A hotel worth looking at for a Helsinki city break

A reasonably priced hotel [for Helsinki] close to the main shopping area and harbour [for excursions etc.] All the main tourist areas are readily accessible. The hotel is described as a boutique hotel and has a few unusual features including the reception run bar. No tea and coffee in the rooms but available in the reception area. Breakfast is quite extensive and reasonable but the breakfast area is quite small.

Very conveniently situated, good hotel

The staff were excellent here, and the breakfast was very good. It is close to the station, quiet, and would have had a rating of 5 if the room had been a bit more comfortable, with something good to sit on - and if the curtains had closed properly during the short Finnish nights of July to keep out the daylight a little bit better.

Good Location, good facilities

We were only in Helsinki for less than 24 hours so wanted a central hotel within walking distance of restaurants and sights. The Rivoli Jardin met the bill perfectly. The only thing I would say is that it's not easy to find unless you know what to look for. The entrance is through a passage just wide enough for a car. This does make the hotel very quiet and secluded for a city centre.

Very central, Convenient for the city centre.

This is the second time we have stayed here. Uncomplicated, free wifi, a good breakfast included, helpful staff. Helpful Staff. Some confusion at first about the internet but this is now free in the room. This was not clear in the room information but I was told that it would be changed this week.

A cosy hotel with character that I felt very comfortable with. The staff could not be more helpful, a superb choice of hot and cold at breakfast. It suited me completely. and once found; a good location.Its photo does not do it justice.

excellent for both city centre and port area

As a traveller who had a requirement to travel on to another destination as part of my trip I had to select a hotel close to the port area. After some consultations with the tourist office I selected this hotel. Not only did the staff assist in advising on what time to allow for boarding and security times but also which dock I was to leave from which did aid in speeding up the process greatly. The room I had was a Single overlooking the courtyard which for a single was larger than most in capital cities I have been to in the past and with both a well stocked and not overpriced minibar plus the chance to buy soft and alcoholic drinks from the hotel and take them to the room or enjoy them in the seating area which is also used for breakfast if you are with friends and wish to discuss the days events. The wifi in the hotel is very strong and if you require the rooms also have the facility to link directly to high speed wired internet which the hotel provides at a desk in the room. I would advise any business or traveller wishing to see the sights of the city to choose this hotel as the centre is only a couple of streets away and the port is visable from the corner of the hotel.

Very good location

The hotel is in the very center of Helsinki, a few steps from Esplanadi, the Market and other tourist attractions. The staff is very kind and helpful, the breakfast buffet ok. For elderly people the room doors are hard to open, and it is a pity that it isn't possible to switch off the AC in the bedrooms.

Comfortable hotel in central Helsinki

The hotel is a short walk from Market Square and the ferry to Suomenlinna. It is also close to a selection of restaurants. Although breakfast is available there is no dining room.

Great - But no free WiFi?

Lovely hotel set near the centre of town. Breakfast is really nice, and the place is fitted out nicely. 10 Euros for the WiFi code is very high though, and the codes I was given failed to work anyway. Nonetheless; good overall.

A great hotel in a great location

After staying in several hotels around Finland all of which seemed to be aimed at business travelers it was a breath of fresh air to stay here at Rivoli Jardin. The staff were very helpful at every turn, the rooms were comfortable and clean, the location is fantastic and the breakfast was lovely. I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Helsinki!

Budget hotel at luxury prices

Good location (3 blocks from Esplanade, 3 blocks from harbour, 5-6 from train station and airport bus) and good breakfast, Staff a little unfriendly. Room poor for price - has requested room with nice view but got a bunker with small window obscured by concrete roof of breakfast room. Duvet smaller than bed- there was a spare of a similar size but thicker, so it was rather an uncomfortable way to sleep with one of us having too thick a duvet, and bedclothsoverlapping or falling off everywhere. Bathroom was poky and shower flooded floor. Strange lighting system - bedside lights and 2 or 3 main lights could only be switched off by the door, not by the bed! If it was a budget hotel, I would have thought it was OK, but for the price it was poor.
