About this property
Riverside Romantic Cabin • Outdoor Bath • Waitomo
A romantic riverside escape for couples or small families.
River Song is our original 35m² cabin, tucked away on our family farm near Waitomo. Small, beautifully considered and made for slowing down — with the river just beyond the deck and absolutely no need to rush anywhere.
Sleep in the king four-poster, curl up in the cosy double nook, cook something lovely, then soak together in the outdoor bath under the stars.
Outside, you have your own private river pool for swimming and kayaking, a tree swing, trout fishing and plenty of space to simply sit and watch the river go by.
Explore Waitomo and the many day trips nearby, wander the farm, meet the sheep — or stay right where you are. River Song is particularly good at making plans disappear.
Staying 4+ nights? We’d love to take you on a complimentary private farm tour, including film locations and parts of our farm we don’t open to the public.*
*Subject to farm life and availability; not offered over Christmas/New Year.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host
Hosted by Trudy Denize
As a designer for the last 30 years I've always had a passion for design and creating Ripples Retreat in the most beautiful part of our farm has been a dream come true for me. 100's of hours has gone into creating this dream retreat for our guests and we strive to create the best possible holiday for you.
Why they chose this property
Because it is just beautiful!
Located on the riverbanks of the stunning Mangaotaki River, this Zen-like location is surround by rolling farmland and towering hobbit bluffs. There's so many day trips to be had from Ripples that you can easily holiday here for more than a week.
What makes this property unique
River Song was the beginning of Ripples, built in 2020, with Cascade following in 2025. I designed both cabins to feel like a giant hug — extraordinarily snug and comforting, while sitting in these huge, beautiful landscapes. They were built with incredible precision and care, with every little detail considered.
Both sit privately beside the Mangaotaki River, with their own river pools, outdoor baths and space to swim, kayak, trout fish or simply do very little.
Stay 4+ nights and, when farm life allows, we’d love to take you on a complimentary private farm tour, including film locations and parts of our farm not open to the public.
For me, it’s the contrast that makes Ripples special — beautifully considered, snug little cabins surrounded by the scale and wild beauty of the valley.
It's stunning location, the quality of the modern cabin build and all its extra amenities, and the attention to detail that we have lavished on the property.
It's unique, beautiful, and healing and our guests simply don't want to leave!
