelling, but it locks separately on both sides so the owners’ cannot access the apartment when locked on the apartment side. There is also a divider/screen available for additional privacy. The owners will never come down the stairs and cannot see down the stairs despite the unique glass design. There is a wall mounted remote-control for guests to open and close the black-out shades on the apartment side of the glass door for both privacy and darkness. There are blackout shades in the bedroom and both exterior doors, as well, so the entire apartment can remain private and dark during the night.
