About this property

VETERAN OWNED - DEEP H2O, HUGE HOME, Fire Pit, WiFi, Kayaks/SUP's!

This expansive retreat accommodates up to 8 adults, per Bedford County Planning and Zoning Ordinance and the Short-Term Rental Permit (children aged 2 and under are welcome and excluded from this count). This limit aligns with the approved 4-bedroom septic system.

Purchased in 2017, this gorgeous home has undergone a stunning renovation inspired by HGTV power couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines. With a blend of farmhouse charm and lake house vibes, it features an open-concept design, quartz countertops, a farmhouse sink, and stainless steel appliances. Upgrades include a 32x12 deck, a new roof, complete redesign of the upstairs and downstairs living space, custom barn doors, refreshed bathrooms, and energy-efficient windows, and rustic laminate flooring. The dock features a 10x10 floater, and the landscaping has been revitalized for outdoor enjoyment.

The basement, finished in 2018, offers a large bedroom, a full bathroom, and a recreation room, making it a bright, functional space for all. Nestled in the peaceful Pine Ridge community on 1.5 acres, this home offers privacy, stunning lake views, and a tranquil setting ideal for morning or evening strolls.

The house features four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, including a primary suite with a queen bed, two additional upstairs bedrooms with queen and bunk beds, and a spacious basement bedroom with two queen beds. This property, with its deep-water access ranging from 10 to 12 feet, offers exceptional lakefront living.

As the home operates on a well and septic system, please be mindful of usage during your stay.

Steve and I both grew up in Northern Virginia just a short distance from Washington, DC. He went to Annandale High School in Fairfax County and I went to Gar-Field in neighboring Prince William County. We are full-time residents of Huddleston and live at a local marina while our house is occupied in the summers.

We have one son, Trevor, who was recently married. We also have two very energetic water pups! We have a beautiful and loving yellow lab named Dixie. She is a handful, but we forgive her because she's so stinking cute. We also have a chocolate lab named Sweet Mia. Her name aptly describes her personality.

Why they chose this property

This property comes with a story and we have it because of my late father-in-law,. In 2003, he lost his battle with cancer. At that time, he had been retired and had owned a small farm in Augusta County. He loved to hunt, so for retirement, he purchased a 100+ acre slice of heaven where he could enjoy the land at his leisure. That was in 1996. When he passed away in 2003, we kept the home and used it frequently to share with friends and family.

My husband has always wanted to live on the lake, so when we sold the farm at the end of 2016, we began the search for a lake house at Smith Mountain Lake (SML). We had vacationed at SML two years prior and fell in love with how clean the water was, but yet it was still surrounded by such breathtaking scenery.

We toured a total of 32 homes before deciding on this one. And the sole factor that swayed our decision (because we looked at several phenomenal houses) to purchase this home - was the lot. It's a rare find to have a house with a pancake flat lot, but that has deep water. Many homes with deep water have steep lots at SML. The house we decided on needed so much work (which was a bit intimidating), but we were willing to put in some sweat equity to make this work. Furthermore, we have some very handy friends who spent countless weekends at the lake helping us get it ready.

We also wanted a property that was family friendly. We have many friends with children of all ages and we wanted our home to accommodate people from all walks of life. Steve and I have six nieces all ranging in age from three to fifteen, so we wanted a place that everyone could enjoy. My parents are in their 70's and with our minimal sloping lot, it allows for older people to get to the lake with ease. In short, this is a fun place for everyone.

What makes this property unique

The selling point for us on this home was one simple factor - the lot. We had looked at so many houses, but this was the ONLY house where no one was out of breath walking from the dock to the deck! We knew immediately that this house was THE ONE because of that. The pancake flat lot sealed the deal for us.

We are also in a very private neighborhood. There is a 1.5 mile back to our community which provides a sense of security and peacefulness.
