About this property

Luxury Safari tent adjacent to the beach, following a nature trail to the river

Nature is your panoramic view! Your day begins with you relaxed, enjoying coffee (spiked or not), lounging on your Adirondak chair reading or just watching field rabbits, and listening to song birds all day. Maybe you’ll pack a lunch to take on a wildlife excursion somewhere, or walk along the nature trail along the beach to the river. Staying right here is a popular way to spend your time. Your safari tent is situated on a 900sqft fenced deck in a private corner of our property. Your path to the nature trail takes you to an undisturbed beach where you're likely to see eagles and herons at the shoreline, seals bobbing, and anglers fishing salt & fresh waters. The estuary, distillery farm fields and forest all lead you to the Oyster River. In your own little field, a variety of bird species, deer and field rabbits grazing are a near certainty. This area is like no other...Many nature lovers enjoy it here for the diversity of wildlife from the ocean, coast, forest edge and marshland all within walking distance. Even the occasional humpback siting has been reported in recent summers. You're in the thick of it!

There is no compromise. Still only a short drive into Campbell River, The Glamping Beachcomber is close to everything you’re coming to Central/North Vancouver Island for. A 15-20min drive to the city for more hiking and biking trails, wildlife tours, Quadra Island ferry, museum, restaurants, shopping, and swimming spots. Many of our visitors come to visit Strathcona Park, the oldest provincial park in BC.
Your large Safari Tent sits on a 900 sq’ wrap around fenced deck and is extensively furnished inside and out. Whether you dine at the waterfront restaurant a few min walk down the beach or al fresco on your own deck. Your covered kitchen is supplied with all the equipment. It makes for a memorable and unique vacation experience.
In addition to the comfortable queen bed, 2 mattresses & cots are available to put inside the tent at bedtime, or to use under the 10’x10’ canopy with detachable walls, or under the stars! From your deck you’ll catch the sun rising just after it hits the horizon, and enjoy watching it set over the trees in our field. The glamping site is in a safe place, with a private home nearby, but barely visible from your deck through some trees. It’s a combination of rustic bliss and comfort.

The Glamping Beachcomber is adjacent to the Salish Sea, and welcomes you to its driftwood covered shores for a campfire, swim, flyfishing, beachcombing or merely a spot to relax and think about the day.

ALL WITHIN a 5min WALK… the beachfront restaurant and the Salmon Point boat launch is across the road. The Jack Hames/Oyster River Nature Trail begins in front of our property and is 1.25hrs (if you want to go the who way).

ALL WITHIN a 2 min DRIVE …A semblance of civilization isn't far! Tastings and tours at the distillery, or the essentials for groceries, liquor store, specialty coffees, pizza and medical clinic, are just beyond the nature trail (or walk the trail). WITHIN a 10min DRIVE…Sandy Saratoga Beach, driving range, mini-golf (and icecream shop), 9-hole golf (award winning golf courses further into town), Miracle Beach Provincial Park, and the bottom of Mt Washington.

WITHIN 20min DRIVE - North to Campbell River or. South 20 min to Courtenay.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

While this land has been in our own family for 42 years. we respectfully acknowledge it is a part of the unceded traditional territory of the Ligwiłda’xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, Kwiakah First Nations. We are thankful for them allowing us to live, work, and play on this land. My siblings and I have always felt grateful to grow up here. Though I've left various times throughout my life for university, work, family, or to live abroad, this is 'home'. My husband and I are here throughout the summer during some of our best of times, and enjoy other seasons in New Westminster, where we are close to our children.

My family cared for many animals here over the years. Now that we're all grown, it's much quieter here, hence more wildlife on the property for you to enjoy. Creating spaces is a passion of mine, and it's been a pleasure making this corner of the land into what it is now, knowing every Glamping Beachcomber will find an attachment to something here.
I may not always be able to be here to greet you. I am ALWAYS available by phone and messaging. And the handbook is extensive.

Why they chose this property

It's blissful here. Start the day gently with songbirds and your favorite morning routine - black coffee or Bailys and coffee. Hot shower or cold. Under cover or none.
Whether you're staying-put for the day on the deck reading from our diverse book selection, doing yoga, crosswords, cooking, or birdwatching, or trekking to where the river meets the sea on the nature trail, your senses will be calmly stimulated. Days well spent.
Creating this unique space to enjoy everything surrounding it, has been a joy.

What makes this property unique

We're in the very heart of nature, where you feel miles away from everything familiar, yet are still within walking distance to the conveniences of civilization. You can smell salt air, since the beach is 5min away. The beachfront restaurant is just 5min along the beach next to the marina where you can take a fishing tour. To smell the forest, salt water and fresh water all in one breath doesn't happen many places, but it's here!
