Our group of 8 adults had a wonderful time. The house and property were exactly as shown on the listing. They layout of the house, furniture and especially the beds were quite comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked. We would definitely stay again.

The cottage was great for our group as there was lots of seating areas and beds for everyone. It was clean and the check in instructions were easy to understand. Overall we would stay there again in the future.

Very clean home. Loved the hot tub Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms very clean. Nicely decorated. We also enjoyed the fire pit. Had highchair for grandchild. Excellent place for couples, friends, or family. Would definitely stay again. Great location between bracebridge and huntsville.

We stayed at Balsam Retreat for 3 nights with Our Family of 10 and our Little Dog Lily. It was PERFECT for us. There was LOTS of Space and Beds for Everyone. We spent lots of Time in the Backyard. We used the Firepit Every Night and the Kids LOVED the Trampoline. We also Enjoyed Movie Night in the COZY Family Room downstairs. Would DEFINITELY Recommend to Anyone wanting a Nice Place to stay in Muskoka. We LOVED it!!Kathy F.July 2026

Lovely and spacious place with everything we needed

Neat place

The place was prestine clean when we arrived! Super easy checking in, hot tub was working properly, the place is great for relaxing and hanging with family and friends; would live to go back in the near future. Overll, it was a great stay!

Idyllic Perfect Retreat

The cottage was perfect and so cozy, we were a group of 10 and had the best time hanging out, playing games and making s'mores by the firepit and the enjoying the hot tub.Jenn & Brett are amazing hosts, they had sent us the details for check in and were communication with us t during the weekend. I would highly recommend staying at this cottage for your summer getaways!The beds were incredibly comfortable, the hosts had plenty of amenities available for our stay.

Comfortable modern home

My family stayed here for 2 nights. We had everything that we needed and we all enjoyed the hot tub.Our grand kids loved the fuse ball table and we had fun playing some of the board games. The home is very modern, light and airy and spotlessly clean. Location is great, halfway between Huntsville and Bracebridge.

Fabulous relaxing space

Loved the space for the multiple families who stayed together. It's a beautiful relaxing space that has been well thought out. Lots of options inside and outside to socialize, and play together. Amazing to be surrounded by nature. Hosts were prompt on their responses to questions and ensure that their guests are well looked after.

50th Anniversary Family get together

The Property was amazing and a hidden surprise was the trampoline which the young children loved. But the best part of this vacation was the communications with the Host Jenn. She took care of us immensely. Would certainly go back there and would wholeheartedly recommend it for a family get together. Plenty of room...

Great room for 13 to sleep. Very comfy beds and space in the house to lounge and relax. The hot tub did take quite a while to heat up; but it was a bonus. Very clean.The hosts were very responsive and responded to our questions quite quickly.On the negative end... there was only one tea towel in the kitchen as the cleaner forgot to replenish them. The listing stated and the host confirmed that keurig coffee pods were supplied with the house before we went there. So we didn't buy any more. But with 13 people staying in the house there wasn't enough for even having 1 each on the first of our 2 day stay. Also, the barbeque grill was disgustingly dirty and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for some time. We had to clean it before we could use it. Finally, be forewarned if you, as guests, are looking for live tv (particularly sports) you will need to buy a sportsnet app on specifically an I-phone to be able to mirror it to the tv. Android phones do not work with the set up in the house. We learned that the hard way; which was frustrating.Our suggestions: have printed instructions for tv use if clients want to activate live programming.The house definitely needs more towel racks in the bathrooms (particularly with a large group in the house). Plus hooks to hang coats etc.Our overall thoughts are that we enjoyed the comforts it provided and we are grateful that it was much more reasonably priced compared to others that would house 13 people in the area.

This was our 2nd time in the home. It's always comfy, and this time (compared to last) they had more than enough coffee (for the 12 of us who stayed there). So that was great. Thank you!The hot tub was a nice bonus that some took advantage of. However, instructions are not clear; particularly for shutting it down. I would suggest the host make a simplified version of the hot tub manual page for start up/heat up/shutting down steps to make it easier for guests unfamiliar with hot tubs.Also the microwave controls (being older) no longer have some of their labels. Perhaps a short list of how to operate it, with pictures, may be helpful; as well. Otherwise, there is a trial by error learning curve that may frustrate guests.The lights in the kitchen above the stove seem to not have a switch to turn them off. Perhaps a note about them always being on would eliminate any futile attempts by conscientious guests when "closing up shop". Having a little more detailed outline where and what compost goes vs garbage, with compost from the counter bin, and what can and cannot be recycled would have been helpful. Finally, any future guests, be forewarned that booking well before your chosen date you will be charged immediately in full (no invoice/pay later). Try not to cancel any part of your booking because if you do, even with the conscientious hosts, it may be a bit of a struggle to get your proper refund from VRBO.Overall we enjoyed our stay at the house.

The house is very nice inside, clean, the beds are very comfortable, the sofas are comfortable too, it has all the utensils and condiments you can use for the kitchen, I would only add a little cleaning in the BBQ area.
