It's been a dream come true to finally settle on Takaka Hill over looking the Tasman Bay and extensive mountain ranges. Our 400 acre, covers the classic Takaka marble & cast rock, virgin native forests, cave entrances, fresh water streams and typical highland grazing. We run a not for profit farm pet sanctuary, so expect to be covered in cuddles when you arrive, as they mostly run free.
We have two sons; one loves forging on the farm, mountain biking and fishing. The other is a chef in Nelson (Hardy Street Eatery)
Our love of self sufficiency is developing as is the land regeneration (over the next 10 years.) We want to keep life simple and less dependent on the main grid, re-purposing, recycling to cut down our own eco foot print. This style is reflected in our accommodation, with added eclectic vintage items so we can all appreciate how far we have come in our life time.
Terri is a Marriage Celebrant and Event Coordinator and Consultant which is another love of hers, to create beautiful celebrations in the Hidden Valley and surrounding locations.
Jim loves the out doors, he hunts and fishes to feed us, builds to house us and cracks the jokes to keep us in high spirits.
We have two dogs, Yobo, our elderly JR and Tilly our young collie. We also have the farm cat, who's more of a house cat by nature, his name is Zozzy. Check our website out to meet all the other pets.
Terri and our friend and supporter Claire Hutt have started and published a series of children's books, inspired by the farm pets in our care. "Adventures at Hidden Valley Farm" the first book published in 2023, being "Derek the Hungry Sheep" and the second book due in April 2024 "Babs goes to the Fair" The the third book will be "Tilly's Silly Sports Day" due later in 2024. The books are a fund raiser for the sanctuary. If you would like to support or sponsor us please do get in touch.
